But for the last 11 years Steve and his motley crew have been changing that in this this brightly lit well stocked gaming shop. The selection here here is well varied and fairly priced. There is a nice selection of vintage pinball machine. One nice thing about this shop is if you are looking for a gift for someone but don't know the gaming field yourself - Steve has some very approachable and knowledgeable staff that are willing and able to help get what you need and want. Especially the main store manager who is sort of like Mel Brooks Character from Spaceballs - Yogurt, the wise and powerful keeper of the "up-side" of the Schwartz. He will guide you to the up-side and right side of whatever game you want to explore.

After, he stayed late to allow those that wanted to buy tricks to purchase them and taught each scout one-on-one how use the trick. The store itself has a similar set up to other stores, so it doesn't take long to orient yourself and find what you are looking for. I have noticed an increase in the amount of non-crafting items that are placed right in the middle of aisles, which end up serving as distractions to children! Anyway, I was looking for specific yarn on two different occasions and found most of what I was looking for, except a couple of items. On the first trip, I just couldn't find anyone to help. On the second trip, I found someone, but they didn't seem to know much about yarn or the stock. So that was a bit frustrating. While I love giant stores like these because I can usually find everything I need, I would like staff members that are specific to certain areas... not just the fabric table or the framing area. I get it is probably more of a resource issue than anything, but I think stores like this could be enhanced by having staff that have specific knowledge of certain crafts. Another thing I like about Michael's, if you have your handy dandy smart phone, you can pull up some coupons to use at check out.

They showed cunning a guile as none of the obvious sacks met with our approval and recommended a "Blind Sack" that contained, among other items, a random dice sack. Relying upon their nerdy insight, we purchased the "Blind Sack" and couldn't be happier! It contained a high quality dice sack, and 2 other sacks. One carried the dice and was marked "Rare"! The other a mysterious coin of fair quality, marked with the image of a Darklord on one side, the other a powerful incantation. 5/5 Would recommend for sacks.

It's cool that they have board game night (Thursdays) and that you can come play a board game yourself anytime during the day. On the same note-- if you have an old board game you can sell it here. You can now sell your used games in our store. To do this simply follow these few steps. You set the price and once it is sold you get 80% of that price as store credit.
