I made a left turn a street too early. I ended up at Vishnu Mandir. I like mistakes. This one was a good mistake to have made. Vishnu Mandir is a Hindu temple. I saw a statue of Gandhi that faced Yonge Street. This temple was so peaceful and calm on a snowy day. I did some exploring. What struck me the most was a beautiful gold statue. I soon learned that this statue is 50 feet tall of Lord Hanuman, who was greatly revered and worshipped in Hinduism. He was known for his strength. This statue of Lord Hanuman is the tallest one of him in the world. How 'bout that! Vishnu Mandir was established in 1979 as a spiritual temple, but also has these facets: - Canadian Museum for Indian Civilization - Anand Bhavan Seniors' Home - Academy of Learning and Montessori School - Global Care Outreach Program in Guyana - Sangeet Academy (Indian music and dance) - Lakshmi Sabha Women's Club I was in mourning mode, so I didn't feel like checking out anything in detail. However, I'd like to visit the museum and admire the various statues on this property. I noticed a couple of York region police vehicles parked in the corner of this temple when I was there.
