We were told to go here after my partner started having back problems. He didn't listen to anything we said and he ordered an MRI. When I asked him if there was something I could do at home he immediately stated he couldn't write perscritions for drugs. That isn't even what I was looking for, I was looking for advice like massages or ice or something. I felt extremely disrespected. We went and got the MRI done and he not only didn't go over the report (to the point where we had no idea there was even a report in the images) and said that everything looked perfect (after only looking at two slides) and said we had to go to a different doctor who specialized in spines. We went to this other doctor to find out there was actually something wrong with his back, it was clearly noticable on one of the slides (that he didn't show us) and it said so in the report that he never went over. Worst doctors visit and care ever. I wouldn't go back to him or suggest anyone go to him in a million years. read more

Dr. Ho reconstructed my ankle many years ago. Great manners and very professional. Did an excellent job. Saw him a number of years back for a partial tear with my Achilles after giving judo a try. Dr. Ho was honest but professional questioning my desire to pursue a "young" man's sport. Fair enough and much appreciated his professional candor. Highly recommend Dr. Ho. read more

I went to Dr. Ho for a back injury. After the first visit he sent me for an MRI. At the second visit, the MRI found a herniated disc and I told him I was experiencing leg weakness and numbness. He said "you realize that I specialize in cancer, not spine problems", and referred me to some other doctors. No Dr. Ho, I didn't realize that you weren't qualified to treat spine problems. If that was the case, why didn't you say so when I made the first appointment, or at least when you saw me? read more

Dr. Lin was referred by mom's primary doctor for her knee pain. After having my mom take some x-rays, Dr. Ho explained what was causing the pain. He advised not having surgery and prescribed Celebrex and a diuretic to treat the pain. He explained that his mom had the similar issues with her knees as my mom and was treated with medication as well. Over several follow-up appointments, Dr. Ho has noticed the decreased swelling and the overall improvements with my mom's knee. He said that my mom should continue to take the medication and he will make another evaluation at the next appointment. I have noticed my mom's improvements in that she is not as dependent on the use of her cane. Dr. Lin is very personable, knowledgeable and takes the time to carefully explain things and how best to treat the issue. Scheduling an appointment is not a problem and his front office staff are friendly and welcoming as well. Dr. Lin is highly recommended. read more

I cannot recommend Dr. Ho highly enough. He is very professional and an expert surgeon. I had a THR on my left side in 2014 and this year (2019) I had a THR on the right side. His staff is always professional and cheerful and both Dr. Ho and his staff treat each of their patients with utmost care and concern of wellbeing. Dr. Ho's surgical team is also superior. The entire procedure both times was done exactly on time and as quickly as possible. As a result, my recovery was quicker and I am so grateful the pain is gone. He is a master! read more

I am generally skeptical of new doctors as I think most of them are there just to make money and are not caring about their patient. The last orthopedic I went to made me wait for an hour and kicked me out from the office in less than a min and charged me $200. Dr. Ho is a nice guy. He's funny and sociable. He has been practicing for 30 years, which made me trust him. He talked to me and listen to the story of my knees and their problems. He also listened to my questions and answered them with smile. He did not rush me out. I also like his staff Donna(I think thats what her name was), she was very smiley and friendly. Though, I did have to wait pretty long time to see him and also to reschedule my appointment. Overall, I'm happy to find a good orthopedic doctor in SF. read more

It took 10 days to get an appointment but the wait was so worth it. Dr. Ho's staff was delightful, cheerful and friendly. Dr. Ho himself was great. He took care in listening to my story and finding out my medical history; he explained what he was checking for during his exam; he had practical suggestions for me to lessen and resolve my knee pain. No unnecessary tests, no extraordinary costs, no run-around, just plain simple diagnosis and advice. And Dr. Ho was fun and witty along the way. A great experience. I left feeling so much better. 5 stars indeed! read more

I went to Dr. Ho after I fell down a cliff hiking 5/2010 and messed up my knees. I chose him because of his Yelp reviews. I had an A+ experience with him and would recommend him to anyone needing help from an Orthopedist. He was friendly, smart, funny and kind. He knows his business. I'm in love with his 2 office helpers Debbie & Donna, they couldn't be nicer! His office is small so you never feel like just a case number. I had to have ACL replacement surgery (knee tendon) and I feel like I chose the best doctor in this city (thanks Yelpers!). My surgery with Dr. Ho went without a hitch, and he continues to impress me with his after-care. read more

I have seen Dr. Ho for two separate issues over the last three years. He is the best there is. He asks good questions, LISTENS to your answers, orders tests as necessary, and helps you understand what is wrong and how to resolve it. Though he is a surgeon, he treats surgery as what it should be: a last resort. His staff is outstanding. They are caring, responsive, and responsible. If you need an orthopedist and can see Dr. Ho, do. You will be in good hands. read more

