But they must get some customers as they have been open for more than 20 years now! The staff are very friendly and will happily chat with you. They sell a good variety of products from run of the mill vitamins to rarer harder to find supplements and aromatherapy products and homeopathic medicines. Additionally they also have a nice little range of veggie foods too which is an added bonus especially as the food isnt the typical veggie foods you normally expect to find.

As a student you can begin to feel bogged down by the constant fast food fare and beans on toast so to be able to visit somewhere which gave a good healthy option and was so close to my halls was brilliant. The shop itself is green outside which is apt and it really feels light and refreshing when you enter. The staff are fantastic they really are committed to providing good quality food and good quality service to the customers. On one of my excursions here I has numerous questions about the varied produce all of which were answered swiftly, informatively and most of all friendly and this made me feel a real affinity with the place. They give you so many options in here and the website even suggests healthy recipes you can make yourself such as deserts which are suitable for vegans. This really impressed me as it shows the amount of care these people put into what they do. The prices are good and the food is always ridiculously fresh as every day there are deliveries of spanking new produce.. I didn't stop long enough to chat with…read morethe staff as they were very busy stocking the shelves and unpacking deliveries but having looked at the extensive selection of items and range of organic goods I could tell they were very passionate and dedicated people - I have never seen anywhere that has organic tampons! Yes a selection of organic tampons, I mean I could have misread but I didnt really want to pick up the packet and really take in what I had just seen. It certainly wouldn't surprise me as they have gone to great lengths to stock only the most envrionmentally sound products here in a range of foods and household products - frozen organic meals? Ah even the morally sound are lazy and lonely. And I have never seen such a range of pastas in so many shades of brown and green. They even have ochra in tomato sauce - must be the equivalent of tinned sardines in tommy k, not sure what that's like on toast?!

Whatever it is, I always struggle with eating it and I'm definitely not ever going to be one of those people that order a salad for lunch, either. Thankfully, local greengrocers like Branfresh in Ormskirk village almost make me change my mind and start eating my greens more often. The shop is full of various freshly grown and picked produce that even I must admit does look quite tasty, even if I'm reluctant to actually eat it. As it's a small local business, the service they offer there is personal and friendly, meaning the staff are chatty and happy to help if you can't find the cucumbers or oranges (although the shop is set out well enough for you to probably not need them anyway) and their prices are more than reasonable enough for you to consider choosing them over the local supermarkets.

Besides an abundance of tasty and decently priced fruits and vegetables, Branfresh also sells some grocery items, a wide selection of herbs and spices, and some organic/health foods like dried fruit, nuts, and my all-time favourite--yoghurt covered raisins! The prices here are very good. I was very pleased with the garlic chips and the yoghurt raisins that I bought. I would definitely come back here if I were planning to be in the area again.
