Upon arrival we found a filthy bathroom . when a man has to clean the toilet before being able to…read moreuse it, you know its bad.....and there was a huge wad of long hair on the floor and the shower was obviously filthy. Giving credit, where credit is due, the staff came immediately to clean the bathroom, after I trudged down to the office to request this service. The property is poorly maintained, a couple of roofs obviously sagging, hose, mower and broken stepstool laying around by the fish cleaning house all week long. The inside pine work on the walls was shoddy as was the caulking around the shower etc. The office/store only sells sweatshirts, hats and fuel for the boats. No grocery items of any kind, not even a snack vending machine. . Our group rented two cabins . Not once during the entire week's stay did any of the staff come to find out if we needed anything, if we were comfortable..... They also never serviced the cabins. Not once! Nor did any of the staff nor the proprietors give any of us a "thank you" for renting from them - not even when we checked out. After all common courtesy goes a long way, but that was missing as well. I did not feel welcomed and I will not be returning there - definitely did not get my moneys worth .. This Sandbay Resort of today is a far cry from the beautiful and well kept resort of fifteen years ago. There are many gorgeous resorts around that area, better maintained, better furnished -including towels which were not provided here - and less expensive.

Very clean cabins, great service, clear and sandy water, and just a great value money wise to take a family. We all cross out the calendar until the next visit. Wish we were 250 miles closer to the lake.

People who like to fish this is for you. If you want to…read morerelax by the lake, swim, fish and have some quiet time, you can do it all here. We were invited to come along with some friends to this resort to fish. They have come up here for years and years. We loaded up to stay a week in a cabin. The cabins have the bare essentials. You get a toaster, a coffee pot, a full kitchen. There are some cooking essentials, but you want to bring what you think you'll need. We arrived a little early before or friends on Friday evening. I knew this place had good vibes as soon as we parked. Hundreds of dragonflies filled the air. They danced around us as we went up to the office. The resort owner was in the office. He came out to greet us. He gave us a run down of the resort. He showed us where laundry, trash, recycle, fish cleaning, parking, the cabin, and anything else we need was. We made our way to our cabin. The cabins are different sizes. Ours was a two bedroom cabin. Nice common area, with table, heater, futon, and room to hang out. I bowl of fruit awaits you on the table with the welcome letter. We were in cabin #1. The wind coming off the lake blew right into our cabin for a beautiful breeze. The air flow through this cabin is great. We did happen to pack a fan and used it in the bedroom. Each bedroom in this cabin had a full sized bed, closet, and dresser. Perfect for us, and our friends and their young son. The cabins each have their own seating area that over looks beautiful lake Clitherall. Could be a picnic table or chairs around a fire pit. There is shared access down to the boat dock. Boat slips for rent. You could rent a small boat too if needed. Swim or fish off the dock. This is big ice Fisher area in the winter. Just so quiet and beautiful. A couple cats roam the resort being good hunters. They were very sweet kitties and came to visit multiple times over the week. I loved it here. Perfect for our get away fishing trip. When it came time for our friends to switch cabins we helped them move into cabin #7. This one was a 3 bedroom. Not as good air flow, but bigger. What I noticed as we checked out the other cabins that my friends family was staying in was that each had their own rustic charm. Each had their own decorations, different drapes, different dishes, different furniture. All had a hand made fish spoon dish on the stove with the Old Town Resort on it. Each had a Old Town Resort soap in the bathroom. I loved the charm here. I already told hubby I would come back to this resort for another fishing trip. Just a quiet escape away from everything. Walking distance from a cute coffee house and play area for kids.

Where do I begin... Check in went well. We checked in around…read morenoon. The resort itself is pretty ran down. We didn't have heat until Saturday at 5pm. Mind you this was the coldest weekend in Minnesota. The manager wouldn't allow us to rent the conference room for Saturday evening even though no one was using it! Most importantly... the swimming pool! The pool has sand & dirt in the bottom of it. 2 kids cut their feet because the pool tiles were broken. It took the staff until 6pm Saturday for them to even try to repair the pool. Their solution was to put rubber mats over the broken tile areas. The waterpark was closed!!!! The restaurant is so expensive. Food was decent. The Sunday buffet cost was $14.95 & adults was $24.95. They charged me full price for my 5yr old granddaughter who ate one small blueberry muffin. All in all, I would not recommend Arrowwood Resort, nor will I return.

THIS MAY BE THE PLACE FOR YOU if you don't mind ACTUAL SHIT overflowing in the bathroom sinks of your room, and sheets and linens that have been around for 6 Presidential elections. Just changing rooms because of the issue was a struggle and "the best they could do" to rectify the issue was a Free Breakfast at 2100 Chophouse. Check their Google reviews for why this felt like more of an insult than just saying "there's nothing we can do." Save a few bucks, go to your local goodwill and grab a sleeping bag circa WWI and see how much they would charge to stay at the soon to be upgraded wastewater facility in Alexandria. Good luck!
