I love this place - it says something that there's another alcohol shop not 30 feet from my front door and I still walk the full block and a half to Hoboken Vine. I usually have hard liquor so I'm easy, they have so much better pricing! I've been to Sparrow and they have a bit of an attitude! Plus this place has more of an open layout feel. The staff now is really helpful, I've seen them help other people - but I like to roam around and try different things and go with my gut, while playing loud music - so I look for things I've read online, etc. The only thing I wish they had is better priced Malbec from the Mendoza region. I tried the one from Chile, which was $12 and was hooked on it for a month but then wanted a Mendoza just to validate why I love it, but I think the cheapest they have is $18, so I bought it. And I can never go back to the Chile one, what was I thinking! Suffice it to say, would love a Mendoza Malbec for $13 or so. But great place, the staff is mostly men and they're friendly, engaging, quick! read more

While nothing truly exotic for wine afficianados, it has all the regular liquors and beers as you'd expect, and a decent, though not overwhelming selection of wines. A taste of a different wine available every week when I go in, so it's an opportunity to try something new each time. I really like Hoboken Vine and I wish I lived closer to it. There is a very comprehensive selection of brews here at fair prices. On top of that, they regular have specials, give out coupons, and give a discount to members of the New Jersey Craft Brew association. Guy at the counter is pleasant too. Add on top of that a parking lot and you have a great store. When I'm in the area, I stop by but the store is not so amazing that I go out of my way. read more

WILL NEVER SHOP HERE AGAIN- I just moved to the area and found this to be the most convenient location to shop. After continuous visits with less then stellar staff interactions (always watching videos on their phone, makes you feel like you're annoying them if you ask a question) I still continued to come because of their large selection, decent prices, and good location. Today, my friend and I set our 3 bottles on the counter to pay. After immediately correcting him that we would like to pay separately (transaction was not complete) we were reprimanded like children that we should have used separate shopping carts, told it was a huge inconvenience for him (to press one button), and how they don't need our business. I highly recommend shopping elsewhere, he either doesn't like women or maybe he's just a jerk to everyone but either way doesn't deserve the business. read more

Stopped in here after hearing they had a solid craft selection. Parking was a bit crazy, but ended up getting a spot on the street. Craft selection is not the largest or the best I've seen, but it is solid, and chances are you'll find something you like. There are several fridge cases for cold beer and a few shelves of bombers, both American craft and imported. Prices are competitive and fair. Went in thinking I was just going to run in and out with my bottles. Ended up spending a good fifteen minutes (or more) extra getting into beer-nerd talk with the guys who work there. Everyone was very personable, friendly, and dedicated - just the qualities you want in a neighborhood beer store. As my friend Bill says, "Beer people are the salt of the earth." This statement has proven true once again after a stop in Hoboken Vine. read more

I usually come to this store since it is really close to my house and I love their great wine selection, but I have been shocked about the price increase. I have also noticed that every month there is new workers who don't really seem like they know what they are doing. Was there any training? I am only writing this review because of my last encounter at this store with a cashier that I have went to many times. She has no f****** clue what she is doing or saying every time I ask her a question. I don't know if that's necessarily her fault or the training at this store but clearly there is a problem. read more

A little off the beaten path in Hoboken, and not as fancy as some other wine shops in town, but they have a great selection of beer and wines with really helpful employees. Plus they have a big bonus - parking! They are located in a small shopping center with it's own parking lot. Great stop for out-of-towners coming to Hoboken for a BYOB dinner. read more

I've only been here a couple times because there are 3+ liquor stores closer to me but whenever I'm in the area I stop by. They have a great selection and usually have some nice specials. Recommendations were good too. My only complaint is that they didn't ask me if I needed help sooner, as I was wandering around looking for something interesting and it was obvious I didn't exactly know what I was looking for. When I did ask for help they did a good job though :-) All in all I will definitely come back! Might try to order delivery from here next time I need a few things! read more

I used to live across the street, which meant I pretty much lived here, too. Still, even though I've moved and do not drive, I make the trip to Hoboken Vine as my number one choice in the area. I like Hoboken Vine because of their consistency, friendly staff and selection. The wine selection isn't out of this world, but if you take a gamble and try their suggestions (you'll know what I'm talking about if you read the little pieces of paper below some of the bottles), you'll always end up buying what you read, and therefore enjoying it (that is, if you understand what you're reading about). The staff is very friendly, and despite their young age, there isn't much turn over-rate like at other stores. In regards to Matt S.'s review, if you want something, then just ask and they'll pass it on to the owner, who is local. For the size of the store, they have plenty of wines that cater to the Hoboken public quite well. I've been to many liquor stores in Hoboken, and typically the ones that do carry mainly eclectic wines end up, unfortunately, going out of business. Hoboken Vine has continued to be Hoboken Vine for years now. In regards to their beer selection: they have lots and lots of beers. I don't drink beer, but when I occasionally give it a whirl, I usually ask the staff what to buy. One time this resulted in me drinking an entire case, so, tread lightly-- their suggestions are great but can cause a belly ache for the typical wine drinker. My boyfriend is an avid beer drinker, and is always super excited when I bring home new stuff for him to try. I haven't bought the same thing twice (aside from shandys) nearly all summer :) Again, they can't have it all, so, don't be a turd if they don't have that gin you tried in an underground bar in Berlin. To be frank, the day you find that in Hoboken, will be the day I give up drinking. read more

