I especially appreciate the wealth of options available, including a swimming pool, an indoor tennis court, and many classes. The staff members (especially Sydney) are always friendly and welcoming. My only suggestion would be to extend the operating hours, as it would be much easier for me to fit in a workout when I finish working quite late. My absolute favorite part of the YMCA is their small community garden, which is a unique and thoughtful amenity. Members are welcome to pick ripe fruits and herbs, which is a huge bonus. I even took some aloe vera to propagate and plant in my own home garden! This special touch really fosters a sense of community and provides a lovely connection to nature alongside the fitness facilities.

Annual charity events bring out the community to watch and participate. Very casual and relaxed because it's all about having a good time. Quality/Quantity - If you are following, you know that this is my "lazy" vacation. I have just been…read moreeating poke and drinking. The problem is that I have been eating approximately a pound of poke with a few beers. So I am glad this island has a PF. Going to start coming daily to work off some of that excess food! Day 2 - Plumbing issues corrected. The showers were working and the water fountains were working. Some machines were still not repaired. Day 3 - I am a local now (again); lol. Day etc.... Ambiance - A good size location. Fairly busy, consistent in traffic. And it was my first day on Tuesday at 10am. Many equipment are out of order; showers, bottle water refill dispenser, my TV on my treadmill, etc. I was able to use my typical machines with no wait. Fairly established. Plenty of mall parking. Open 24 hours Mondays to Fridays; well on Fridays until 10pm. Saturdays and Sundays from 7am to 7pm. Day 2 was busier than day one. But I was still able to use most of the machines I typically use. I only had to wait for one machine. Service - The team is friendly. The manager could have been more engaging?!?! The people here working out kept to themselves. The machines were a little different than the ones in CA and NV; so it took a while for the team to realize I did not know how to use it. Then I noticed others did not know how to use either, guess we were all here for the first time, lol. Day 2 - The manager was more engaging, thank you. But now I have learned your system and am dark enough to be a local, lol. See my first Yelp reviews as a tourist... Price - $19 to $38 a month depending on the level of membership. We have the black card. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 1992 with your 2,900+ locations. And with this location since 2018.

After completing four months of membership at planet fitness and about 35 visits this is what I'd…read morelike to say. Overall, the members are very conscientious about sharing the equipment and behaving nicely with each other. There's a slightly religious theme that underlines the members sportswear, many wear T-shirts with Christian messages. It kind of reflects Hawaii's core conservatism. In fact there's more Christian T-shirts here than when I used to be a member of the YMCA. There is an older gentleman who I think acts like an informal pastor to members but he's not excessively pushy. It does get busy after work and there are a few GYM RAT type people of both genders that try to monopolize the equipment but overall that also has been manageable. Equipment at this gym is supposedly fairly new and it seems to be being maintained. As a somewhat of an environmentalist, I think an excessive amount of paper and Cleaner is used on the machine, surfaces, its better to have extra clean pads and handles than dirty handles and pads. There are two large fans by the cable machines and some of the aerobics stations that keep the air moving. If you're concerned about infection control, you can do a fair amount of working out under those stations and reduce your risk of airborne infection some of the other back areas of the gym do not have as good airflow in my opinion. I do see people wearing masks from time to time there. I imagine they may have more health concerns, which I think is reasonable in a indoor place with a large number of people. The locker room that I use is functional. In most cases the restrooms appear clean enough for the amount of use they get. Based on a demographic of who uses this gym, there aren't a lot of homeless people or marginal people using location it as their cleanup center. I'm unaware of any theft problems. I did have my car damaged in the parking lot the spots are narrow and someone with a bigger car damaged my bumper as they were turning out of the spot, which probably would cost more to repair than my entire year's membership, so be careful where how you park. Of course that's not the stores fault. I really hardly have spoken to the staff in the four months I've worked out there, but they have been responsive and they seem to divide the labor between doing front deskwork and maintaining and cleaning the facility. I would like the place to be open a bit later on Saturday night so I could work out after I finish my job but overall there is plenty of hours to use the facility. One thing I really like about the planet fitness is it has a no trainer policy. Trainers maximize gym equipment call attention to themselves and try to get their clients preferential treatment. I find it to be a big distraction in a gym and is inconsistent the planet fitness, no judgment philosophy. There are people who seem to act like self appointed trainers within groups of their of people working out, but so far it has not been a problem for me to adequately use equipment for workouts. And I did see someone wearing what I would believe to be a local gang affiliated T-shirt while they were working out in a group which concerns me, but I wasn't gonna be complaining about it. I have had people try to stare me down, while I am using equipment to make me feel uncomfortable, but I've also handled that without confrontation. So so far I would say this place is a five star experience hopefully I'll do another review after another 35 visits. Maybe I'll be a little more buff after another 35 visits and have some different insights

It really shows in their senior belts. They teach self defense and how to deal with bullying through verbal communication as well as educating you why a physical altercation is a last resort. We tried many other seasonal sports but i wanted something my family could do all year around. The knowledge my kids have learned and the confidence thay have gained from OMA has benefited them in so many ways in school and in everyday life.
