Good, not great. The reason I say that is because their dishes weren't memorable and they didn't leave me wanting to return to Hill on the very next day.
The best thing I had - bread! Homemade and warm, served with butter, fantastic!
Here are some of the details:
Pork tenderloin - the meat was cooked to perfection but it was seriously underseasoned. The whole dish just lacked imagination.
Veal Meatballs with mashed potatoes - another solid traditional Austrian dish, but not the best I ever had, or the best of its kind in Vienna.
Beef Tartare - good beef (steak) tartare is hard to find in Austria and Hill is no exception. Beef tartare should always, always be cut with a knife and not ground (just gross). Unfortunately, this is just some well seasoned ground beef.
Overall weaker than expected performance from Hill, especially considering that this restaurant is really pricy. read more
