We love Hoffman Lake. It's affordable and tons for the kids to do. There's a pool, park, splash pad, lake, store, fishing, and more. We have a 37 ft Class A and tow an Explorer, we get a pull-through site. Very kid/family friendly. read more

If an establishment is going to jam their 'terms and conditions' down your throat by making you sign that you received them via email and presenting them once again when you check in, then they should probably think about enforcing them. Some of the rules not being followed are no motorized wheels such as mopeds, ATVs, GOLF CARTS etc., no rugs or mats, and quite times. Also, the store is rarely open during the week so don't expect anyone to be there when you arrive. Another rule indicating there are fees for guests visiting, but don't worry about it because the store is RARELY ever open. Just let your guests through when they get there. The website states that they have kayaks, banana boats, row boats, and paddle boats for rent. We saw two kayaks out behind the store, but that was it. The sites are small and not well marked. We watched a bigger rig struggle getting into their site because there was already somebody on both sides of them. From what we saw, no personnel are ever going around on a golf cart seeing how things are going. The bathhouse is in dire need of upgrades, and the splash pad is run down. It only runs when the temperature is 85 degrees or higher. It just feels like the owners are raking in the money but not concerned with day-to-day operations. read more

Seems like a decent campground on a lake. Granted, it was a cold weekend when my friends and I tent camped there, but it seemed like mostly seasonal (RV) campers there. Traffic from a busy road on the other side of the lake could be heard - not ideal, but I guess you wouldn't hear it during busy times when there are lots of other campers. The sites aren't big or wooded, but we did get a huge stack of firewood included for our campsite fee - bonus. The woman who checked us in was super friendly. The bathrooms were spotless, though the toilet stall doors don't lock, which seemed odd to me. There were laundry facilities, swimming pool, and playground - seemed like a very family friendly place. It was also pretty convenient for our Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival and garage saleing weekend. read more

Under new ownership since we came here last. The grand daughter of the the past owners has taken it over. I called ahead before we made a the roughly 2 hour trip up north. We had other plans in the area and just needed a camping spot for one night. We arrived around 10 at night and she was still in the campground office working. Her attitude was so pleasant and I wondered how long she had been working. Turns out, they live here, so it's kind of like hanging out in your living room. We paid and then she brought the firewood to us in a little golf cart truck. Just a great experience all around! read more

We had a wonderful time here Memorial Day weekend 2021. The campground was very nice, kids enjoyed playing with other children. Nice lake, beach access, fishing, splash park. Owner is on site & super helpful. Store is well stocked with anything you probably forgot. I like that the campground is secure & all visitors must check-in at the front desk. There was a DJ for both nights, corn hole tournaments & bingo as well as face painting & a movie for the kiddos. We will for sure be back! read more

Family medical emergency occurred on 6/27/23. Medical condition worsened and on 7/3/23 I needed to cancel all my travel plans including the camping reservation for 7/10/23 to 7/12/23. Hoffman Lake Campground subsequently assessed a cancellation fee and the business extended a credit without giving me a choice of a refund. I was notified of this on 8/2/23 via email after my inquiry. This was an unavoidable cancellation. I was a returning customer. Avoid this business. They have no compassion. read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED. To say im very disappoined with Hoffman Lake Campground is an understatement. My grandparents and our family have had a seasonal campsite at Hoffman lake for 40+ years. Up until the ending of this last season there was not a bad word I could've ever said about Hoffman Lake, infact, we have recommended and referred a lot of people there. We absolutely loved it there, I grew up going every summer multiple times for the 20 years of my life. Obviously with time and age things change and life gets harder, for my grandma and grandpa these past couple of years its has become more difficult for them to get down to the camper as much as they would like to (its about an hour trip to get to the camper). Family situations, doctor appointments, prior commitments, and just life in general have put a strain on their camping life, however that NEVER stopped them from opening the camper at the beginning of the season and winterizing it at the end of the season all before it needed to be done and being PAID ON TIME. As of a month or so ago when my grandma and grandpa went to go winterize the camper for the season and pay for next season in advance they were informed by Mark, who I would like to add was on his fourwheeler, yards away from my grandparents car when they had stopped and asked him where they could go to pay for next season, he didnt even bother to get off his fourwheeler he proceeded to yell back at them "Im not renewing your campsite for you next year, you dont bring in any money for us" and then proceeded to ride off on his fourwheeler. They are no longer allowed to camp here anymore not in any fault of their own nothing was damaged no money was due late nothing like that they have always paid on time and they have always been very courteous campers they were told that they are no longer allowed to camp here anymore because they and our family do not bring in any money and do not come and bring people to make Hoffman lake campground any money. Now like I said 40+ years we have always camped with them and this is how they are treated? To say I'm very disappointed is the nicest way I could put it considering they are telling an 80-year-old couple that they have until November 1 to get out for no reason or fault of their own. I wont even get into how they decided to pull my grandparents camper out of the spot, tore the deck up, and damaged MULTIPLE things they had around the camper and threw them all ontop of the hill before you enter the campground. Im appalled at how they just treated my grandparents who are one of, if not the only people who have been with them the longest. Shame on you!!!! read more

