Booked this based on the great price that I got. It's really close to the container village and all of the local places to eat and shop. I upgraded to a harbor view room for only CAD$7. From the window you can watch people walking around the board walks, the buskers performing, and the ships moving in and out of the harbor. Although the pricing was great - there were a few things that were bothering me. I booked online saying that breakfast was included. I always get places that offer some sort of breakfast. When I got to the desk they said that it was NOT included and it would be $20 Per person. I also asked for a bottle of water , after seeing another guest get handed 2 bottles. So even though I had signed up for Hilton Honors I was ineligible for both of these perks. Another thing that bothered me was that there were only 2 bath sized towels. I had booked for 2 adults and a 15 year old. I've never stayed at a place that only left us 2 towels. There is a fee for parking. $25 with in and out privileges. $18 for just leaving your car there until the end of your stay. Be sure to get the ticket validated if you want but the in and out access. We're from the US. We tried multiple times to pay at self pay kiosk #3. We swiped , tapped, everything. We decided to just pay at the exit. Same thing. We inserted our ticket, our debit cards. Nothing. The arm was already up so we just left. Toiletries are in full sized bottles. The sink was really over powered. Opening it the slightest bit was like turning on a garden hose on full blast. The water would splash everywhere and I had to place one of the hand towels on the counter to keep the water from pooling and spilling into the floor. With that being said you would think that the shower would have nice pressure. It did not. It looked like some of the water came out of the bottom faucet even though we activated the shower head. This is a good Hilton. We stayed in room 620. It was a great corner/wedge room that was a little bigger, like all the x02 rooms. It was a little musty, but not terrible. I'm sensitive to smells. My wife said she wished we had Fabreeze but that was about it. We got used to it and it wasn't an issue. That may be just what you get right next to the water. I would not hesitate to book here or the same room again. The room was super clean and nice. We enjoyed the fridge, coffee maker, nice desk and other amenities. We don't make it to the restaurant on the main floor. The staff at the hotel was very nice and efficient. read more

Room would not cool down. System was blowing warm air even though it was set to 63 degrees. The front desk simply said "wait until the sun goes down and it will cool off". Asked for a small fan to circulate some air and none was available. Worst Hilton service in my 50 years of hotel stays. read more

I might have been the only person on the floor of my room who was not part of the loud, drunken party who seemed to occupy all of the other rooms. There are a few restaurants and bars on the harbour waterfront where Hilton Saint John guests may visit, eat and get drunk en masse, and then all go back to their rooms on my floor continuing to be super loud well past 10pm despite the plaque on the wall indicating that everyone must be considerate of everyone else by being quiet past ten o'clock. To make matters worse, I was tired and felt a cold coming on. Yet, I was on a road-trip visiting the Maritimes for the first time so I was trying to get enough rest to make the most of my visit to the Maritimes even if I didn't one hundred percent feel well. I called the front desk to complain. They said they would address the situation but to call again if it seemed to be taking too long for the after hours party to quiet down. It did, so I did. Soon I overheard a drunk guest getting belligerent with an apparent security guard in the hall. The other guests on my floor finally quieted down and I was finally able to get some sleep. The food at the hotel restaurant is what it is, I guess. So is the parking. Typical for a city hotel. Some are quieter and more accessible than this one. As a solo road-tripper, if I'm ever going through Saint John again, I would be interested in other places to stay where I wouldn't be kept awake by a loud group who wanted to hang out and talk loudly through the wee hours, as was my experience at the Hilton in September 2023. read more

