This place is right around the corner from my current apartment, and so checking it out was a…read moreno-brainer. I knew it was going to be small just from the area, but I didn't realize *how* small. You're almost always on top of someone or in someone's way, and though everyone was friendly about it, it definitely becomes an annoyance very quickly. I will say a couple of the photos here are super impressive in how they make the space look bigger. I had to stare at a few of them just to try to figure out how the hell they were taken.
Anyway, having cut my teeth climbing in a converted barn, I'm not really looking for polish when it comes to a climbing gym. However, when the shabbiness continues into the problem setting, that's when you'll lose me. And here, I just wasn't impressed. There were problems where you couldn't differentiate the holds for Problem A and Problem B as they intertwined, problems that felt lazily set, and too many that just seemed gimmicky.
At the end of the day, it's a climbing gym, so if you're nearby, short on time, and in need of a fix, it'll do. But given my choice, I'll hit up some of the other gyms in the area as a regular. It's worth the extra commute.
