The case for the legal fees went to a Circuit Court of Virginia hearing My lawyer decided not to attend and instead sent a junior partner, Bret Giaimo, whose hands were visibly shaking and voice kept breaking up with nerves. Judge Stoney was clearly not satisfied with the Giaimo's explanation for Jaros' billing practices and awarded me only 70% of my costs as reasonable, leaving me over $11,000 out of pocket. When I asked Jaros to amend his billing to better reflect what the judge determined as reasonable, he refused. Even when I asked him to split the difference he flatly refused. To add insult to inquiry, after the court hearing Jaros sent me a long email telling me that I should look at this as a victory because the defendants were not happy with the amount they had to pay out . He then billed me a further $113 for the 'pleasure' of his email. Overall, I was billed more than $40,000 and was awarded $29,000 by the court as reasonable fees. After this, I was assigned to another attorney within the firm. The representation itself was fine, but I did feel that there was unneeded back-and-forth at times, with each message being billed at a rate of 6 minutes, it all adds up. The tipping point was when I emailed asking if we could reach out to the other party's representation and also asked if there were any strategies to move toward a resolution. I received a response stating "It is good to hear from you. It probably makes sense for you to reach out to [other party regarding my question] and the need to reach a resolution. If you are able to reach an agreement, then we can help you to memorialize its terms." I was surprised when I was charged for this, and when I asked if I was being charged, I was ignored. Finally, when I asked to end my relationship with the firm and requested a refund of my retainer, the amount billed for the aforementioned email response was deducted. While it was only ~$40, my question was not even answered. I was offered a 15 minute consultation at a later time, but since I'm no longer a client, asked if that was something I would even be able to use. A week later and I have not received a response. I would be cautious of this firm if your situation is not cut and dry and to whom you are assigned. In my experience, Soo Keithley is fantastic, but others may leave you wanting for more.

I have had an ongoing open case with DCSE for arrearages in the tens of thousands. Rather than see the trial through she opted to settle for less than half of what is owed. She did not file what was asked in the amount of dollars owed and left it as 50% of all child related expenses. The father is now behind 8 months once again which always leads back to court. This is what they want, so you will continue to retain them and spend your life savings. Then a court hearing was scheduled in November of last year for August of this year giving this girm ample time to prepare. Once again I could not reach them for over a month asking how do we prepare. Discovery was due and instead of admitting to failure they decided to drop my case one month before the trial date. I was forced to retain a real attorney however the damage was done. Since no evidence was submitted to the courts, trial was postponed and removed from the docket. They didn't even have a file for my case. They sent over next to nothing when requested by my new firm. Now we have to re-submit filings and most likely wait another 8 months for a trial date available. Save your time and hard earned money for a firm who takes your childs best interest seriously!!

I ended up wasting six months and about $4K, paid in fees, with no outcome with Geller Law. I was first requested to have a mandatory paid initial consultation session to go over my legal help needed. I was introduced to Julie S. during this session. After describing my specific case & needs, she informed me that Geller Law can handle my case. What followed was months of emotional stress & redundant conversations with the staff of this firm that yielded no results. It became clear to me that they didn't know how to legally handle my case. Some staff members were argumentative & appeared trying to take advantage of this emotional situation for me. There were redundant conversations that I was later billed for.