Absolutely perfect hotel! We loved everything about our stay here. Our room was very spacious and overlooked the harbor--with two huge windows that gave us views of the harbor and the cityscape. I was able to open a small window--and we could listen to the calming sounds of the water at night and the sound of gulls in the morning. The boardwalk just outside the hotel wraps around for a nice walk--and a good view of the hillside St. John sign. Breakfast was great. (The breakfast buffet was included with our meal since we have a Platinum Am Ex card.) The buffet had everything from yogurt with wild blueberries to charcuterie, oatmeal, and very good sausages and fresh scrambled eggs. You can also order breakfast from the menu. The staff was courteous, and the hotel is well-kept and is located right in the heart of downtown. Who could ask for anything more? What a great introduction to St. John!! Not incredibly pet-friendly, one night it was fine having my (small dog) at the bar, the next morning grabbing coffee for a quick second I was treated like an intruder. Speaking of which, I've never been charged $5 for what otherwise would be complimentary (standard milquetoast) coffee in the lobby, that is a new one. The exchanges were rusty and AC was cool at best The beds were comfy The towels are horrid and scratchy such that they remain wet between uses. Amenities are sparse. I am here as part of a group, the hotel should be closed for a complete renovation!! My room is not nice for anyone to stay in: Mold in the shower Tub has cracks and chipped Paint is chipping everywhere Cannot turn the nightstand lights on unless the wall switch is on, which means the wall sconce is on at all times No bottles of water No small body lotion bottles Wood windowsill is stained with water marks or God knows what Wall is missing pieces where something was thrown at it or it was kicked Disgusting sheers and curtains Hilton should be embarrassed to have their name on the front of this lousy hotel. In the event that you ever make your way up to the quaint town of St John NB. I can't think of a better option to stay in than the Hilton Saint John. It sits in a privileged location overlooking the Bay of Fundy. Just a few blocks from downtown where you can find pretty good restaurants, parks, churches, and great sightseeing. It is also conveniently located across de street from a small shopping center: Brunswick Square, which houses some cool shops, a small food court, a museum, and even a library. You can even access it via underground tunnel so you don't have to walk through the snow and the cold temperatures. There is a nice path that takes you up towards the reversing falls which served as a perfect running route with some pretty cool views. My experience at the front desk both at check in and also when asking about a good running route, were outstanding. Always willing to help with detailed explanations and a good attitude. I had a great view of the bay, I am sure it helps that the temperature was minus 6 degrees and the hotel was pretty much empty at this time of the year, however, my experience was really good overall. I am looking forward to returning to Saint John when it is not buried under 4 feet of snow and sub-zero temps and the Hilton will no doubt be the place to stay. read more

We stayed at the Hilton while traveling through New Brunswick, during the Saint John Busker Festival. Overall we had a pretty good stay; the hotel is conveniently located at Market Square, connected to a lot of downtown via the skyway. Upon arrival, I would advise you to park in the underground, city garage right across the street, and unload from there. The garage is linked directly to the hotel by ramp and is accessible via the hotel elevator. I wish I had known that ahead of time :). Our room looked out on the boardwalk/harbor and was very comfortable. The front desk staff was very helpful. We only dined at the hotel once - for breakfast. The other morning we went to the City Market for really good bagels/donuts/coffee and enjoyed it at Kong's Square. The hotel breakfast was nothing to write home about - the buffet was not as fresh as we would have liked, and we ended up spending $50 Canadian. The market was cheaper, better, and more enjoyable, and opens at 7:30 every day but Sunday. At the end of the day the location was very convenient and we had a good experience overall. read more

I spent the last week (Sunday until today) at the Hilton Saint John. I've stayed at a few Hiltons and I thought this one was below their usual standard. It is centrally located downtown and within walking distance to a lot of pubs and restaurants (which I checked out). There is construction going on that starts fairly early in the morning. There is a boardwalk around the hotel. There is a business centre in the lobby. Though the pressure was good, the water in the shower was barely warm, never hot ...the tub was very uncomfortable to soak in :( There were holes in some of the towels. The room had a microwave oven, a mini fridge and a safety deposit box. WIFI was complementary, not overly speedy.. The hotel has a pool and fitness centre on the lower level. It's connected via the lower level to Market Square, restaurants, shopping and the Saint John City Market so you can check them out without having to go outside. The desk chair had some nasty white crusty stains on the seat (I put a towel on it) so I asked that it be cleaned. And then one of the arms fell off during the week! They replaced it with a cleaner chair with two arms. The armchair was stained too. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the clock as it was 12 hours fast (or 12 hours slow). Once I realized that, I would set my alarm for 7pm to make sure it went off at 7am. Though the bed was comfy, the skirting around the beds looked tired and old. Parking is across the street under Market Square and is $18 a day. It's $20 at day if you want it billed to your room and in and out privileges (I didn't). It took me a couple days to realize that you can get to the parking through the lower level of the hotel ... it would have been nice if the guy at the front desk had told me that when I checked in when I asked about parking as it rained one day and I'd walked above ground to get to my car. I wouldn't stay there again. There is a Delta a couple blocks away so I'll check them out the next time I come to Saint John. read more