Dr. Lin Ho performed a total knee replacement surgery for my grandmother about 5 months ago. He is by far the best and most caring surgeon I have ever met. My grandma sees Dr. Ho every month for a follow up. He is very gentle in the way he addresses my grandma and is always concerned about her well being. On the day my grandma went home after her re hab, Dr. Ho took the time to call my grandma to see how she was doing. Getting medication was piece of cake. If he says he will notify Walgreen's for a prescription within the hour, it happens! He's great! Highly recommend him. If you make an appointment, keep it. It is hard to get an appointment because he's so busy. Very professional and approachable. read more

Dr. Lin Ho is amazing! I was recommended to him by my regular doctor and I am so pleased and thrilled that i was referred to him. After tearing my ACL 20 yrs ago playing basketball, he suggested that we need to go in and repair asap. They had me booked within 2 weeks for surgery. I stayed one night in the hospital for observation and was told by many nurses and doctors there that I am in good hands with Dr. Ho and his staff. It has been 1 month since the operation and all is perfect. His staff, Debbie and Donna, are the sweetest and most professional individuals you have ever met. I would most definitely recommend anyone who is considering "orthopedic surgery" to consult with Dr Ho. read more

Dr. Ho is the best orthopedic dr/surgeon ever! I honestly think of him as a miracle worker, here's why- My knee started hurting about a year and a half ago to the point where I had to take painkillers daily (which will mess up your stomach pretty fast). I was first advised by my general doctor to go to physical therapy which i did for 4 months, i did all the exercises and went to all my appointments, but there was no improvement at all. I finally went to see Dr. Ho, he asked me a couple questions, bent my knee in a couple directions asking me when it hurt, then sent me to get xrays (which was in the CPMC hospital, about half a block away). He told me to come back with my xray films (took less than an hr), he looked at them, explained them to me, we chatted a little more, then he told me to get an MRI. After the MRI, he told me what was wrong (won't bore you with the details) but essentially had to have something removed from my knee. He told me I could have minor arthroscopic surgery to remove it. His staff set up the whole thing for me, I had my surgery at CPMC about a month later, i just had to tell them what day worked for me and they did the rest. On the day of my surgery, I went in to the hospital around 9, he chatted with me before my surgery, i was out of the operating room by 2pm, and out of the hospital, feeling fine, by 5pm. I felt little to no pain that day, i only took half a vicodin. I slept the rest of my surgery day, woke up the next day, NO PAIN, walking around my house. I spent the rest of my weekend (my surgery was on a thurs) at home, elevating and icing my knee feeling totally fine. I saw Dr. Ho that following Mon, he removed my stitches (again, totally didnt hurt), then i went to work. My knee felt totally better about 2 days after my surgery. No more meds, no pain! Along with being an awesome surgeon, he's such a nice guy, his staff is super friendly and making appointments/reaching his office is a cinch! LOVE HIM! read more

I had an excellent experience with Dr. Ho. I saw him after an injury to my knee. He was very knowledgable about the injury and very informative about the surgery, recovery, and rehabilitation process. He took notes and was very attentive in all of my office visits. The surgery itself was very successful, and follow-up visits were frequent up through the physical therapy period. I was very well taken care of by Dr. Ho and his staff, and would not hesitate to recommend him if you're in need of an orthopedic surgeon. read more

After visiting a beloved chiropractor, nurse practitioner and physical therapy practice for my injured rotary cuff, I landed at the office of Lin Ho, M.D, an orthopedic surgeon at 2340 Clay Street, in Pac Heights. Dr. Ho completely surpassed all my expectations. He was down to earth, funny, and educated me about what I needed to do and what not to do until our next appointment. My follow up meeting this morning was as lovely, pleasant and refreshingly candid as the first appointment. I did not have to wait long in the waiting room and his reception staff was friendly and recognized me! Against a wall of xrays, Dr. Ho showed me where the partial tear was, what was normal and what showed the tear and how much worse it could get. He advised against surgery! He asked questions, listened and was optimistic about the natural healing prospects. He also advised me against cortisone shots! I highly recommend Dr. Ho. Jeremy Stone read more

I saw Dr. Ho for a herniated disk in my neck back in 2009. He is honest and down to earth. He did not pressure me to have surgery, and I'm sure glad I went to him. I recovered well. He explained to me my circumstances as if he was in my shoes. I value that. I highly recommend Dr. Ho for his bedside manners and experienced skills. read more

I cannot recommend Dr. Ho enough. I recently had a hip replacement and Dr. Ho was my surgeon. He did an excellent job with both pre and post care. I am 200% better in my movement and everyday activities because of this surgery and Dr. Ho's attention and follow-up. Also, his office staff is outstanding as well as supporting with every admin detail. Great team. Thanks Dr.Lin Ho read more

