I'm an 8th grader in this school I don't dislike school but here's a few things…read more 1. Dress code; I fully understand this BUT, each day I see multiple people not following dress code. I feel this school is also picking favorites a few of my friends can agree. There are students who break dress code every day, including; crop tops (fully showing stomach), bra straps showing, spaghetti strap tank tops, ripped jeans (large holes above knees), short shorts, etc. Most of these students are close to the security officers and staff. Most of these students are average size too. I'm on the larger weight scale, and I have been dress coded for shorts one knuckle too short. My friends are larger sized as well, and they would agree with me. 2. Bullying; One of my close friends has been bullied for at least 2 1/2 months now. It started with simple words and started to get worse, name calling, notes, death threats, physical attacks (pushing, hitting), hateful Emails, and spreading lies. We have reported this at least 20 times weather it be, going to Safe2Say, telling a teacher directly, and even telling a principal directly. They still didn't do anything until she said she wanted to kill herself. The school still hasn't done anything since. I just find it so ironic that the school stands AGAINST bullying (we would even have assembly's about it), and they still don't do anything even though they have the power to. 3. The students opinions matter; I understand that some students would want to make an "Ice Cream Tuesday" or something like that BUT I have heard so many good ideas about how we could improve the school. On occasion the school would listen, but still not take some of these plans to action. I will give a few examples of great ideas I have heard from other students; Ex 1. School should have a plan for lunch where students vote on what they would want Ex 2. We should have more options for extra curricular Ex 3. Teachers should ask students their pronouns That's pretty much it. The 7-8th grade teachers are pretty chill so there's that