Our family loves coming to Hoffman lake campgrounds ever year. Kelsy, mark, Bill, and Carol are super nice and help you out in any way possible. The cabins and bathrooms are clean and the lake is peaceful. The pool is always clean, full of water, and fun. The kids would be very sad if we couldn't go every year. You can tell Kelsy really enjoys running the camp. She puts her heart in it. Looking forward to next year. read more

Very impressed with the campground and staff. Reservation and check in was very quick and easy. We were showed our campsite which was a very nice large campsite. It was an all grass campsite but very well kept. Walked the campground several times seasonal people were very friendly as well as the staff. Bathrooms were very clean, although hotter water would have been a plus. It very nice campground that we will be returning to a few more times this year yet. read more

This campground is located right on Hoffman Lake. Much of the camp is taken by seasonal campers whose rvs, trailers etc. stay there for the entire season. Near the lake many of the trailers are dirty, old and run-down. So sad. They have the prime spots. The road nearest the water is narrow and people park their vehicles very close to the road making it almost impossible to maneuver a larger rv, The place itself is pretty clean and decent and the people who run it are efficient and helpful. We had one of the pull-thru sites. We had some really nice neighbors. However, the pull-thru sites are very close to one another. The fire pits are therefore right on-top of the trailer next to you. Consequently, we were smoked out and choking due to our neighbor's fire. Our neighbor was very accomodating. He realized this and moved his fire pit toward the back. When he did that, one of the people who run the place came by and yelled at him telling him to move the fire pit back where it belongs. When the neighbor explained what was happening, the worker didn't care and demanded it be moved back. Not good. This place is ok. It's a little far from Warsaw and Columbia City, but I guess it would be ok for a weekend. The lake itself isn't exactly a luxurious wonderful lake. It may be good for fishing, but that's about it. If we visit the area again we'd probably opt for a different place. read more

We had our grandchildren this week while we camped at Hoffman Lake Campground .My husband took our 1 year old grandson for his first game of miniature golf, so many precious memories. They also had fun in the swimming pool and splash-pad. Our 12 year old granddaughter also had many things to do, riding bikes, playing in the arcade and just making so many new friends. They have a very good playground, alot of children were playing ,I dont know what was there favorite the merry-go-round, the new playground equipment. We were glad the news swings had 2 baby swings. The lake is beautiful , we loved walking and seeing so much nature. Our favorite site was early one morning we looked across the lake and saw 2 deer, 1 was standing sideways and the other was looking straight at us from across the lake , in between them was a big white swan. At first look the campground is pretty close to the lake. After seeing our extremely small muddy site, things went down hill. As mentioned the site is small and the ground muddy and soft. My camper was wedged between a tree and the electric box meaning my slide out went into the campsite next to me. We had a water view site and the view was great and one of the best things of the campground. As for the other amenities, the pool was full of dead bugs. I don't thing they skim very often. The toilets in the men's locker room do not have locks so you have people opening the stall door while you do your business. Also, they keep the door propped open so the showers and toilets are also full of bugs. The other issue we had was that the breaker on the electric box kept tripping. We would come back after a day out and find the power out and the food in our fridge warm. My wife told the young girl in the office and she said she would send someone out however they never came. Ended up using the box on the empty site next to us. The worst part of the campground is the ownership and seasonal campers. This place I have to imagine is over 75% seasonal. It feels one step down from a trailer park. The ownership nickel and dime you to death. $10 to reserve the type of spot you want. $7 to put small boat in the lake on their ramp. We had guest come for lunch and had to pay almost $50 in guest fees for them to hang out for a couple hours and not to mention they had to park off property and take a long walk in. There are docks on the water for seasonal fishing boats. Multiple times seasonal campers would yell at kids fishing off the dock that it was private property and to get off the dock. I mean god forbid a kid tosses a line out on a dock. This place is NOT family friendly. A few of the seasonal sites had groups popping beers at 9 am. At night they were drunk, loud and in some cases harassed kids as they biked by. The owner rides around his little golf cart inspecting all the daily campers making sure they are not doing anything wrong always ready to threated to kick you out or fine you for something like moving a fire pit $50. All in all if you want to go to hang out at a trashy trailer park and drink till you are blinding drunk, by all means this is the place for you. If you want to enjoy a normal camping experience with your family STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!! We camped at Hoffman Lake Campground in a Travel Trailer. read more
