We had to buy a car for my daughter living in Florida as she wrecked her car and is getting her masters degree. The sales person Anastasia would not listen to what we were saying. My daughter picked out the car and I negotiated from Kentucky. We bought the car my daughter loved. I signed the forms electronically and was assured that everything was set including everything to transfer the title in Kentucky. They did not do what they promised. After my daughter tried by visiting them and emailing, no one would help and just handed her off to someone else. She called and no calls were returned. I emailed with no returns emails. I called and got put on hold. My daughter had to drive from Florida to Kentucky to finalize things for the title transfer. If I could give a negative rating, I would. Do NOT buy anything from here. He asked what brought us in and we informed him we were looking for a base model car for our 16 year old daughter. Long story short, because of Donavan, not only did we buy a brand new car for our daughter but also traded in a 22 Toyota for a new CX30. Let me start by saying that Devyn is a skilled salesperson at this dealership. He was very professional and I'm glad he was the initial point of contact. After receiving an offer, he took the quote to his manager Jack. We discussed and agreed upon the numbers, which I accepted. He instructed me to fill out a credit report via email with a provided link. Upon completion, I received a call a few minutes later. Jack informed me that the offer was no longer valid because his boss/GM required an additional $3500 cash down. His reasoning was that they were losing a substantial amount of money on this deal and could no longer proceed. If you think this is a tactic, I would agree with you. They claimed it wasn't a tactic because they never ran my credit report, despite filing online. Someone now has my personal information, including my social security number. Jack apologized while his GM was present and listening to our conversation. I was livid, as this has never happened to me in many years of dealing with dealerships. I lease every two years, trading in my vehicle before needing to visit the dealership. I contacted another dealership to inquire about Hodges Mazda, and the manager informed me that Hodges Mazda is notoriously bad, with many customers having similar experiences. I'll start off my saying I love my new car but very much wish I had gone to another dealership. Hodges Mazda changed the previously negotiated sales price AND trade in value on my final paperwork and I was a fool that didn't thoroughly review the details at signing. I was naïve to believe it was as we had agreed and feel as though I was likely purposefully distracted by conversation and pushy sales tactics during signing. I'm frustrated walking away from this experience feeling deceived but even more so disappointed in the lack of follow up or concern from their team to explain their discrepancies. Both myself and the dealership (admittedly) have the documentation outlining the original negotiated values. I've made multiple phone calls and emails over the last 6 weeks kindly asking only for an explanation but have been avoided and left with no answers. Terrible experience. The two salespeople we dealt with were rude, pushy, and disrespectful. The one we dealt with most kept trying to sell us a more expensive trim, which we didn't want because we preferred the features on the base model. We had said this multiple times which prompted a snarky comment from the salesperson to my partner about me while I was sitting right there. We reiterated AGAIN that we did not want to upgrade (why would we pay more for features we didn't want?) and that finally seemed to get them to relent. We ended up not being able to come to an agreement, and we left. A week or so later, we went back since we were given a number we felt comfortable with. We filled out the paperwork and left. Two days later the car arrived and we went to pick it up. The sun was going down and the car's interior lights were turned off, so it wasn't until the next day that my partner noticed the cut in the fabric of the front passenger seat. We immediately reached out with images to get it resolved. It's been almost three weeks and they still haven't even attempted to fix it. Oh, and we still haven't received the Gap insurance check. Yeah, we should have gone with Subaru... Also just got a call from the bank.. Turns out Mazda never paid off the vehicle that we traded in for the new (yet damaged) one. So now the bank thinks he's late on his car payment. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

