Poor response from office staff…read more Had my driveway done 7/26 and notified the office x3 that they missed some cracks and was told a salesman will come out to look at it. That never happened and the excuses were always they are on vacation or just too busy so I withheld payment until someone came out. Two months later the owner Dick called me looking for payment and knew nothing of the issue I was having. His response was new office staff, 700 residential driveway sealing plus commercial accounts but he did arrange for my crack to be repaired immediately after payment was made. I have dealt with this company for a decade and never had a negative experience until now. Quality has gone down the tubes. Workers speak little English. My crack was repaired but done very sloppy and resulted in a tripping hazard. A picture is worth a 1000 words! Maybe because they filled my crack at 7 pm? Will not do business with them again. Very disappointed because they once were a good company. The owner Dick is NOT empathic to his customer's experience at all (never apologized just made excuses ) and obviously doesn't have a clue to what is happening in his office.

When I originally called to schedule an appointment, they spent a great deal of extra time on the phone walking me through some steps of doing an initial check of my chimney and what to look out for to minimize risk of fire/CO exposure. They did not have to do this, but went way out of their way to spend this extra time with me and lend a hand. Scheduling was easy and efficient, and they use Square app to confirm, track, and enable notifications for the appointment. During the inspection/cleaning, they were very friendly, transparent, communicative, and efficient. They prepped the work area which was then spotless upon completion as if they were never even there. Extremely professional, knowledgeable, and personable. I had great conversations with the two sons during the appointment, and they took extra time to answer my questions and to walk through safety and operational concerns I had. Overall, this was an excellent experience and I'll be recommending Family Chimney Sweeps to everyone going forward. Great job!

Some weren't tucked in at the ends leaving room for birds to nest. They also didn't install downspouts on all sides of the house. Instead of taking responsibility, they blamed the roofers. I assume this happens to women dealing with male contractors all the time. They assume you won't know whether a job is done correctly or not. I continued to get water on one side of the where a downspout was not installed. There's no proper drainage for the gutters and in heavy storms one drainpipe can't keep up. Get multiple quotes.

The technician…read moreshowed up on time and after a 90 minute long evaluation gave a diagnosis and said he would return with the part the next day. He left the furnace cover and burner cover off. The technician said that he noticed that the furnace would run with the burner cover off and left it that way prior to departing. He also verbalized that it was safe to do so. He returned the next day with a replacement blower motor and after two minutes said the replacement part didn't work and was rushing out the door before being stopped by my wife who asked for an explanation. He verbalized that the heat exchanger is likely bad and would need replacement. He said his company didn't fix this because "Trane parts are too expensive and they don't have access to the parts." He said there was no charge and then rushed out of the door. 1. Here's what bothered me. If the heat exchanger was bad, it was covered under warranty (I checked). Trane would replace the part free of charge. 2. The technician TOOK the cover for the burners and the screws (replacement cost is $302). I have never had a service company steal parts from me. After seven phone call attempts over a 3 week period, my wife finally reached the owner who stated he would address the issue. We had another company come by and evaluate the furnace in the interim. They shared that the furnace was not safe and that it shouldn't be running until the heat exchanger was replaced. They verbalized that Smitty's was putting my family in danger by blowing unsafe gases in my home. ALSO, Smitty's has not returned the burner cover and screws that they took from my home (replacement cost is $302)!! This all happened in November 2019. Smitty's still hasn't responded despite reassurances of resolution by the owner. My recommendation is to AVOID THIS COMPANY at all cost. SAFETY DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A PRIORITY FOR THIS COMPANY. If you do use them, make sure that none of the functional components of your appliance has been taken prior to payment or departure by the technician.
