I think it's probably becoming more known for the wedding/event venue portion, as we rolled up to shop the nursery and the doors weren't open and they tried to direct us to a party. But maybe that's just because I visited in the early winter and who shops a nursery then? In any case, once we made our way inside, it became clear they're making moves to up the adorbs factor and move to be way more than just a pot-em-up nursery. The main retail area here is lovely, with gifts, books, and loads of home decor. They've put some money into this, and while it still needs to be filled out a bit more, you can spend some time cruising here and be happy. From the main area, we made our way to the houseplant section. While there are a lot of expecteds there, I was surprised to see so many of them. We only found a few harder-to-find ferns (something way down the line in the birds nest family) but plenty of those old school ficus. I suppose the ficus sell, but with so many hot new ficus right now, I just was surprised at the quantity of the old schoolers. There are succulents as well, though thankfully not a bajillion. I liked many of the containers, especially the wee ones, and prices there were reasonable. We ended up with three ferns, one of which is now struggling due to a long vacation and a lack of water (my bad) but many of the plants there in the greenhouse needed a good amount of deadheading and some of the poor monstera were flagging, and generally it seems they probably need someone dedicated and diligent in the watering and upkeep. It could stand a little freshening up. I'd like to come back in the warm months to see what kind of trouble I could get into, but I still had a nice time and the other two ferns are going strong; the third has my full faith it will bounce back. read more

I stopped by Highland Gardens when they were hosting a small maker's market earlier this summer. I really just wanted to see the nursery, so that market was a total bonus, but they did a great job gathering together a good mix of products and skilled artisans, and even a cake food truck! Highland Gardens is actually a nursery/home goods store/event space, but they do it all very well. You'll enter the store first, and it is very open, light, and pleasant, with a mix of kitchen supplies, home décor, and gifts. They even have giant glass jars of Startup Candies' lollipops! Next is the large connected greenhouse, filled with all the tropical houseplants, and there are a lot! This area also holds the best variety of planters and pots that I've seen in the area, from modern and contemporary, plain and simple, to fanciful things like unicorns and more. A wide range of sizes, too! From there you can walk outdoors, and they have all the nursery standards one would expect: trees, bushes, perennials, etc. There were other greenhouses in this area, though I didn't do as much exploring here. My visit was in July, and, while they had a designated area for fruit and vegetable starts, only a few lonely herbs remained - it looked like they had just entirely cleared everything out. Understandable, due to the time of year, though other nurseries still had some leftovers, and I would have been interested to see how Highland's selections compared to others. Next year! The employees were friendly and offered (without me requesting) to hold on to my selections while I shopped. It was busy, so nice that they were thoughtful enough to notice my overloaded arms and suggest it. Prices seemed to be pretty average for everything, and plants appeared healthy and well cared for, particularly the houseplants. read more

The second I walked in I was immediately greeted by someone. The deco here was so aesthetic and clean! I came here to look at their indoor plants and must say that they have such a great selection of plants! They are all fairly priced, and have several of the same plant species to choose from. The plants looked like they were regularly cared for and looked very healthy. The workers also seemed to have great knowledge of the different plant species. I would definitely come here again to look for more indoor plants! The only downside is that I would not come here for pots, as I did not like many of their pot designs. Also, most pots did not have drainage holes (which I've seen a lot of other nurseries carry). read more

This was my second time attending a wedding reception here, and both experiences deeply impressed me!! The venue is filled with beautiful plants, one gorgeous water fixture, and plenty of space! There are two rooms- one is pictured here with all the seating, and is very effective for a receiving line. The other room is great for dining, and I believe the tables come with the venue! I would recommend this beautiful venue to anyone! The details make for a beautiful day and there is plenty of parking. read more

I can't say enough positive things about Highland Gardens. I have been shopping here for over a year now on a regular basis and they never cease to amaze me. Not only is their staff extremely helpful and knowledgeable, they also go above and beyond to make your experience perfect. Their houseplant and garden center selection is incredible. I've been able to fill my house with all of the varieties of beautiful plants that I've wanted this year. They will help with any questions you have on any plant and will go as far as to help you repot your plants that are outgrowing their current pot. Their shop is also so incredibly cute. The best household items with a variety of styles. Plus their designer puts together the most adorable front entrance decorations that will make you want to hire them for your next party. They are also very up to date on current covid protocols keeping everything sanitary and always wearing their masks. read more

They have a very unfair return policy. The minute you walk out the door you own it and will never be able to return it no matter what. Furthermore, the plants don't look very healthy here, compared to some other places I went afterwards. And while some of the employees have some knowledge, it's nothing like I found it other places. And while the employees know that the exchange policy is unfair, they said that the owner will not allow them to deviate from it. read more

Wedding Reception Cant say enough about how great this place was for our Wedding Reception. The event staff managed everything well from setup, AV, timeline management, and clean-up. The venue was beautiful. Truly we had no issues. A few points about our reception. -Family catered the food and managed the kitchen. This included food prep, serving, and cleanup. Venue had some serving dishes, spoons, and drink dispensers. The positive was that the venue pretty much left us alone here. Serving dishes, plates and other items were procured from Restaurant Depot in SLC. -Venue staff assisted with the lighting and decorations for the tables. Family added decorations and chair sashes purchased online. -AV and sound equipment was provided by the venue and worked flawlessly. Cant say enough about the venue.
