Believe it or not the foundation stone for the building was laid in 1897 and was served as a police station for the next 73 years. In the 1970s it was turned into a Community Centre and is right next to Hill Top Library. The Community Centre is available to local people and is also available to hire. From social meetings, clubs and parties these are some of the events that can be held at the Centre. There is a Large Room and Small Room that can be hired out. Attending Tabla class at the Community Centre means I am at the Centre on a regular basis. Our class takes place in the Large Room and to be honest it is pretty spacious. Youth Clubs, Slimming Clubs as well as Luncheon Clubs take place at the Community Centre.

The All Saints Centre is one of those does-a-bit-of-everything institution. It's a recent development on the Kings Heath high street, it neighbours All Saints Church and opens out onto the new Kings Heath Square. Being a very light and spacious centre this creates an uplifting atmosphere to the place. It is a wonderful resource for all of the community to rightfully enjoy. The function of it is broad, so if you need a large space for an event then I'm sure the centre could cater for your needs. The All Saint Centre is a great local asset - with many worthwhile causes to get involved with.

By homewares I…read moredon't just mean crockery and ceramics - but anything remotely hobbyist: think yarn, knitting needles, candle holders, weird carved wooden creatures, anything that might make a crazy awesome present for my weird friends. I think this particular branch of the Sally Army was a bit of a disappointment for me, as they stocked a LOT of clothes, but not a lot else. There was a small array of books, but nothing to pique my interest. If you're after anything for your wardobe - this shop has the most clothes wedged in out of any charity shop I went to in Halesowen!

The original Salvation Army hall was destroyed to make way for the massive Tesco that now looms over the town. This replacement hall was built on Meredith Street and as these places go, it is a pretty smart and well-equipped place of worship. There's a big car park, which is always packed during services. There's also a nice conservatory/café area here they hold craft groups, meet ups and meals for local elderly people. They also have a play area and run moms and toddlers groups.

It's important to remember that this is both a youth and community centre. With a pool table, a recording studio, big TV and a sport hall there is always something to do and at the very least it is a safe place for young people to hang out with their friends. In schools holidays the youth service offer day time activities from trips out to the Duke of Edinburgh Award. The community centre acts as a space for groups and clubs to hire out from a church group, a dance crew, to karate classes there is a diverse timetable of things going on that will be of interest to someone in your family. Whilst it's brilliant having such a great community space with community members putting stuff on they still need people to support and attend, if you live nearby or have just moved to the area then pop in and chat to someone as they are a friendly enough bunch to help.
