Came to town to get a good load of Olive Oil to bring home (Roi - just on the south end of the village). But since we took a 2.5 hour drive to get here, we took the chance for a walk around the village. And we were really suprised. What a charming village, full of character.
We parked across the river on the free parking lot. From there you will spot your first sight, the Ponte Romano - the old Roman bridge. Across the street you will access the small, but pretty (and traffic free) village. The center has a pretty square with a nice little bar and an impressive church, the "Chiesa Parrocchiale di Santa Maria Assunta e San Giorgio". A real stunner. Just a bit further north you will reach the "Laghetti di Badalucco", a section of the river with flat waterfalls. Nice place to be, to take a dip or to enjoy a picnic.
But also the rest of the village is incredibly cute. Wonderful old buildings, old entrances to old cellars, pretty little backlanes. Real fun to explore.
So, if you want to see a traditional, charming Italian village without all the tourism, this is a good chance. We've only seen two other visitors and a handful of locals. A peaceful place. And don't miss out on buying some of this delicous olive oil. read more
