Very impressive! Above the whole room is a large white dome. It starts out lit up like daytime but then the sun sets, the light fades, and the stars appear. The show, The Night Sky and our place in the Cosmos, was approximately 45 minutes. It was very informative, fun and impressive all wrapped in one. We went on a narrated journey through the cosmos with stars, constellations, nebulas, planets, solar systems, and galaxies. Our guide and narrator, Ms. Stewart (the astronomy teacher), did a fantastic job; she made it fun & you just wanted to her keep going so you could keep learning & soaking up as much as you could. The experience was super cool!

It did take us a few years to get in because we didn't start applying until my kids were in upper elementary and middle school grades but it was worth every second of the wait. The staff is unbelievably kind and supportive, from support staff to teachers to the Administrators. ICS has wonderfully robust programming for a private school. They also create so many opportunities for families to serve and partner with the school. If strong Christian values and character building are at the top of your list for your family in a private school, ICS will exceed all your expectations.

The teachers and faculty stand out as World Class and truly care about the children in a manner that makes them feel special as do families. Christian values weave into everything and teach children how live their lives the right way which can't be found in public schools. The academics challenge students beyond all expectations, and our son feels energized to learn and excel. The Strings Orchestra provides a rich musical opportunity for our son whose talent as a violinist shines bright. Athletics and club activities provide many opportunities for additional growth. Our family feels honored to be part of such a special school and community. We most highly recommend ICS for Christian parents who want the very best for their children. Our beloved son deserves the best in life; ICS delivers the best!

The teachers are truly exceptional and the Head of School does a fantastic job of leading the school in accomplishing its mission. Erick has always been a joy to work with and I've never met an educator so dedicated to supporting our son's success. (Our son just took a week-long "Maymester" course on game theory with him and LOVED it). If you're looking for a school where your child's talents will be nurtured, values will be shaped, independence will be fostered, and community-engaged citizenship will be encouraged, look no further - HGS is the best school around. At HGS, your child will get honest feedback on their work and will gain the confidence needed to be successful both in and out of the classroom beyond high school. (If you have an artistic child, don't be put off by the lack of art classes. Through internships, "Maymester" classes, and electives, our son has been able to develop a solid portfolio to use in applying for film schools next year). If you're considering HGS but aren't sure if it's the right fit for your child, tour the school and see what you think. Erick and Lizzy (Admissions) can connect you with parents who can talk to you about their experiences. Tell them you'd like to talk to the mom of the rising senior who's planning to go to film school - they'll know who you're talking about and will give you my contact info. Happy to talk with you about how fantastic HGS is! :) Kim

Another child was denied a water fountain break after playing sports. And I could go on... The school is all about control and the headmaster's ego. And about school plays. . Griffin Academy Preschool…read more We have not started the grade school yet so this is for the preschool only. We were so pleased with the preschool we are enrolling our son here for kindergarten. First and foremost - Don't be put off by the uniforms - this place is not some stuffy boarding school! The sense of community here this program's biggest strength and they work very hard to foster it. To us, it felt like an extended family, which I think is lacking so much in this area. The school provides so many opportunities for parents and family to engage with the school and the other students. It's also a very small preschool and grade school, so everyone gets to know each other. Even the older grade children engage with younger children on certain activities, which further enhances this sense of community across ages. Our child has been at the preschool for the past two years and I'm continually impressed by how well this program is run. It really is in a league of its own. I should note that we tried three other preschools before dining this gem, so we had a lot to compare to. The preschool teachers and admin have been working together for a while (+10 years) so it is a very well run machine. I always felt like my child was cared for and his best interests were at heart. Communication with the school was easy and transparent. The teachers and admin had an open door if I had any questions or wanted to talk more. The curriculum was fun and engaging. I felt like they thoroughly prepared him to enter kindergarten and to be a model young man. Just last week all the kids had caterpillars and watched them turn into butterflies over a few weeks. They constantly have these cool hands-on activities. We have another child and he will definitely be going here. I'm honestly so surprised it's not more popular, it is an incredible preschool program. All preschools in this area are $$$ and this program is no different. It's probably on the higher end, but it is 100% worth it. Cost was a big factor for us, but it's so so many miles ahead of the other schools that it was justified.
