When I arrived, I was greeted by a woman who directed me to a clean and very comfortable room. The massage was just as I hoped it would be. I was asked how much pressure I wanted and I opted for medium. That was just right for me, and my masseuse asked a couple of times if she was using the right pressure. I have been back a few more times, and the quality is always the best. I highly recommend this place for both therapeutic relief and a relaxing experience.

I called Mandarin half way through yesterday afternoon hoping to get in later in the day. I chose to call Mandarin based on the reviews and she was able to fit me in. I never had an Ashiastu massage before, but looking into it, decided to give it a try since my back pain was flaring up and I needed help. I was very impressed with how much better this type of massage feels over the typical ones I get. An Ashiastu massage is the type where they walk on your back, but it is much more than that. I had a hard time believing how much she could manipulate her feet and my muscles with them, just amazing. I'm very much looking forward to my next visit.

There was however 1 masseuse (female) that was really rude for no good reason. I was having a foot massage and the place was dead, so my gf asked to sit in the massage chair next to me. One of the nice masseuses said absolutely and out of nowhere came this mean lady who pointed rudely to the chairs across the room. Then after my gf decided to join in, she got the same lady that told her to sit on the other side. Lol. I had to use the restroom at one point and my masseuse was going to stop the timer. But the same rude lady who was working on my gf stopped to tell her not to (in Chinese). I was a bit incredulous to even hear her tone of voice. It was like we were annoying her to even be there. I happen to speak Chinese, so I spoke directly to my masseuse and asked her to stop it. Which she did kindly. I stumbled upon this place as I walked down Beacon Street in Washington Sq. and I had been craving a deep tissue massage, so I just walked in. First of all, the place didn't have much charm, but I was OK with that. I pay for the quality of massage; not the frills. I waited a few minutes and then I was taken into a room. Everything seemed customary up until this point... I am lying down, ready for my deep tissue massage, and the woman who assisted me comes into the room. She begins working. As soon as I am getting into my massage, a phone rings-- so, she says "sorry" and stops the massage to go answer the phone. I thought "how weird!". She comes back in and starts the massage again. Then, things got weirder... Another woman comes in and starts working on me too. So, they are both massaging me, speaking in Mandarin Chinese, as I attempt to relax. It ruined the experience of what should have been a peaceful massage. I contemplated getting up and going, but the massage felt good, so I stayed and figured I wouldn't really tip much, if at all. The phone rings for a second time. The lady who started working on me first leaves for the second time. I am left with the other woman who joined her. She is still working. It felt awkward and unprofessional. I have never experienced anything like this before. 1. During a massage, the therapist is NOT supposed to leave... especially not to go pick up the phone! I have never had this happen before during any prior massage. (I would understand if it were an EMERGENCY, but I do not think this was...) 2. Generally, 1 individual works on you; not 2, unless you request 2 people, I suppose. 3. Talking during a massage is also unprofessional.
