The discuss the Dr had with me.... Your cholesterol and sugar results came back borderline, my response. Thanks I need to lose some weight. Charged $$$$$. For him to read my results. Never have I been charged to discuss my lab results that are part of a physical. I say stay far away!!!!

I have been a patient here for the past 20 years. I can't say enough great things about both Dr…read more John and his son, Dr. John, Jr. This practice is the best I have ever gone to and I drive over an hour to go there. They are kind and compassionate and truly care about their patients. That is the difference between them and other practices. I have a physician for life who I can call and he will see me without an appointment. Plus, Dr. John is a leading practitioner in his field, highly educated, and has a particular skill of identifying what is wrong and the best way to treat it. Their dedicated shows every single time I go there. I read another review where someone was complaining about having to pay for more than a physical. Every doctor charges for their services as they too run a business Dr. John's fees are not only reasonable, but they submit the insurance claims for you! Just the most polite staff and they all are bilingual too! If you are looking for a top notch doctor that cares about you and you can trust your health to, I can't think of any other place to go. What a contrast to so many other practices where you feel like a cattle being rushed in and out for a quick buck and are just a number. I myself don't shop for a doctor like I would shop for a commodity. I chose a doctor because they are the best in the field. Clearly, Dr. John and Southington Family Medical fit that expectation - well above and beyond it. Make them your family practitioner for life. Your will be so glad you did it. They are simply the best!

My husband and I decided to bring our baby girl here after raving reviews about Angela, the nurse…read morepractitioner, were given to us by the nurses who work in the Family Center at Bristol Hospital. When we first started going here we had no complaints. Angela was everything we were promised she would be. Dr. Skarvinko was a pleasure as well. But as we came for more and more appointments, we grew less fond of the place. We still love Angela, but there is one nurse that works there that is so condescending and "holier than thou" that I just want to punch her in the face. I wish I could remember the nurse's name, but she is a blonde with short hair and is the main reason we are leaving the practice. For the sake of this review, I'll refer to her as Nurse X. My husband and I are NOT anti-vaxxers, but we do follow a delayed program. We have been saying this since day one in this office and thought it wouldn't be an issue. And it doesn't seem to be, with anyone but Nurse X. Every appointment I bring my daughter in for Nurse X bugs me about the vaccinations we are and are not giving her that day. She grills me for our reasoning in our choice and how knowledgable we are about medicine. A am studying Health Science and Quinnipiac and although I am by no means a medical doctor, neither is she. I do have a fairly decent grasp of medical science and the research I do is not based off Google, but on medical journals and information from reputable sources. She also is constantly reminding me, "Well if she goes to public school, she is gonna have to be up to date on vaccinations." No, really? I'm aware of what is required to attend public school and what the exceptions are. Thanks. At each appointment I am asked if my daughter (now 10 months old) is sleeping through the night. I assume this is routine. She mostly does sleep though the night, though every now and again she may wake once or twice in the night. If she can not console herself back to sleep, I usually go in and breastfeed her to help her fall back asleep. At her last appointment, I told Nurse X this and she asked, "How long does she usually nurse for?" I told her about 10 minutes. "So she isn't really nursing, she is just pacifying herself." I told her yes and Nurse X shrugged and said in a very "know it all" way, "Well, if you are ok with that." Umm... Ok. I'm pretty sure this is MY kid. You aren't there in the middle of the night with her. You don't know what our routine is how we know when she is able to put herself back to sleep or not. What do you care how I handle the situation with my daughter? During that same appointment (the 8 month appointment I think) we decided to start the DTP vaccine. I had asked on several occasions if it was possible to get these three vaccines separately. I don't like the idea of giving a "cocktail" of 3 vaccines in one shot personally. Nurse X told me every time that it was not possible in the state of CT. She told me the state provides the vaccines for the office. She would say that I could find the vaccines myself and they could administer them, but she didn't think they even make the vaccines separately any more. Thinking that we basically had not other choice on the matter but to give the DTP vaccine, we did it. Just last week, however, I spoke with a mother who's CT doctor gave her child the same three vaccines SEPARATELY. Whether Nurse X was telling the truth or not, I'm not sure as I have no reason to trust her from previous visits with how she would talk down to me. Overall, I feel duped over the matter. Overall, Nurse X makes me feel like a bad and stupid parent EVERY time I see her. I honestly wouldn't put it past her that she would report my husband and I to child protective services for "medical neglect" because we delay certain vaccines. I just don't trust her. Most recently I have also come to feel like my child's care is not a priority here. My daughter had an appointment for a booster on Jan. 26th, the same day as the states most recent blizzard. I assumed that the office would probably be closed that day, but had received no phone to call reschedule prior to the day of the appointment. So the morning of the 26th I called the office to see if they were open so I could reschedule. Sure enough, the office was closed. It is now Jan. 31st and I have not received an phone call from the office to reschedule. I hate to leave Angela, but there are just too many strikes and red flags to ignore.
