With Valentines Day fast approaching the staff in Hannah's Courtyard will be flat out wrapping…read morebouquets and pruning roses - they definitely won't run out of flowers though because this place is jam packed! They have a huge display of flowers outside the shop so you don't even have to venture in to find the perfect bouquet. The shop itself is a bit of a rabbit warren, it seems that most of stock is outside the on the street rather than in - but this isn't a bad thing. They don't just do flowers in Hannah's - they also have a hardware section out the back although you wouldn't know it even existed unless you ventured in. When you go out the back you sort of feel like your entering someone's garden shed. There's bits and bobs everywhere. I actually came in here looking for a shower curtain pole after mine collapsed - no valentines shopping for me (forever alone), only DIY! My only criticism is that it's a bit of a mess out the back and hard to find what you are looking for. Hannah's Courtyard is a must if you're looking to get out of trouble with the missus - I was shocked at the amount of different flowers they had on offer so if you want something specific get down here. Beware you may develop hay fever on entrance!

My garden was beautiful though, with hanging baskets and planters overflowing with lovely flowers and trailing things. And I had the most fab garden candles and lights. Come to think of it, where have all those candles and lights gone?? The Potting Shed sells everything you could need to creates your own hanging baskets and planters, but that's really not for me. What if I had to touch the compost, or saw a worm? Thankfully, they also sell the most beautiful ready made planters and baskets which are crammed with lovely things like trailing honeysuckle. Even better, when the next spring rolls around, you can bring in your empty basket or planter and they will fill them without you having to pay for the container. Perfect. They also sell compost, lawn feeder stuff and gloves for any crazy fool who does want to create their own little bit of nature. Here's the bizarre bit, they have recently started selling furniture. It's really lovely white painted furniture at very reasonable prices, but I still find it weird. But as long as they keep filling my baskets, I'm happy.

The plants arrived healthy, well-packaged, and exactly as described. It's clear their nursery stock is top quality and well cared for. On top of that, I've seen some of the landscaping projects they've completed, and the standard of work looks excellent, professional, tidy, and built to last. You can tell they take real pride in both the plants they grow and the gardens they create. The staff are very knowledgeable and are likely to know what you need and want before you even say it! We came here looking for saplings of trees to add to our garden, and they were able to tell us what trees would suit our garden best. Our reams of a chestnut tree were shattered as our ground wasn't likely to be fertile enough to support it, so we were guided to some lovely ash trees that were more suited to our garden! They have a wide range of hanging baskets, flowers and composting and fertilising materials, and will have everything you need to satisfy your gardening needs at reasonable prices!

It wasn't…read more Woodlawn is 5 mins from my house and it's the go to place for decent bedding plants and shrubs. I'm not much of a gardener as I have a regular rather expensive manicure so I usually direct operations and himself or the big son does the donkey work. I've bought plants before from Homebase but they're usually forced on and unless the weather is fairly mild they either die on me or don't thrive. I don't mind paying a bit extra for quality plus the guys in Woodlawn are really knowledgeable about horticultural stuff and are happy to give you all sorts of hints and tips about what or not to buy. The shop bit is pretty excellent and not at all necessarily garden related. They have stylish Pilgrim jewellery, scarves, Crabtree & Evelyn products, lovely gift ideas and a great range of Regatta outdoor clothing and wellies plus some locally sourced food products. They have a great range of garden furniture and barbecues if our weather ever allowed you to sit out and in a few weeks they'll have hanging baskets and ready planted tubs. They have a great restaurant too with comfy sofas and a nice view of all the plants and things. So I guess I have to give it a 5* rating as they really have thought of everything. It's a local family run fruit and vegetable shop, but it's a bit old and tired. I know the important thing about a fruit'n'veg shop is the freshness and quality of the produce, and I will get to that, but I think if they gave this place a face-lift it would invite people in a lot more and encourage them to spend more. It hasn't changed in all the time I've known it. As for the produce, it's fine. It's quite well-priced too, reasonable and affordable. They don't do a massive wide-range of veg, you won't see anything unusual here, which is a shame because I think they would get more custom if they branched out towards being a little more 'gourmet' in their approach. For a local Fruit'n'Veg shop, it's fine.

There are not many garden centres you could have a full day out in, but you could with Dobbies…read more It's an amazing centre with everything you could possibly want including garden furniture, ornaments, summer houses, garden sheds, plants, bird tables and gardening equipment. Dobbies also have a fabulous restaurant and luxury food hall filled with delicious meals, desserts, wine and gourmet food. It can often be very busy and some items are not the cheapest, however for quality and selection it gets top marks.