My wife and I had bought our son a used 2011 Hyundai Sonata from Hodges Mazda that they had assured us had never been in an accident. We thought it a bit suspicious, because the front bumper was hanging off the car on the passenger side when they presented the car to us as an option in our price range. They played it off very nonchalantly; as if it was nothing, and got the bumper back on the car when we returned the following day. We tried to investigate the VIN number on our own to see if we could find anything to the contrary, but we were unable to. we didn't see anything else wrong with the car at the time, and the school year was about to start so we went ahead and purchased the vehicle. Fast forward to the present - it's two years later and Hyundai has a recall on their engines; which encompasses our son's 2011 Hyundai Sonata. So we bring it into Key Hyundai on Southside Boulevard (who, by the way, I highly recommend if you're ever shopping for a car). Key Hyundai replaced the engine but had one hell of a time getting the old one out, because it was found the car was, in fact, in a front end accident that requires the following parts be replaced: the radiator core support, the radiator assembly, the A/C condensor, the exhaust flex pipe, all of the lower engine covers were torn away and the evac and recharge after the A/C condensor is replaced. All OEM parts, labor and services totaled $4,000. All of this was hidden under the engine when the car was sold to us as a "thoroughly inspected and approved automobile for resale"; which is HIGHLY AGAINST THE LAW. This so-called dealership is the absolute worst I have ever encountered in my 55 years of life. It kills me to even give it the one star review, but I couldn't post this without at least selecting a star. This car was not an inexpensive investment to begin with. Hodges Mazda has done absolutely nothing to help us, and denies they knew anything about the damage to the car. PLEASE don't make the same mistake we did. Please go somewhere else and save yourself a lot of heartache, time and money. You've been forewarned. read more

We had an all around not great customer service experience recently. The vehicle was towed in likely needing a new starter. We also told the service advisor the car probably needed a new battery ground wire. While there, we asked to update the contact information for the vehicle as ownership changed to someone else in the family. New contact information was provided and we were told the car should be ready the same day. Unfortunately, our advisor Camille completely dropped the ball. She didn't update the contact information and kept contacting me so I then had to relay information to my family member. She also texted me an invoice of another custody by mistake that had their vehicle information, name and address immediately visible. Camille also didn't know the correct time frame and a same day repair lasted through the weekend and was completed on Monday. Camille also contacted me about the battery ground wire after we specifically asked them to check the wire. Camille was not very communicative and we had to speak to Adrianna, who I believe is the manager, regarding finalizing the repair and the pick up the vehicle after the weekend. After all was said and done, it took 3 days for the starter and battery ground wire to be repaired. The wait was apparently something that is normal when replacing a starter which would have been no problem had that been communicated clearly up front and to the correct person. read more

A great place to buy a car! (If you're friends with the owner) I inquired on a car on a Tuesday, upon learning that it is available, I asked about trading in two cars from out of state. The salesman told me that would be no problem, they have a team that could drive my new car up and my trade in's back down and that I should go ahead with the credit application. I submit my credit application a couple hours before close, heard I was approved and moved onto the next day, my salesman was off so no word on Wednesday. Thursday evening comes and I get a call that I may have to find other financing, not a big deal. I got an approval through my credit union and all was well. That's when the dealership went back on their word that they can no longer bring me the car, and that I would have to drive both 7+ hours to do the deal. After back and forth due to the lies stated above, we agreed that they could ship one of my cars down and I would drive the other, not ideal or what we agreed on before a credit application, but acceptable terms. That was on Saturday, come Monday I communicated with my salesman that I am signing loan documents and the check is in the mail to them to pay for the car. No response for a few hours, then I received a text that stated "I just got word that a friend of the owners came in about an hour ago and bought the vehicle. Since they were a friend we ended up selling them the vehicle." I made sure to ask if the rest of the dealership knew that car was SOLD with the loan funded and money actively on the way to the dealer, and the salesman responded "It was yes. The customer came this morning and is local." All in all, I was coerced into applying for financing on a car under a lie that they could bring me the car, and then after I secured my own financing and send them the money they sell the car out from under me because a friend of the owner walked in to look at a SOLD car. This was an all around terrible experience, and I hope this review will help you make a decision as to where you should buy your next vehicle, as mine will not be from a Hodges dealership. read more

Since when does a service department charge a service fee for using a credit card? The bill was several hundred dollars for a new tire. We got to check out and we're hit with a 3.5% service charge to use a credit card. That was definitely not in the quote or we would have brought cash. They had us over a barrel and took advantage of the situation. We own 2 Mazdas and will be sending our business elsewhere and telling our friends not to trust the service department. Very sad because we have sent many friends to this particular dealership and we regularly service our vehicles there. Not any more. read more

