This place is a Country Girls wet dream!! The mud, trucks, tractor tires, ATVs, interesting creations and last but not least HOT muddy men! I went with some friends for my birthday last weekend on a Saturday, we got there around noon and the line was to the road, took about 30 minutes to get in. There were easily over a thousand people there perhaps more, soooo crowded! I don't recommend bringing a car as some of the roads get really muddy, but you're probably ok if you stay right near the pit. Do not take a car near the 1000 acre trails... that area gets really nasty. They have food trucks and porta potties throughout, they also have indoor bathrooms with full showers which is really nice. There is also a wash down area for ATVs and lots of camping areas. Entry is $15 per person for a single day so no extra for use of the pit or atv trails. There is an extra fee for camping & two day pass. Always check the website for Mud Bog days, it's not every weekend. There is not much regulation of the pit, you just jump off on it if you dare! Don't worry though, if you get stuck they have two tractors that are pretty quick about pulling you out. Other mudders are also very willing to show off their skillz by helping you out too. We twisted the drive shaft in half on our first run, got a new one installed and broke it a few hours later... The only way out of the pit is pulled out if you ask me... Ride it till it dies!! Put some boots on and get a little muddy!!Hope you have fun!

Great spot to ride. Love taking the ATV's out for the weekend. Everyone is friendly. They have hot showers, food, bathrooms. All aroung great place to hang out and ride.

    Camping with about 30 people. #goodtimes #postingDiva

I recall my uncle mentioning that if it's hot, the car will run slower. We could smell the food the vendors prepared for the day's crowd. Suddenly, the roar of the engines came to life, and the wife heard the announcer say, "Welcome to the Gaternationals; it is a gorgeous day for racing." The drag racers rolled to the staging lanes with their dragsters doing burnouts. They carefully pulled into the pre-stage beams. Finally, there was the first yellow, the second yellow, and the third yellow, and then it was full throttle down the track. We watched reigning Top Fuel world champion Antron Brown produce a 3.685-seconds at 334.24 mph run in his 11K horsepower Matco Tools dragster. Also, Jack Beckman took the top qualifier in a Funny Car with 3.832 seconds at 334.65 mph in his 11K horsepower PEAK Chevy Camaro SS. Most importantly, every ticket is a pit pass for those who have never been to an NRHA event, meaning you can watch the crews prepare and adjust their dragsters. I noticed that we were lucky to sit in the stands without being surrounded by cigarette smokers. We've had a problem with several venues in the past overlooking smokers. The restrooms were well-maintained, the food vendors were ample, and currently, the venue allowed coolers at a max of 14" x 14" x 14". We took our seat cushions, but they can't be bigger than 18" x 10". However, alcohol, dope, and glass containers were not allowed. While we were there enjoying the event, I looked back at 2024 as a very challenging year since I lost my uncle to cancer, and being at an NHRA keeps his memory fresh for us.

From the two hours it took to get into the track to the poor organization around the grandstands, the overall experience was extremely frustrating. While the email notifying attendees that traffic would be heavy was appreciated, it would have been much more helpful to give specific guidance--such as recommending that fans leave two hours before the time they hoped to arrive. There were also challenges with grandstand access. Each time fans went up the steps to their seats, they were required to show their tickets. At the B/C steps, for example, a staff member would not allow a teenager to return to his seat to rejoin his parents and instead made him step aside and call them. A simple hand-stamp system would have made re-entry far easier and avoided these situations. Additionally, during the Sunday finals a storm moved in that was clearly visible on radar. Despite the approaching weather, there was no announcement advising fans to leave the grandstands. Crowds were left sitting through a heavy downpour with significant lightning. From a safety standpoint--especially with so many people in the stands--this felt like very poor planning. NHRA events are always a great time, and we have had wonderful experiences at many other tracks across the country. Unfortunately, this particular venue did not live up to those standards, and based on our experience, we would recommend attending an NHRA event at a different track.

When they evacuate, the process to get back in is excruciating. A giant line forms when everyone is trying to get back in, and then you start to miss bands you wanted to see. Also, what use to be bands playing for an hour, this year played for 30 min or less. Changes need to happen. And you should start by Changing the date of when this event is held. I can't imagine going back and having to deal with the extreme heat, get rained out shortly after and be uncomfortable the entire festival. I'm sure many others are starting to feel this way.

