Diamond Sound rehearsal studios is a one of a kind facility in Nashville. They have approximately…read more35 private rehearsal rooms, that can be rented on a monthly basis. The rooms vary in size and rental rate, but every room is designed nicely and very well maintained. And then they also have a large showcase room where you can have dress rehearsals, and the going rate now is $50/ 4 hours. This rehearsal complex is for serious musicians. It's a place for people who want a very nice place to rehearse, and have a community of musicians that all are doing the same thing all around you. It's nice to hang in the halls and meet up with all the bands/musicians you see on the marquee's around town. It's definitely not Soundcheck, and it's not SIR, but if you wanted to pay out the nose for rehearsal space by the hour, you can always go to one of those places. Diamond Sound fits everyone's budget, and it is very private and secure. All rehearsal rooms have 24 hour access, and daytime hours are very quiet. So if you are a singer songwriter, or need a place for writing this is great in the daytime. In the evenings there are definitely loud rock bands playing, so if you are a full volume band, you won't be bothered by the noise, but if you are not a full band, you will be able to hear some bleed noise from other rooms. It is pretty minimal though. Just trying to give you the full scoop. Overall it's a great place to rehearse and my band has been renting from them for over a year, and we've have been totally happy. Go take a tour and see for yourself.

The room is really large, it is about a 28 ft x 50 ft space, with a 20 ft x 20 ft stage area. The room is painted all different colors, which you would think would be distracting but it actually works for the room, and acts as fuel for your brain by making it more active. The stage is framed by big drapes around the back in golds and greens. These are all good feng shui colors and textures for a creative space. That is probably why I like the space so much, everything about seems to work really well to create a great feeling within the space. The other great thing about this room that sets it apart from a lot of other rehearsal spaces in town, is that it isn't built like a bomb shelter, this room has real windows to the outside world! You can see daylight, or whatever weather might be happening outside. They have a full stage PA, it is 3000 watts of power with a full sound board for running up to 24 channels. It is a great place to really hone in your on stage sound. The rates for the room vary depending on what kind of event or rehearsal you want to have. In general though, the rate is around $20-$25 an hour, sometimes more sometimes less. Call and ask for Mo Sweeney.

The building was originally built by Al Capone, yes the Al Capone, sometime in the 1920's. It was briefly used as a gambling casino, and later a private residence. Now it is a recording facility that hosts all kinds of famous musicians, and local musicians that can get in some time between major label sessions. The Castle has a Studio A and Studio B, and depending on your project budget you can rent each one by the hour, by the day, or by the project. Studio A includes the main tracking room and more fancy engineering room. The main tracking room is just gorgeous, with white sound proofing panels, blonde wooden floors, and natural sunlight streaming in the south facing windows. I had the good fortune to be in here for a day doing some tracking, and it was really a great experience. They have a full kitchen so you don't even have to leave for coffee or food. It's like recording in an awesome house. Everything sounds amazing. Later when the sun was setting we were out back and about 15 deer ran through the backyard. It was just too cool. Wildlife and rock music, like a fairy tale. If you can get the budget, get yourself over to the Castle for some tracking.

I booked it for an entire week to do a recording camp for aspiring vocalists last summer. The grounds are breathtaking. All of the rumors I had heard about it being built by Al Capone turned out to be true. The place has been used by countless famous musicians over the years. What impressed me was how the people at Castle went out of their way to make these young performers feel like they were stars as well. We used Studio B which is for smaller projects. The equipment was all top- notch and the sound engineer, Rich Ramsey really took his time making all these singers sound their best. I would recommend this studio to anyone who wants to get a good recording at a decent price in a beautiful atmosphere. You may want to bring a treat for Baxter and Ella, the very friendly studio dogs.
