Perfect for a stroller, and some nature scavenger hunts. The playground itself is huge and looked really well cared for. The toddler area was unfortunately closed during our visit, but the rest of the space more than made up for it. There are tons of benches and seating all around, and you can see most of the playground from just about anywhere, which is so helpful when you're keeping an eye on kiddos. There's a massive covered pavilion area that would be perfect for group meetups or a picnic in the shade. And while it was still closed for the season, the splash pad/water park area looked like fun! Definitely planning to come back in the summer to check it out! Such a great spot to have in the area!

Me and my friends made a quick stop on the way home from brunch in the Cross Keys area, and the day was perfect for it. The park was alive with families and their furry friends just having small picnics and taking in the scenery. If you're not familiar with Sherwood Garden's, it's a privately owned community park in the Guilford section of Baltimore City. It's been famous for its annual tulip since the 1920's by John Sherwood, whose home bordered the park. To this day up to 70000 tulips are planted annually along with other flowers such as magnolias and dogwoods to name a few. Best time to visit is always towards the end of April and beginning of May. Although a private park, the public is always invited to stroll at your leisure throughout the grounds. The ongoing displays are 100% privately funded and depends entirely on contributions to fulfill its mission of providing a natural place for recreation for the community and related education.

There is no start or end, so just park on one of the surrounding streets and walk over. We were there the third weekend in April, and while the tulips were definitely past their peak, and many were completely gone, there were plenty of flower beds of tulips still blooming. Plus, almost all of the azaleas were blooming. I loved that they had so many different colored tulips and azaleas. They did different combination of colors in all the different flower beds, so we ended up seeing some surprisingly beautiful displays, even with some tulips no longer blooming. We weren't there very long because it was cold out, but this would be a great spot for engagement pictures or a picnic.

My friend and I enjoyed the driving tour as well as the walking trails. Beware it can get muddy and watery in some areas but definitely worth it. They look like the white tail deer we have in Michigan but they are similar to the white tail deer but closer related to the elk family and have a white bottoms not just a white tail like the deer. Small in size. Today on our drive here we thought we had seen deer but deer bed down in the rain and these were running about. Now after this refuge and learning about the sitka we are sure that is what we had seen. This place offers a paved auto tour. There is a $3.00 entrance fee to drive the tour. Not everyone has a fee but this one does and it's posted when you come in. The visitor center was open until 4:30pm today so we just made it and received our stamp. Even though they also provide volunteers for Eastern Neck (weekend only) they did not have the stamp for the passport book so that was disappointing. No worries there was a lot to enjoy and be thankful for at this stop. Definitely a good display of many educational opportunities.

[Coronavirus review] Tons of people drive past the turnoff…read morefor this place on the way to the beach without ever giving it a thought. Is it worth making a detour? In our social distancing era, the calculus changes perhaps, as the beaches will be crowded and this place will not. Most of the actual preserve is a gravel road; you don't need four-wheel drive or anything, but you'll be dusty. Of several trails, the one at the very end, Ferry Point, leads through an interesting manicured landscape with gnarly trees encircling the path. The offshoot labeled "jack-in-the-pulpit trail" suggested some nifty pitcher-plant looking foliage, but I saw nothing like that. Maybe I just didn't know what to look for. There's a small beach, and some people were using it for boating or fishing. The water was as pleasant as I've seen on the Eastern shore; calm, clear, and with plenty of plant life. So much of the Chesapeake shore is private land that it's nice to be able to see what the scenery looks like without a McMansion, and this preserve is not a place where I'd spend the whole day, but it is convenient to stop at on the way to or from other things.

It's a smaller State park and slightly confusing with the direction's but the staff was helpful just get a map. We camped in a "walk back" section of E. Very spacious sites with the bathroom/shower reasonably close. Parking was "ok"..... but they fill up and then you have to use overflow. The bathrooms/showers were clean BUT I guess I'm used to sites that spray repellent because nature is boss. We drove through the comfort sites of D and they were too tight for my liking. They have yurts and cabins but for me a tad too close. They do have an Island camp site Loved it!!!!! That's a must do. It's 2 sites across a short walking bridge with water view and access. I would definitely go back.

Walked the entire trail around the pond. Very busy trail with bikes and walkers! Some very old…read moregrowth pines. One thing I don't understand is why the Park Maintenance people don't cut the Wisteria growth on the trees? Some trees have vines over two inches in diameter. This stuff will choke a tree to death over time! Great walk ... very pretty sights. Fall colors will make it a much nicer walk!

Had a grand time at Rocky Point yesterday with my boyfriend and our friend, Justin. It's off…read moreseason, so there's no one manning the entrance. But that also means there aren't any lifeguards or the services that you would find here during the summer months. Swim at your own risk. We weren't there for swimming, though it was 80 degrees and there were several people splashing around and having a good time. There was also a church baptism going on, which made my heart smile. There seemed to be many family and church members there to witness and celebrate, and I love seeing that kind of support and community. I also like the idea of feeling that close to God that you would take that step, to hopefully strengthen that bond. Ariel, the little mermaid, was also there, randomly, having a photo shoot. We wandered a bit, for about an hour. In the back of the park there's a crumbling path that we all decided was some Indiana Jones sh!t. There's some caution tape there, but it's just flapping in the shrubbery, not doing much good. Most of the park is quite wheelchair accessible, though several of the paved paths are so steep that I didn't venture down them. I could have, if I had been determined. I like that option. The playground is looking a little worse for wear. I didn't get close enough to take any pictures because the gnats are serious right now. But there were also some lovely butterflies. Those are always nice to see, especially with their populations dwindling. We've been checking out a lot of local parks these days, and this one is pretty decent. Gunpowder Park: Hammerman Area off Ebenezer Road is still our top rated park, though. I'd put Rocky Point third, after North Point State Park in Dundalk (that jetty!). Would recommend
