Lots of pioneer goodies!! And a great museum and gift shop area. Only sad part ~ there was a chicken coop, but no chickens!! And horses would have been cool to pet too. There were cows, but too far away from the fence.

We visited the main building which had many examples of artifacts that reflect what time was like in FL back in time. My favorites were seeing the Victorian Doll Houses and seeing how detailed the homes were. I also loved seeing the dolls and the types of clothes they would be wearing by decade. My favorite was walking through the back. It was a nice sized village that had a church, school, train station, home, grove, garage, tool shed, barn, etc. There was a number of activities, actual people dressed back in time, animals, etc. There is a lot to see here. They often have special events throughout the year. If you like their Facebook, their events will pop up. Their next event has to do with their popular homemade sugar cane. That event will be Jan. 9. This place is fun, pretty, & educational at the same time.

A great place to visit if you're in the Ocala area, located inside the Silver Spring State Park…read morewith access from the 58th Avenue park entrance (Campground side of the Park). This little museum is definitely worth a few hours of your time if you're interested in early Florida history. The staff here was very outgoing and quick to answer any questions you may have, the $2.00 admission is a bargain and supports the educational efforts so your park admission and discounts won't apply but it's still such a bargain. I see they post signs daily on the entrance road letting you know the hours, it appears they are not open everyday so I recommend you check before making the drive and paying admission to the park especially if this is your destination and reason for entering the park. It really is a beautiful collection of historic items that tells the story of the park which I found very interesting, it was quite the roadside attraction in its heyday with the springs and glass bottom boats as well as early movie sets - they do have an original glass bottom boat from the 1930's onsite and great examples of dwellings from early Florida across the grounds so the museum itself is just a small part of the total experience...

This was an excellent trip through the history of the north central Florida mainly told from…read morearcheological, geological and historical perspectives. They had tiny flint points to a towering mammoth skeleton and everything in between. And megladons! I was surprised how heavy the cannonball was and how the soft raccoon fur felt. They also have friendly and very knowledgeable volunteers that made the canoe exhibit come to life. Shout out to Sandy for sharing part of her day and let us have even more fun at the museum. Ok, now get the next angle! We wanted a cool place to beat the heat on a Saturday afternoon and we ended up learning, laughing and enjoying each other's company. FYI if you get stuck guest1 is the answer;)

The young manager was called and he seemed overwhelmed with what to do with a crying child. Really just overwhelmed with the situation. Overall I'm disheartened by the response by the team because as my daughter was limping through the souvenirs, she really wanted a toy. But all the manager offered was a small discount. My daughter kept apologizing like she was the one who did something wrong when it's their fault she cut her foot by not keeping chairs and materials safe. It was a $10 toy. It's not like we demanded refunds or free tickets for a future visit. And they couldn't be bothered to help her trip end on a good note. It's it like we did something wrong. No one expected a screw to be sticking up in the splash pad area! Thank you for nothing.

We had tickets for the after hours iMax show, Dark Side of the Moon. The event was well organized…read more We checked in on the first floor and got our VIP wrist bands for preferred entry. Then we walked up to the third (second?) level for the theatre. We got in the left queue, which was for preferred. The show started at 6, and we were allowed in at 5:45. We chose seats in front of a large box which might have been part of the projection system. For future shows, behind it a row or two would be better. We found ourselves putting our head back and craning our neck left and right frequently during the show. The seats were comfortable. The sound and picture quality were the best! For about 47 minutes we were completely immersed in the music of Pink Floyd and brilliant images of the world or subject matter of the songs on the album. Exiting the theatre was as easy as entering it. We walked down the stairs and walked outside to get to our car, parked nearby. Cars were coming in for the next show, so they took our space as we pulled out and left. We saw this show 2 years ago at a venue in St. Petersburg. We paid for parking. Parking was free at MOSI. We sat in lawn chairs that were not comfortable, and our necks hurt after the show. The sound was not as full and crisp as MOSI, and the hole in the center of the dome above us was distracting and took away from the immersive experience. The MOSI Experience was almost double the cost, but everything about it was superior to the Pinellas County immersive event.

A ton of hands on games and projects. We will be coming back. The science shows w was fun too. Warning for nursing moms who don't like to nurse in public , online it said they have a private space to breastfeed. When they brought me to it, it was a party room. One female employee walked in which is not a big deal but then another employee was giving a tour to several adult men which was very uncomfortable. I would ensure you have a cover. I understand not every place can accommodate, but they could have a sign or simply not offer it.