Gate River Run (GRR) is a fun filled, "Bucket List" type event. The event draws thousands upon…read morethousands of people from all over the US and even from other countries. While I've ran many 5K's ... GRR was three times of a 5K distance. I participated for the first time along with a group of first timers in 2018. And together, we conquered the event to the very end. It's definitely no cake walk (is "cake run" a word???). If you are planning on signing up for GRR, my only suggestions would be: ** Try to not do it alone. Sign up with other people that will motivate you along the way. Have at least one buddy that will help you get to the very end. It definitely has helped me. ** Stay hydrated through the course of the week leading to the event. ** AND...stretch, stretch, stretch, stretch....this helps ALOT. Other than that, get ready to run/walk/hop/crawl/ChaChaSlide or whatever it takes to make it to that Finish Line. The first 6.2 Miles (equivalent to 10K) is not so bad. And throughout the course of your run, you will encounter live bands playing, street cheerers, as well as multiple Water Break stations. Each Mile is well marked along with a timer so you will know your current progress. On the 8th Mile, you'll encounter "The Green Monster" aka The Hart Bridge. This is about the same time your legs are about to give in, calves screaming, lungs burning. And you still have to run up The Green Monster. It's not fun, but once you are on the bridge, it definitely feels like you're on top of Mount Kilimanjaro. From there, going down from that bridge gets easier, just let the downhill momentum of that bridge take your body all the way to the Finish Line. I'm still contemplating about signing up for Gate River Run 2020. For me personally, the problem I have is commitment... because The GRR, The Dirty Pecan (A Road & Gravel bike event held in Monticello, FL ) and The Fat Tire Festival (a famous MTB event held annually in Ocala, FL) are all held..ON..THE..SAME..DAY..OF..EVERY..YEAR. Grrrrrrr!!! #DecisionsDecisions

What a gorgeous course. But what makes this course even better is the citizens of Jacksonville that lined the streets - cheering us along, offering drinks & treats! Approximately every 3/4 of a mile, there were bands playing. This did so much to lift my spirits & help me push to finish! I'm glad there are 364 days to rest & prepare - but I'm very much looking forward to be a part of this great event again & again!

The Twelve Days of Yelpmas Day Four…read more Short tracks like this are the foundation of auto racing. They got a rough around the edges glory and a weird mix of wholesomeness and griminess. It's a subculture far enough removed from Yelp that this here Yankee had to create a listing and contribute the first photos and first review. I caught the last event of the year 2024 here on December 14 with my dad in tow. I saw from Google reviews, which I guess are more NASCAR and Yelp is more Formula 1, and from Google Maps that seating is very limited so I brought along 2 folding chairs. That turned out to be unnecessary as the scant bleachers never even reached half capacity. Seems the crowd at short tracks is usually just friends and families of the drivers. It was tough figuring out where to park as there's two areas with no clear delineation between the race haulers and race cars and regular vehicles. The cars ranged from micro sprint cars to mini late models to legends class. The latter look like little ZZ Top cars. There were some pretty good on track battles for position on that dirt surface, a lot of getting sideways in the corners, and the tow carts got a good workout. Those guys seemed like bigger athletes than anyone the way they rushed out to clear up the track. The PA system was used very sparingly, much more so than other races I'd been to at Auburndale down here in the Sunshine State or at Flat Rock back at home in Michigan. I didn't necessarily need a full play by play but some more rough framework would have been nice. Most of the pa verbiage was him haranguing lollygagging drivers to get their cars to the track for their heat races! And there were some lulls between the races. I never needed to use the restroom but hit up the concessions twice. They made a mean cheeseburger and fries that really hit the spot with nice crispy crinkle fries. I had a Mountain Dew to drink, figuring when in Rome.... didn't see Monster Energy drink or NOS so it seemed the people's champ there. There was also a tent with some booze options down by the track. Not trying to dry snitch and I'm not sure if it was legit or even for sale but there were a few fifths down there. One way or another race fans are gonna get their drink on. Later I went back to the concessions and ordered nachos and a blue Gatorade. As soon as I got those nachos and saw the absence of jalapeños and that neon yellow cheese I knew they were gonna be subpar. And indeed it was stale ass chips. 7 Eleven nachos slay the weak ones they have here. No awesome and hilarious painting of a hot dog waving a checkered flag at the Sevs though. Twice there was delays due to damage to a concrete beam that runs along the top of the banking on one side of the track. The second was extensive and my cold, tired dad wanted to leave so we did. There was no updates and info from the PA system as to what was going on which I thought was pretty wack. We were there over two hours so we caught quite a bit of racing but I would have liked to watch the event to its conclusion.