Hoboken Vine automatically gets 3 stars for being a Hoboken liquor store with a parking lot. Nevertheless, I'm pushing it up to four for the selection. I'm mostly a wine shopper, and this mid-sized liquor store has a decent selection with reasonable price points, yet certainly not deeply discounted as some of the local competition. Kudos to the buyer at this store, as the wine selection has the industry standards plus an eclectic selection of less-seen varietals. Plenty of beer in the fridge as well. Cheers! read more

Great shop in Hoboken especially if you're looking for a place that has free parking while you run in for what you need. Those who work here are extremely knowledgeable and personable. They were flooded badly during Sandy but still did their best to stay open for everyone. Definitely work visiting! I live a few blocks away and this is my go-to liquor store. If not only for the knowledgeable, helpful, unpretentious staff. All normal dudes who are easy to talk to and quick to give advice and lead you to the right bottle/case/handle. On multiple occasions I have approached the register with something obvious and common, and after talking to the an employee switched my selection for something cheaper and of better quality. I've seen better booze selections... but not in Hoboken, and not with a better staff. read more

I've been here several times since moving here in October. The beer selection here is really great especially for the seasonal varieties that you might be in search of. I will have to agree with a previous comment in that the wine selection isn't as extensive as you might expect from a store with "vine" in the title but it's also not minuscule, either. But it being so close to my apartment and always having lots of cold beer and nice workers, I'll keep coming back. read more

Always a great trip to hoboken vine! With the many byob places in hoboken , this is my go-to for a nice bottle of wine, i never hesitate to ask these guys for a recommendation. I have found myself stuck in the spanish section, malbecs and spanish reds, but now that the weather is nice i think its time for some rosé! Their Wine tasting on saturdays are always a plus if you're undecided. And if you're a bit of a craft beer enthusiast like myself, the selection here is pretty awesome. This place is a hidden gem! Was walking to the beer outlet to get a keg (and trying to figure out how I would transport it back to my apt without a car) when I can upon this place. Their keg was cheaper AND they offered delivery for only like $7. It was a lifesaver!!! I'm a big fan of the vine--it's been my go to liquor store for some time now. I've always been able to find whatever I'm looking for, but one of the reasons this store is so great is that you often walk out with something new to try based on a recommendation from the friendly and helpful staff. If you like craft beer you'll be in heaven here--they have a great selection that they're always adding to. Huge wine selection as well. Knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices. My experience was great and the staff seem to represent the common man. Is that paint splotch and gruffy beard a sign of late nights working at a easel? Or maybe couch sitting after a day painting the apartment? Who knows, who cares, they give wine advice and don't look at you funny when you ask for wines outside the norm. While I do enjoy the variety of alcoholic beverages, it is so disappointing that they cannot have a proper Keg purchasing system. This will be the second time I have purchased kegs from the store, and while they have suggested fine craft beer options, I am very disappointed at the lack of proper scheduling to pick up kegs. I placed the order on Monday, and today is Friday, and the kegs have yet to arrive at the store. It is just frustrating because this happened last time, but I was able to work something out by picking up one of the kegs that hadn't arrived at the store at their other location in Jersey City. Assume I needed the kegs prior to "around 6" as I was told they were going to be in the store. How do you not know when the kegs will arrive, or rather, why do you seek it fit to have them arrive that late when I specifically said I needed them on Friday with much lead time as to not be disappointed at their tardiness once again? Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Great store to pick up beer and such, but if you're looking to buy a keg(s), take a trip a block up to Hoboken Beer and Soda...or maybe giving them 2+ weeks notice might get you the kegs at the store the morning of the day you need it. read more

I agree with all of these great reviews for Hoboken Vine. It is an excellent store. I was surprised no one has yet mentioned their pretty decent gluten-free section though. Of all of the liquor stores I have checked in so far (GF can be VERY hard to find!), they have the best gluten free selection I have seen. It is not a complete isle full or anything, but it is more than most other places. A worthwhile trip for us beer drinkers who happen to be G-Free as well! read more

I've been a loyal customer since they've opened approximately 10 years ago. The staff has always been polite, respectful and I've never been misguided with their suggestions for good wine. Comparatively speaking they are very reasonably priced and offer a good variety as well. For family gatherings, including christenings and communion parties for our kids, we've purchased in bulk and could not have been happier with their recommendations to accommodate a diverse group of guests. The store is conveniently located in a strip mall with parking which is a big plus. I've recommended the place numerous times and will continue to do so. read more
