Unplugged the kid from his video games to go create art today! WOW what an amazing little gem this…read moreplace is! We decided on glass art but can't wait to come back to hand paint some of their pottery, which the selection is far better then anywhere we've ever seen! They also have spin art which is on our list as well! Already planning our birthday party here which will be a refreshing change from bowling. Emily was so patient and fun with my 12yr old, and made sure the design was 100% his! Loved that! Thanks for offering a cool space for our creativity Moth Wing! See ya again soon

There are so many different ceramic paint colors to choose from as well. The fused glass art section has so many beautiful colors of glass to choose from. There are lots of different sizes of the background glass to use and so many different tools to make sure you can create whatever you can think up. They also have spin art and a section of cute crafts for kids in addition to lots of ceramic choices for kids of all ages. The vibe here is so relaxing and peaceful. The people who work here are super friendly and will assist you with any questions you have but they won't hover over you, so you get a great experience just getting lost in your creativity. It's so beautiful inside the studio and it's very cozy feeling. You can reserve groups and birthday parties here too. They host a variety of special events as well. Moth Wing Studios is an excellent addition to Chesterton!

On one side of the shop, they have fibers, floss, beads, etc. The other side has piles and piles of fabric, neatly arranged. In the middle, it's patterns (and some notions) as far as the eye can see. I found their selection to be very complete, and the employees were particularly delightful! It probably helped that it was a slick, snowy day, and they were impressed I had come by, since nobody was really on the streets at all. Some highlights: - I overheard one of the salespeople organizing a sale via the phone, so their online and "phone it in" orders seem robust. She said the order would go out in the mail that day, and I saw her taking a good amount of time to choose the couple of fabrics that would most closely match the customer's request, and give a recommendation as to which one the customer would actually buy. - To illustrate fabric count, they had a wall hanging of the same design stitched on four differently-sized fabrics, which was neat - They had lots of finishing supplies to help even the most indecisive person figure out how they want to finish - Their store models obviously came from years and years of stitching, so I imagine the collective knowledge in the store was pretty impressive. So if you're into needlework, it's worthwhile to check out. Especially if you're from Chicago it's worthwhile to make the short trip.
