The Cove Shopping Center is a local Deerfield Beach landmark. Constructed in 1959 on Hillsboro…read moreBlvd, east of Federal Highway, it is withing walking distance of the beach. The Cove has some exciting new developments. Three new food and drink projects recently opened. These include the 46 year old Cove Restaurant and Tiki Bar which got a 6.5 million dollar makeover. Since 1977, the intracoastal waterfront Cove Restaurant has been a favorite of the Deerfield Beach community. The renovation project was spearheaded by developer Lou Moshakos who runs Oceanic and Lucky Fish Pompano. Mosakos has many fond memories of knocking back drinks with his wife after working at the Seafood Shanty. When the restaurant came up for sale he decided to purchase and restore it. Changes to the restaurant include a new chef and Key West style makeover of the tiki bar. On the opposite end of the plaza is the new 2.15 million dollar Cove Brewery with a 8,500 square foot brewhouse and taproom. The brewery anchors a 24,000 square foot warehouse that houses four new businesses including the recently opened Won-Tom's restaurant. I am exited to check out the changes to the plaza but I also enjoy dining at The Sticky Bun for breakfast , Modern Rose for light bites and coffee, and Patricia's of New York for dinner. Other businesses include jewelry stores, laundry, bridal stores, legal, banking, medical, and beauty services, clothing stores, pubs, and many other restaurants. If there is one drawback to The Cove it is that parking can be hard to come by. Complicating matters is the fact that people park here and walk over to the beach. If there is a festival going on you can forget about finding a space. Lou Moshakos has purchased roughly 2 acres of land next to The Cove and is considering building a parking garage to alleviate the parking headache. So many locals and tourists have fond memories of going to The Cove through the years . The new businesses and next phase of development will bring even more good times.

Located near the intracoastal waterway, this strip center has it all: restaurants, gift shops, several offices, bridal stores, boutiques and even a catering venue called Royal Fiesta. Sometimes the plaza has events like farmers markets, car shows etc. This is a fun shopping center because not only is it walking distance to the beach but it has a full marina and a path leading to Sullivan Park. It's so much fun people watching because you get to see people walking their dogs, riding their bikes, or just walking around enjoying the many stores and restaurants. The largest and most well known restaurant is Two George's; great for relaxing with an adult beverage on the water. There's also a family owned Italian restaurant called Antonio's, Sticky Bun for breakfast & lunch, Modern Rose Teahouse, Kava Lounge, French & Mexican restaurants, and American Rock Bar & Grill. There is something for everyone, so I can assure you that you won't go hungry. Many of the restaurants are dog friendly which I think is awesome especially since I plan on adopting another fur baby soon. Saving the best for last; my favorite restaurant in the plaza is Casa Maya. They serve the most delicious Mexican food and there is a small bar if you want to pop in for a margarita. It gets pretty loud but the food is worth it. The plaza is home to two bridal stores (Bellissima & Casa De Bridesmaids), a high end dress shop (Sondro), law offices, a tattoo shop, several stores as well as nail & massage places. The Cove shopping center is easy to find. Head east on Hillsboro & it's right before the bridge on the south side of the road. Lots of parking too. :-)

But later in…read morebed I'm curious to read the reviews on the items I bought and look at other items they have in the store. I see the peices I just bought much cheaper by more than a few dollars. So I decide to head back to the store in the morning. I'm met with another sales person not a friendly kind face like the night before. As soon as I mention I just bought last night and noticed cheaper online can I get the price difference she gets very snippy about the price difference but gave it to me after yelling what do you want from me like 3 times saying I'm stealing her money. As a consumer I want the best price not like I bought months ago it was last night. Anyway after throwing a $10 bill at me then a $20 bill at me. It was actually $30 cheaper but I just kept the $20 very unhinged person I'm dealing with. I should ran out from this crazy person but stupid me I decide I want to buy a necklace she said I think you should order that online I'm like really you want me to order it online when I'm standing right here in front of you. WOW!!!! I thought she could have handled the situation better instead of getting angry and being totally rude. Thinking back now I should have returned everything I bought. i don't think she desired a penny of my money. I work in customer service it was beyond an uncomfortable situation. Later I find out the snippy person I dealt with is the owner of the store. I'm beyond shocked

This is one of those places where you can find a lot of nice items that you might not find at a big box retailer...great items, great setup, where you wander around the entire store like if you are exploring room after room of fun things to buy.

Some of my favorite items were the Scout bags, coastal Christmas ornaments, Audubon bird notecards, and sea turtle bracelets, You could pretty much buy me anything in here and I would be happy. My favorite part of the store was the owners dogs! They are the cutest store security I have ever seen. When you enter the store hit the ring button so they can buzz you in so the dogs don't accidentally slip out. The owner was super nice and let me know he was available to help but left me to shop at will. I have been to a lot of gift stores but this is my favorite. They have so many items I have never seen before. I could get something for anyone here including a lot for myself. I have my eye on some things I will be coming back for. Hugs for Johnny and Donatello, the fluffiest and sweetest dogs I have had the pleasure of meeting.

It's generally staffed by volunteers, all of whom are dedicated, polite, caring and fully understanding of the situation you may find yourself in when visiting patients who may be ill or otherwise confined to the hospital. It's loaded with all sorts of things from cards, snuggly little artificial stuffed animals that generally not only prove to be a delight to hospitalized children but to adults as well. They have a wide assortment of cards, religious artifacts, cheery helium filed balloons, pens, paper and writing materials. They have just about anything you can think of as well as good suggestions for things you may have never thought of intended to brighten the day and cheer up hospitalized patients. It's one of the best of such gift shops I've found in any hospital and I use it often to purchase cheerful items not only for friends that I may be visiting but also, with myself being a hospital volunteer, to cheer up any of those for whom I've been volunteering any services I might be able to offer. Another important factor and one most often overlooked, is that the staff here knows what items might be best suited for a hospitalized person as well as what items are allowed or not allowed. For example, they don't carry real flowers.....too many problems with pollen and associated allergies....and generally have a good idea of which or what items are child safe or suitable for those that suffer any variety of handicap. The staff of the Gift Shop are all happy to help with any question or gift decision you may have and along those lines, if you are bring a gift from home, but might have a question of whether or not it is suitable or permitted within the hospital, all you need do is phone them first. Then, of course, any profits are given as charitable donations to the hospital or for those in need.

I'm at it again to my new place! And I do it in a budget! I sold a lot of my things in storage which paid for most of my new stuff! One of the things I really like about Home Goods are the unique infused cooking oils, sauces, herbs and spices that they carry which you most likely will not find in a super market. Then again, also at a price better than you'd find in any super market. When I was here I was delighted to find a bottle of rosemary infused olive oil which was perfect on the lamb roast I was doing. Most of the home decorator items and other home furnishings are low end, next to zero quality and so cheap that the only bargain is in their cheapness; which is really no bargain at all. However, there are other items that give me reason to really adore this place such as low priced top of the line olive oils, various infused oils, particularly truffle oils, pasta toppings, coffees, jellies, jams, marmalades, wild caught canned fish, pestos and every now and then some really terrific, brand name exotic food finds at prices less than half of what they are in the gourmet or specialty food shops. I've also found some really great deals on various indestructible (seeming indestructible for everyone else but not by me) Teflon cooking items.
