The store has recently been refurbished and is bright and well laid out. It's not quite as big but stocks everything you would expect at a chemists. Staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable; I actually felt better just for talking to a friendly person - a little bit of sympathy is all you need when you have a rotten cold. No queues, either - a definite winner.

Stuff you might need at the last minute or while you're on the go, so don't expect a Boots with like a fragrance, or home goods, or electrical departments. Stopped here on my way through Paddington twice recently: once to casually look around and pick-up a loofa, a travel-size mouthwash, some paracetamol; the second time much more frantically when I was openly bleeding and needed emergency plasters (seriously and specifically, I now swear by the hydrocolloid plasters!). That was based on a discover that UK showers now have dispenser bottles, but not a small wash cloth anywhere. Bar soap was the answer and with zip lock bag already in hand, I was set. As Gayle and I were staying at the very nearby Hilton Paddington, convenience was more important than store size or serious shopping. I would have appreciated a larger selection, but I did get what I needed.

Most of the other places, the waxing technicians are constantly on leave or unavailable. These guys are really busy in the evenings, so it's best to take an appointment, but if you are free before 4pm, you can try your luck at a walk-in. They have a loyalty card system, so every 6th treatment of the same type is free. So while they are marginally more expensive than a muskaan or the other set ups at Whiteleys, they do work out cheaper for regulars. They also have a lot of offers on each month. Right now it's a free 30 minute manicure or massage with every facial.

They give you the personal attention one would expect from a local village shop. If you live in the neighbourhood you should fill your prescriptions here instead of Boots. They will work on filling your prescription once you give them the slip with hardly any wait time. They carry a streamlined selection of chemist essentials. The store is bright, clean and everything is clearly priced. They follow their suppliers suggested retails which are generally less expensive compared to Boots - I was shocked when I did price comparisons on select products as I assumed Boots would be less since they buy more inventory from vendors being a huge chain. On one visit I stopped by to purchase clove oil and when I brought the bottle to the counter to pay, the pharmacist pointed out another brand of clove oil that was exactly the same but less expensive. They care about their customers and for that reason I choose Nashi over Boots for all my pharmacy / chemist shop needs. Also note that they have a great partnership with Newton Medical Centre nearby and will happily fill out a script refill and drop it off to the clinic for you.

If you need to pick up anything locally from a sandwich to a prescription and everything in between, my local Boots has a great profile of stock that suits everything I need. The staff here are pretty good and they are all friendly and helpful. I know it is not the largest Boots around - obviously a huge Boots store like Oxford Street puts this place completely to shame. However, if I need any of the essentials from the chemist, this branch of Boots delivers it in a good value for money, reasonably stocked way. The problem is that I have been going here for too long, and do not notice how handy this place is. I would be really upset if I didn't have this available. Viva Boots!
