You get what you pay for. We get our Christmas tree here Every year and every year I could not be more pleased with the quality of trees, and friendly service we received. They treat you like family and are so very welcoming. They know their trees and are very helpful. You can roast marshmallows over their fire pit, get something warm to drink and also buy fresh greenery like wreathes and garland. Everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable about what they have to sell. Be a fun activities for the family And some fun photo ops as well. Support and shop local.

Edit: its been a week and im allergic to the tree. no fault to the business obviously. if you get seasonal allergies, id highly recommend doing your research, shaking the tree out, and rinsing it before bringing it in. What can i say, i was hesitant to come here because everyone in reviews was making a fuss about the prices. But being local, it's always been on the bucketlist to come to Holloways after years of driving past it on the 101. the price here was about $20 more than what we pay for a 6ft Nordman Fir from home depot and well worth the extra $ for us. Our tree is stunning. Its lush and definitely well cared for. We only walked through the trees in the ground. We did not look at the pre-cut douglas firs that they had available. All of the trees we saw looked great. It was hard to choose one! lots of sizes to choose from. after we cut the tree we paid the extra $10 to have it fresh cut & netted. We grabbed hot cocoa, sat and talked by the fire. It was a lovely way to spend our morning. I can see why many people have made coming here a tradition. We will definitely be back!

    Sad, dead tree

Bought two "fresh" Noble/Nord fir trees ($130-150 apiece) on 11/26. They were DEAD by 12/14 despite stands full of water and minimal heater use in our homes. We can't even turn the lights on due to the risk of a fire! I've never had a Christmas where we couldn't turn the lights on our tree! I can't wait to get rid of these trees.

You can clearly see that the employee did write down my order correctly.

I have been coming to Holloway's for years. This year was extremely disappointing. I purchased a tree and paid extra for flocking and the pearl essence. Which the employee had helped me select from a chart at the counter. I had this same effect for the last three years and I really liked it. The employee wrote it on my trees tag, along with my phone number. Do to the flocking I had to comeback the next day. So I comeback the next day and the staff had forgotten to put the pearl essence or any glitter on it at all. I was very clear that, that was what I wanted and had paid for. The owner/manager acknowledge that they had made an error. They did not read the tag when they were flocking my tree. At first he offered me two options, one to have the tree washed and redone the next day and I would have to comeback again or to refund me for the failed flocking. I asked for the refund for the failed flocking, since I could not make another trip back. When the cashier went to start the refund, the manager changed his mind. He said since you do want the tree you can either pay full price or leave it. Even though his employees made a mistake and did not do the job that was ordered. Both the cashier and I were shocked. The employee asked asked him why they could not help me? That there had to be something they could do? It was there error. Plus he had already offered to refund me for their error. He just yelled at the employee and said she can take it or leave it. She just apologized to me and said she was sorry. The employee just stood there looking stunned by the manager/owners behavior. Holloway's does not have any customer service. Good customer service would have been to apologize. Charged me for the tree but refund the failed flocking since they did not do the service they were paid for a d what was clearly written on the tag, along with my phone number. They could have called me if they were some how confused by what the order tag said. I will never go back. There are plenty of other tree lots, that practice customer service. Like others have said on here, they are over priced in comparison too the other lots. But you pay for the experience, but do to bad management/ownership the experience is ruined.

First time at Holloway's & I had a Blast. Great place for friends & family. They have this fire pit that's perfect for roasting marshmallows! And all these fun activities around the farm to all ages. Best part was the smell of the trees, "snow" machine, & their train ride! So much fun! Definitely worth the membership. Thank's Carl for showing us the ropes.

This place was amazing!! We live in Morro Bay so it is a bit of a drive to go get a tree and strap it to the top of the minivan and drive on the freeway back, but it was well worth it! We came with the intention of cutting down a tree. When we first pulled up there were some trees to self cut on the left side of the road. Upon further investigation on the other side of the road there are more trees and a whole fun area set up with quad rides, petting zoo and more. We found a tree we liked, the Nobel fur variety and it was attached to a base. Since the base was attached it was only sold that way and could not be removed easily. We asked a helper about separating it and he got the owner Mr. Halloway himself. He was extremely nice and patient and took us to the perfect tree just like the one on the stand, maybe better? Anyways he got the tractor and drove it to the front for us and took care of everything, even had his crew load it on the top of our van! I have gotten many trees in the area. They have been dry and not well taken care of and shed so many pine needles that by Christmas it is so dry we are afraid to turn the lights on. Well at this place all the trees are resting in troughs of water. When we got home and set it up we added water to our holder. Normally when we check it a few hours later, the tree was so thirsty it drank it down! Well not this time, the tree is very happy and so are we! Thank you Mr. Halloway and crew, we found our new spot!!!

My dad and I have been coming here for 14 years and it has been the highlight of the Christmas…read moreseason for us. Thank you so much to all of the workers there for many good experiences! Do recommend coming the first weekend when they have more trees of different varieties as well! Over the years they have gotten busier but it is still a great experience and I love seeing more people there every year!

So I decided I finally wanted to create my own Griswold family Christmas, LOL. It was a two hour…read moredrive or so to this place. What the heck, more time to sing Christmas songs as a family, right? Haha. I've never cut down my own tree. But I'm sick of buying dead trees from the local places here. Here's a clue, if you make a fresh cut on the bottom and put it in the stand with water, it should be suckin up that water. Especially during the first week or so. If it's not suckin up water, its dead and probably been that way for awhile. It will be dropping needles, a fire hazard, and have little to no odor. I gotta tell you, I absolutely loved the experience here from beginning to end. I brought a saw but they provide one if you forget. They have a handful or so of varieties that grow on the property. You just wander around on the acreage and look. All the trees for sale have a price tag. No price tag; not for sale. After you figure out which one you want, you cut it yourself. Then they have carts to lay it on and haul it out. Free popcorn and warm apple cider too! Employees were real friendly from entering the property to buying the tree. I loved exploring the property and not feeling rushed. Really cool! We settled on a 9-10' White Fir for $125. Really loved some of the Blue Spruce Trees but just couldn't justify the price. Check out my pics. Looked at a beautiful one that was $300. I just couldn't justify the money for something that was going to die. On that subject, don't believe the bad press about real trees. The fact is, if you drop them off in the proper place, they are turned into mulch. They are much less harmful to the environment than disposing of an artificial tree. Plus they improve the environment and air quality the whole time they grow. By the way, they also have fresh Noble Firs which is usually what I buy at the tree lots locally. They don't grow on the property but they ship them in. They only grow up north where it is colder. They are kept in 5 gallon buckets to stay fresh so even if you are not cutting down these, they will be fresher cause they are kept in water. In conclusion, I spent a little more than I normally spend for a tree. I would definitely say the experience made it worth the price difference. Plus, we cut down the tree and had it set in the stand with water that night. You won't find fresher if you buy local. They complimentary shake it by machine (to remove critters and loose needles) and optional netting for a small fee. A+. I'll come back next year. BTW. I visited between last week of Nov and first week of Dec. Maybe if you procrastinate, the selection becomes slim pickins?? Not sure, I'm just trying to make sense of some of the negative reviews. Come on Bako! Make a day trip out of it and hit Splash before coming home! Cheers!
