The mechanic that came out(assuming he is the owner), called me and told me that my truck could not be fixed on the side of the road. That the tensioner went out. Well that leaves me high and dry with no way to get down the road. I asked him what it was going to be for the service or lack of, would be. He tells me over $500. I could not believe this guy was charging me to basically bend me over the barrel and throw his hands up like, o well, now pay me. I then called a wrecker company to come haul me back to Ranger, so I could get parts or whatever and get down the road next day, the wrecker driver calls me and tells me "hey man, I got your truck going, the tensioner is good", so at this point i'm thinking what kind of side show BS am I dealing with here. So I get to asking questions and figure out that the wrecker driver is the guy that actually fixed my situation and truck. I do not suggest using this company unless its putting on wiper blades, or a tail light. He says he tried his "damnest", but sorry sir trying just doesn't justifie me spending $500+ on a crap shoot. He's has a drop box so you can leave your car in the evening and drop your keys in his drop box. That's way it doesn't get in the way of work hours for you. They said it was sparks and coils, which was $1300 alone, plus all the other maintenance work we had done to get it road trip ready- as we knew we had a trip coming up. Well, time for our road trip, we're (myself, my husband and my 1 year old) on the road for about 4.5 hours, and lo and behold, there is the check engine light- followed by all the lights coming on, followed by us not being to accelerate, and eventually losing A/C and cruise control. Seeing as we were in the middle of nowhere, we cruised to a stopping point, waited till morning and brought it to a local shop just to see if it was drivable to get it to a different Christian Brothers location- with the closest one being an hour away. I spent that whole morning on the phone with Christian Brothers Weatherford trying to figure out if our warranty would cover whatever we were about to have to pay at this small shop, the answer was basically no, unless I wanted to file a claim, even though the car was doing the exact same thing we just spent nearly $2k getting "fixed". Got stranded there for a week. Finally picked the car up, spent $200 just to get the codes cleared and told it was fine to drive. Finally got back on the road to get to our road trip destination a week and a half later, and after 2 hours of driving there was the check engine light, and I was once again stranded overnight. I can't even begin to express how angry I was. Luckily we were in a town that had a Christian Brothers, I called and explained the situation to them, and they were very apologetic and made it right asap. Turns out it was a camshaft sensor, they fixed it asap, charged me $200 and said they have no idea why the Weatherford shop did what they did, and that I was lucky it didn't break down completely while driving. Now here we are, 2 weeks later, finally driving home. This has been one of the most stressful experiences for us, I'm not even sure if there's something that would make this right for us. I just know we won't be back.