Felt pressured to give them 10 stars, also because if I didn't, I would have to deal with them again. Don't waste your time here. I was ready to buy and noticed there was a $2k discrepancy between the advertised price online and what I was quoted so I asked why there was a difference and the sales manager told me "If you don't like it, you can go somewhere else. We test drove a 2013 Toyota Corolla despite it being dirty and missing the glove the box. Not sure why it was dirty, even though I made plans days ahead to test drive it. It drove well, but when I took a look underneath, I noticed zip ties were holding the skid plate. I mentioned it to our sales person, and I thought I made it clear that I wanted the zip ties replaced with bolts. I eventually decided to purchase the car for my daughter, who attends UNF. I returned home and she was to pick up the vehicle when the glove box was installed and the car cleaned. Two days later, we find out the vehicle is infested with little roaches and the skid plate is scraping the ground. read more

This is my first ever brand new car, and I spent weeks test driving every mid size SUV in this class. Chief was communicative, patient, and took time to show me all of the features on the models I took a look at. I was ecstatic when he messaged to let me know that they had exactly what I was looking for, weeks earlier then expected! I did not enjoy my experience. The sales people and management were a little pushy, immature at times, and seemed like they were not being straight forward. I came prepared wanting to know about the used vehicle and all my questions were answered with "I don't know" instead of "let me find out for you" which is completely unprofessional. I used to bring my Mazda to them for service 10 years ago and it seems to me not much has changed even with a new staff. I stopped going to them for the same reasons. I wish my experience was better. The vehicle was not described as listed and in fact had quite a few issues discovered once we arrived and more found by a 3rd party mechanic. I understand the meaning of being sold "as is" and I was willing to pay for potential repairs, but the interior/exterior state of the vehicle were not included in the description and the staff seemed like they were trying to just make money. In fact, we were told that "selling cars like this is our bread and butter" by the general manager. Lots of things just didn't feel right about the entire experience. Do not recommend. read more

One the transmission blew the first day I got it, yes they replaced it but I was in and out of rental cars for 2 months. My only request or issue is the music they play in here. Every single time it's Christian music and I feel very uncomfortable listening to songs talking about God, and grace and stuff. The original purchase of my vehicle was ok. Took forever like most dealerships. The reason for this review is solely based on their SERVICE DEPARTMENT. They provided me with a coupon for an oil change which I presented at the time of service. Oil change completed. I pointed out that the price was too high based on my coupon and the service rep said she would take care of it. I received a call later stating they charged me the incorrect price... No problem, just credit my card. I was told I must bring my card back in. Pain. Fine, I would go there tomorrow. Called in the next day and was told they refused to credit my card and would instead give me back my coupon. WTH? Your error. Correct it. Service manager was NO help. Thanks but if you can't handle a simple credit for YOUR ERROR, you will never regain my trust or my business. If you buy from here, BEWARE their service is severely lacking. read more

Joe and Jesus took great care of my service and took the time to ride with me to identify an unidentified sound and then did the research to find the proper solution and resolve. Honestly, I'm always treated like more than just another sale when I take my car in for service or just the complimentary free lifetime washes. Integrity isn't always found in the car business, but it lives at Hodges. I'm glad I chose them for my car needs. We thought we were going to have a great transaction. But so far we have been told lies about what they still needed to send us cause they had to order the stuff. We bought our CX9 a month ago and so far it is a great car. But the dealership was supposed to send us the plastic pieces that were missing and also the all weather floor mats that were supposed to come with the vehicle which is part of there protection deal and we were told it was shipped out 2 weeks ago. Then they said oh yeah they are still waiting to get the plastic pieces and it would be here by the end of the week. Don't trust there promises. I am now dealing with Mazda them selves to get what we are supposed to have gotten. Ridiculous that we had to get the run around for something we paid for. Hoping we get this resolved in a better timely manner dealing with mazda than what the dealership has done.