Ok, so this wasn't good. We just ordered the basics 1lb of wings & kettle chips. The wings were putrid to me. They were undercooked despite the fact that I asked for them "crisp"! They were also very small, VERY overpriced & delivered late!! All for just $15.00 for a Lb. If you're staying at the Hilton & are looking for some late nite food...go somewhere else & eat there. Went to book a room and was told that the only room with a harbor view had no air conditioning. We picked that room. It had an amazing view and we were able to see tug boat turning around a container ship. Once it was time for sleep I pulled the sheets back to discover that it was soaked on one side. Soaked so bad there was a water stain. Called the front desk and the manager came up to change the sheets. As he was coming up we noticed that the water went right into the mattress. We were uncomfortable sleeping in the room and asked for another. We moved to the room right beside us. (Unsure why we were not put into that room to begin with) it met our needs and we were happy. The manager returned with new tool keys and a bottle of wine for the trouble. We did not get a discount on the room. For the experience that we received we will not be returning to this hotel. read more

We stayed here on points and were upgraded to a suite by friendly front desk staff. The location is perfect, and despite the negatives, I would stay here again just because the location is SO perfect. Everything you could want to do in Saint John is a few minutes walk and the waterfront location is beautiful. Shortly after checking in I received a text message asking if everything was OK and offering to assist if I needed anything. By that time we had dropped our bags and left the hotel to get dinner. No for the room. Although it was nice enough at first glance, when we returned later that evening and took a look around, it was less than satisfactory. There were tears in the lampshades, frayed cushions on the furniture, and a general shabbiness. The bed was clean and comfortable, thankfully. The bathroom needs a solid bleach job, there was ages-old mildew throughout the shower and the floor looked like it needed a good scrubbing. Wife and I both skipped taking a shower in the morning because it was so grubby. To be fair I did not reply to the text message when we noticed the room condition, it was late and we just wanted to sleep. I will give them another chance, but closely inspect the room on arrival and make sure to point out any issues. read more

Amazing view of the port from my room. The rooms are modern, clean, quiet. I had a good night. Wifi: on point. The personnel at the front desk is polite. The hotel is located just in front of the mall. In the mall you will find a corner store, a library, a museum, a Tim Horton and more. Tip: There is an underground tunnel connecting the hotel to the mall. According to my friend, the 13$ breakfast buffet is pretty good. read more

With that said, the WiFi here is super slow, the beds are very mushy and uncomfortable, the pillows are full of what seems like air so when you wake up they are as thick as a piece of paper, and some of the place just smells old. Besides that, the staff are nice, the fridge and microwave in the rooms are great, and the views are good only if you face the waterfront. For a Hilton, this place really isn't up to par. It feels more like a cheap Holiday Inn or Super 8... Update 1: I actually came back and will be here for a few months. The new room I have is much better. Nicest hotel in Saint John, located adjacent to the water and offers great views. The Hilton is also within walking distance to several pubs, a mall and the Saint John City Market. The rooms at the Hilton were very nice and fairly large, the bathrooms were also larger than the norm. The restaurant service was very good but the breakfast was overpriced for what it offered. The scrambled eggs were the worst I have ever had dry, hard and tasteless. Overall the breakfast was a huge disappointment one of the worst hotel buffets that I have had. read more

We arrived during a power outage through out the entire city, also a tour bus had just pulled in. So it was quite chaotic, however the Mgr. Chris Purdy and his staff went out of his way to insure that we were checked in and luggage delivered to the room. While we waited in the lobby area which was maybe 10 min at the most the power came back on. Our room was fabulous, over looking the harbor. I cannot say enough about how professionally the staff handled a situation that could have turned disasterly ugly very quickly with a lobby full of elderly people... My family and I were staying the night having a swim in the pool when an Elmer Fud looking staff member came in 10 minutes before the pool closing time and basically kicked us out of the pool. He stood there while we got our kids out of the pool lurking at us. I hope you don't run into this guy when you stay here. Unfortunately he looks like a manager. read more

This is the place to stay if you're in Saint John! We will be back. My wife and I needed a "mini-pre-honeymoon" after a crazy busy month. So, we drove north from SoNH headed to Bar Harbor and hopefully the ferry to Halifax. Good thing we needed a plan B as we ended up continuing on the Saint John. Made a reservation and when we showed up we hit the lottery meeting Priscilla. She's "da bomb". We lucked out with a great view of the harbor, she pointed us in the right direction for great food and good times on our only night in town. She picked up on us being newly married and was very kind to us. After dinner and a stop at a local pub we hit the bar for a night cap and had a blast with the bar staff before turning in. What we didn't expect was to come back to our room and find a bottle bubbly and some cheese and crackers with a sweet note congratulating us on our marriage from - you guessed it -Priscilla. Thank you! When we woke up on Saturday we had no idea we'd be in Saint John. Waking up on Sunday we knew we'd be back and definitely plan on staying here again. read more

