I visited this restaurant based on the recommendation of true Viennese foodies and it lived to the reputation.
There were two seating areas: The tables inside were cozy but the terrace was delightful. The nice server promptly took the orders:
As we were a group of six, we ordered several dishes so we could try a little bit of everything and of course, the famous Wiener Schnitzel with mixed salad by which every restaurant in Austria is measured. Generally speaking, if that dish fails , usually it is a bad sign.
But here everything was fresh, flavorful and served generously.
The " Wiener " like they called it here was crispy on the outside with a wonderful breading and the veal was tender and tasty.
I discovered the scrambled eggs with wild mushrooms and I could see myself eating it for breakfast too.
The dumplings were huge but the flavor wasn't lost .
The fish was well cooked .
The deserts were as good as the main dishes and I can't recommend enough the palatshinken(crêpes) and the topfentorte( Austrian cheese cake).
In summary, maybe one of the best gasthaus in Vienna (typical Viennese restaurant) serving authentic Austrian cuisine at a great price! read more