I live for snowboarding and golf (AND food). My back gave me major problems in 2005 where I had to go to an orthopaedic surgeon (that will remain anonymous. He gets a -1 star.) This character said I should stop snowboarding and golfing because they are the two worse sports for my back. That is NOT what I wanted to hear. Then he ordered an epidural as the solution and I said "f_ck that sh_t". I did not want to mask the pain. I wanted to remedy it. So, I ignored the pain, took drugs and continued to enjoy my sports. Landing the boxes in the park at Kirkwood was my goal this year. No pain no gain. Right? But, my back started to act up when I played golf a few weeks ago. A sharp pain shot down my leg and I thought....geez, are my hips going out on me? Went to my cool primary doctor Lisa and asked if she could recommend 'another' orthopedic surgeon that relates to sport injuries. Voilà - Dr. Lin Ho! Heaven is at 2340 Clay Street, Suite 610. You are graciously greeted by Dr. Ho's 2 guardian angels (or his right hand and left hand girls) Donna & Debbie. They both go beyond the call of duty. Like doctor like assistants. While waiting for my appointment, I was nervous. I did not want to have another bad experience. The door opens and a smiling head pops out with a friendly voice. Whew...relieved already. Dr. Ho introduces himself and we talk, he checks my mobility and sends me off to have a MRI done. I am in the skateboarding and snowboarding industry. Dr. Ho is an athlete. He's a cyclist (and hella fit for his young age of 65). He knows how important it is to enjoy our sports of choice. He's my kind of doctor. He wants to remedy the source because he knows what 'quality of life' is. So, if you have any bone problems or need a 2nd opinion, look no further. Dr. Lin Ho is next to God. He is super COOL, charming, knowledgeable, crazy ass friendly, attentive, caring, extremely diligent and someone you can even call a friend. He also takes care a lot of our fellow skateboarders and snowboarders in the City. So, that's a plus in my book. Thank you, Dr. Ho! I am so glad you left Rhode Island (or somewhere back east) for us in San Francisco!!! We need you here more! read more

I was referred to Dr. Ho for evaluation of a painful mass in my left thigh. After evaluating me, he proceeded to show me my MRI, and pointed out where all the fat in my thigh was. He then told me I needed to lose weight. I've NEVER been called fat (Body Mass Index- 24), nor have I ever been as insulted in my whole entire life. I would not recommend this insensitive physician to anyone. read more

I tore my ACL in 1995 while skiing. Long story short, Dr. Ho walked me through my options and explained .the long term effects with and without surgery. I opted for surgery because I want to do the things I like to do. Well it is 2012 and my surgically repaired knee is in great shape and I have never had any issues. I am now going to him for my other knee which just started acting up. I went back because my initial experience was great. read more

I went to Dr. Ho today and had a wonderful experience. This will be a short but sweet review. Dr. Ho was personable, knowledgeable and so helpful. I feel so much better about my hip condition after meeting with him. He gave good advice and also the front office staff were wonderful. I arrived early, he took me in early, got X-rays across the street, came back and got evaluated - all within a 1 1/2 hour period. Dr. Ho came highly referred by my primary care physician and now I know why - because he's an excellent Dr. and very easy to talk with . Thank you Dr. Ho and staff! read more

I visited Dr. Ho after being referred by my PCP. I had an appointment yet waited nearly 2 hours to be seen. Immediately he berated my weight and told me I needed antidepressants. My exam consisted of Dr. Ho asking me to bend forward at the waist. He did not order an xray! I was first misdiagnosed with carpal tunnel and had both wrists operated on by a hand surgeon my employer (CPMC) sent me to. I still had numbness radiating from my neck to my feet then told it was my weight. Back to my PCP who said it was my right shoulder and he treated me for over a year with steroid injections with no relief of my pain, numbness & tingling pains....referred to Ho who insulted me & I left his office sat in my car and cried. My pain was real NOT psychiatric...Finally I was referred to Dr. Grey, a shoulder specialist who did xrays in his office and told me I had herniated discs C3-5 causing all my pain and promptly referred me to Dr. M. Sutro a spine specialist. I might add both of these doctors treated me with respect, thoroughly examined me without insulting me regarding my then obesity. I had surgical fusion plus treatment for spondylosis in my back. Dr. Ho is scary to look at, I recall thinking he looked like Dr Spock with his shaved eyebrows and general dishelved appearance. His office girls are all smiley & giggle a lot because they do not have command of English. I have since shed all the weight I carried. There are so many physicians out there with bias against fat people & Dr. Ho is one of them. Even if he had taken the time to order tests I didnt trust or like him so rude & arrogant! Stay away from this provider he is insensitive, arrogant and racist. My journey to get diagnosed & treated as a fat person was a long & painful one both physically & psycholgically...after his insults I went home & didnt leave my home for months. But Ahh now I'm thin enough rich enough and have become comfortable in my own skin. Ugh Dr Ho doesnt even deserve 1 star & I want my $65.00 copay back, yeah right lol. Beware & stay away from Dr Ho and his silly staff read more