I had the pleasure of staying at the Hilton in Canada's Detroit(aka Saint John). The mattresses were very stiff and the room was somewhat dusty. The air conditioner was somewhat noisy and the bathrooms were a bit too small. However the size of the room was decent. The service isn't the best, you have to carry you're own luggage. That's ridiculous for how much it costs to stay at this hotel. Overall it's a mediocre hotel for a mediocre small Canadian city, eh? read more

Really disappointing for an alleged higher-end hotel, but we had all sorts of problems here. The room was very oddly laid-out, with sharp corners and a dead space between the couch (which we used as a bed for one of the kids) and the beds in the room. The air also didn't circulate that well. We had quite a bit of noise from the triangular hallway layout, which seems counterintuitive, but there was some kind of acoustic effect that seemed to amplify hallway noise in some areas. We had a simply awful experience at the restaurant downstairs, which we went to as a last resort after having arrived late, but even without that, the whole experience was kind of meh. The arrangement with the hotel parking across the street was very awkward as well, and we got zero help with our luggage (I'm always shocked at how un-disabled-friendly Canada is compared to the US, and when you have a luggage cart, you really feel that) because there was a large bus party that was coming in at the same time. We couldn't even scare up a luggage cart and had to do a lot of ferrying of odd things over several stairs, up stairs in the lobby, before getting to the elevator. All in all kind of a logistical problem that was not pleasant. read more

Nice location near the water and Market Square shops. They gave me wi-fi for free which they usually charge for, that was nice. I parked in a lot about a block away which was free on weekends. There is street parkin gout front, but you have to get up by 8:30am. The hotel was clean and even brought up a toothbrush for my friend when we called the front desk. i would recommend this location and it was only $96 a night for 2 queen beds! read more

The Hotel has a real problem with the front desk. My guess is drugs. We were treated abruptly, rudely, and arrogantly. Completely uncalled for behavior from more than one person. After returning home, I called the hotel and talked to the front desk manager, Chris Purdy, and he was totally cavalier and seemed high on either crystal meth or cocaine. Our room had not been vacuumed, and nothing was done. On check out I mentioned this, and a bearded guy merely rolled his eyes and said, "Oh, so you're the one." Great views, ideal location. It maybe centrally located but not a very good hotel. We expected better from a Hilton, this place was pretty disgusting. The first room we had was falling apart, smelled funny. The bed skirt, desk chair and easy chair all had strange gross stains. We took our luggage and had the front desk give us a better room. They tried to accommodate us which was kind but the hotel needs a lot of help. We tried the hotels restaurant and we were very disappointed, the waiter joking said " we could sign our dinner to some one else's room". We had to eat else wear because the Hilton food was pretty inedible. read more

If you're traveling to points north or east of New Brunswick (or Nova Scotia) this isn't adequate highway on and off stop. It's minutes from the highway and within walking distance of most of the down town area. At best you could say that this is a functional hotel with easy access. The underground parking can be a challenge especially if you are driving an oversized vehicle, but this hotel is near enough to local restaurants and the waters edge to make it a pleasant (but not memorable) overnight visit. read more

I stayed at the Hilton Saint John for a full month in January 2014. My room as standard but nothing to brag about. It had a view of the harbor but unless you liked looking a dock beside a huge empty lot, it wasn't anything spectacular. I don't think I looked out the window once after the first day in the room. Service at the hotel wasn't anything to brag about either. Front desk staff were pleasant and quick but this is to be expected. No one went out of their way to give me great service though. When I complained about my room safe it took 3 hours for the manager to show up. The restaurant staff was great...depending on when you went. The breakfast staff was super friendly and remembered my coffee preference after the first day. The evening waiter though was the rudest server I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. When I had joined a group of co-workers for dinner one night (we were the only group in the restaurant that night) everyone got their meal a good 30 minutes before mine came. When the waiter was bringing desert to the others before I had my meal I asked why it's taking so long. Instead of apologizing and going to check on the kitchen I was told "You just have to wait and deal with it". Everyone at the table was shocked he said that, and how rudely he said it. He would constantly interrupt our conversations with his own personal stories of things that had nothing to do with what we were talking about. Another co-worker ordered a drink and it too him 20 minutes to get the drink while he sat at the bar chatting to a kitchen staff. When she complained, he was equally as rude saying he was very busy (Again, we were the only group in the there that night) My food finally arrived luke warm. After I (and everyone at the table) left him a 0 dollar tip, he had the gall to complain to the hotel manager about how rude WE were... Honestly if you go to Saint John, stay at the Delta. You will get better service, a better (newer) hotel, and it's better located. The harbor view just isn't worth it. read more
