Newly built facility that is comfortable with spacious seating. Wonderful production by the students both actors and musicians. Parking for $5 immediately across the street in addition to metered street parking. And you can't beat the prices $20; less for seniors, students and season ticket holders. 2 pm show! This is a winner for anyone who enjoys the theater

Great theatre. Lots of fun. I love seeing the students perform. A great bang for your buck!

Located on Warren Avenue on the Wayne State University campus the Hilberry Theater is one of the nation's best rotating theaters. In other words, Wayne State grad students take classes in the morning, prepare for productions during the day, and perform plays in the evenings for the local crowd. Through a rigorous audition process the Hilberry Theater hires their actors, ensuring that only the best are gracing the stage and working backstage. And it shows. I've attended several plays here and have left entertained every time. The Hilberry provides theater goers with the best of the best, fantastic actors, gorgeous sets, and wonderful costuming, all combined to make a fabulous time at the theater. The current schedule and more information can be found on the theaters website.

The Hilberry Theatre is one of the reasons to be in Detroit. The Wayne State Spring Dance Performance is a jewel.

During my time with the company (two mainstage productions and one cabaret over about a year and a half), I saw a clear divide between the quality of the performances and the care for the people creating them. After I reported a more serious recent incident to members of leadership, it was deflected and ultimately ignored. In a follow-up call with a board member, he emphasized that their priority was "getting shows on stage," not addressing what happens between cast members offstage. That response made it clear that actor/performer safety and accountability are not treated as part of their responsibilities. From the outside, the organization looks polished and community-oriented. Inside, it lacks consistent, transparent leadership when harm occurs, and more troublingly, behind the curtain in rehearsals and offstage. The company prioritizes polished productions and familiar faces over genuine community. Long-standing contributors, especially skilled musicians or directors who have been around for years - also seem to operate without accountability. When serious issues arise, leadership's focus stays on keeping shows running and maintaining optics, not on addressing harm. This makes it difficult for newer members like myself to feel safe or valued. Connections at this theater stay surface-level because the culture doesn't encourage honesty or care beyond the stage. The theater's attention to sets, ticket sales, and production value is clear, but that same energy is rarely shown for the well-being of the people creating the work. New or prospective members/actors should be mindful of this culture and take care to understand how leadership handles concerns before committing their time energy, and talents here.

This place puts on a professional production, and the theater itself is so comfortable. There's lots of legroom and there aren't any blind spots really. If I had any criticism to give it would be not for the play, but for the concession and the 50/50 tickets. They need to post larger signs so you understand, or definitely have people tending who are bolder individuals.

In all my years of living in metro Detroit and my love for live music, I cannot believe I've never seen a show here, and I cannot wait to go back. We sat on the main floor and were able to get a great view of the vocalists and the orchestra. The acoustics sounded amazing and there truly is no bad seat in the house. Parking was a cinch with their parking garage right across the street. The box office was extremely helpful when I couldn't locate my ticket in my email, and answered my general questions. Now, if you are looking for a dinner idea before the show, the Paradise Lounge on the 2nd floor is featuring Abode catering and I highly recommend! The restaurant is elegant but cozy. Isaac was our server and took excellent care of us. Their prefix menu rotates and is absolutely delicious. The house-made sourdough bread was SO delicious, we asked for seconds. The beet salad, which Isaac said he created, was so fresh and the marriage of flavors was perfect. The entrée gives you a choice of a meat or a vegetarian dish, and we both ordered the chicken, which was yummy, and the Panna cotta and cookies were the perfect ending. The Panna cotta had basil oil with fresh fruit and it was a delightful blend of flavors. They also have a full bar, which is a great place to get your drinks before the show to avoid the crowd of the main level bars. Be sure to check out the lounge before your show!

Was seeking a local gym for classes while visiting the area and came across this place not too far…read morefrom the hotel that we're staying at. So happy I did! Drop in rate is 10.00 per class. A variety of classes are offered 7 days a week but unfortunately this past Sunday's were cancelled due to some special event they had (website's schedule is up to date). To book a class is super easy; choose which class you want and it tells you how many open spots are left. You pay via credit card and receive an email confirmation. Upon arrival you just go to either of the studios where the classes are held. I booked a spin class and the instructor came up to introduce herself and asked my name and said she saw it on her roster. As for the class, it was very good and the instructor (Jill) was super nice and chatted with her a bit after. Facility is very clean and the bikes were in excellent condition. The only con is it is very hard to find as there is no signage indicating where the center is located (you see the theater upon arrival). I stopped and asked what appeared to be some city road/construction workers and one was able to give me directions. Saw the building with a huge parking lot and assumed that was it as I saw some people going in who were in workout gear and carrying gym bags. Once you initially find it you are good to go and know what/where to go.

I just received an email from Dearborn Parks and Rec regarding my gym membership. I've been a…read morefaithful member of this gym for several years. It's understandable that they need to raise the rates but it's more than a quarter higher than what it initially used to be. In addition to that they're charging a $40 nonrefundable enrollment fee. All these cost combine make it un affordable for the majority of people in the city. I can see increasing the rates but to add a $40 enrollment fee for something that takes the lady behind the desk 30 seconds to issue. Your enrollment fee is ridiculous. I will be seeking my membership elsewhere and it's such a shame because the facility itself is beautiful, although I'm also frustrated with staff that they don't enforce handwashing or wiping down the machines after use so increasing risk of staph, Mrsa, and other illnesses and disease

The food was very tasty and we were able to meet and take pictures with three members of The Lion King production. There are elevators throughout the Opera House and plenty of parking nearby. Facility is clean and has such beautiful architecture. Acoustics are wonderful and there are no "bad seats". The show was AMAZING and my seat was fantastic. Back of the main floor on the aisle, which meant seamless entry and exit. There are plenty of restrooms on each floor and they are very clean. In addition, snacks are available for purchase. Merchandise selection was great and they had some pretty nice bundle deals. I purchased a blanket, Hakuna Matata tea mug and received a tote bag for $65. This is a traveling production. I highly recommend seeing it! The stage, costumes, music, and story are heartwarming. A great night out in Downtown Detroit!
