HGL responded quickly to my Yelp request. And gave me a fair price for the work requested. I am very pleased with their work.

We had an anmazing experience with G and R Lawn and Landscaping. Gairy and his team removed an old…read morefence, cleared out years of debris, and prepped and sodded our lawn. There so many thoughtful touches, a pathway for my dads wheelchair, mulch barriers from my neighbors wild flowers, storage for our kayaks. The transformation was huge, it's like a whole new house. Gairy was incredibly kind, easy to work with, and very responsive throughout the process. Pricing was also very reasonable for the amount of work completed. We're extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend them.

Third job: (Last fall) paid for manual pulling/removal of Bermuda grass from garden beds, plus weed control and mulch. Emphasis on manual removal - explicitly was told they would pull all the Bermuda out manually to get all the roots out. Took a bit of chasing around to get them to actually get it on the books, and then when they did come they just buzzed everything with a string trimmed and sprayed weed killer over that. We agreed to still pay the full price on the condition that Gairy would send a team out in the spring once the Bermuda woke up and inevitably came through the mulch since it wasn't removed. He agreed, and we left it at that. Flash forward to this year and has completely ghosted us and been non-responsive. Even tried asking about having a bunch of other services added so that it wouldn't be a totally free trip, but still No luck. We finally gave up on any hope of getting the promised services, hired Mr. Outdoor Living, dropped like $4K on services with them instead and will be sticking with them next year when we do a sprinkler system and stone retaining walls.

Beware of GrassWorks Landscaping. Brittany Flynt will respond to your Nextdoor post offering their…read moreservices for mowing, edging, trimming and blowing. Derrick Flynt agreed to provide lawn service to me for $60 every two weeks and $45 weekly. He mowed two times total two weeks apart. I paid him $60 each time in cash on site the day he mowed as was agreed upon both times. As the weather had been extremely hot for a period of time the lawn only required mowing every two weeks. It has been raining quite a bit the last few days and I asked that they mow this week rather than next week. I was told by Derrick Flynt that I would need to pay $60 this week as well because I "wasn't on a weekly schedule" and this would be a "fill in mow". The original agreed upon cost magically changed. I was told by Derrick that he was "doing a favor" by getting me in for mowing. I explained to him that he wasn't doing me any "favor" since I was paying him what was agreed upon as soon as he mowed. He said I was a "problem customer" that he doesn't need. He further stated that "I'm building a business. I'm not just mowing lawns. I am building a landscaping business. Residential customers like yourself don't know what the word "landscaping" means. You need someone to mow your yard.". I informed Mr. Flynt that my post that HIS company responded to was for MOWING. He further said, "That's what's wrong with customers these days. They want you to do stuff for nothing. Do you own a 15 thousand dollar mower. Do you have the equipment needed to do what I do? No you don't". I thought about that and to Mr. Flynt... I actually DO have the equipment needed to do what you do... It's called a LAWN MOWER and I wasn't dumb enough to spend $15,000 on it. Anyway, I explained to Mr. Flynt that I would be leaving his business a review and people read my reviews. Mr. Flynt said, "I got 15 customers that will vouch for my services. Your one review will not hurt me." I guess Mr. Flynt doesn't realize yet that he messed with the wrong person but he will soon find out that when someone is wrong I will scream it from the mountain tops to help others not have the same bad experiences I had. I will add that I wrote a professional reply to his company's offer for services on my original Nextdoor post but this company couldn't handle speaking the truth and removed their offer comment thus removing my reply. I am only making this post due to that removal which shows just how crooked GrassWorks Landscaping actually is. I will also add that Mr. Flynt messaged me while the weather was unstable and pouring rain wanting to know if I wanted him to lay 20 bags of red mulch in my yard for $400. The problem with this for me was that not only did I want brown mulch but his original price was to lay mulch for $300 after he saw the area that needed mulch. I asked Mr. Flynt about the price change and was told "That was my price for putting it down. That was not me buying the mulch. And I said it would be around $300." To Mr. Flynt: $200 is as much around $300 as $400 is and I didn't notice you dropping the price. What a stupid comment to make to a customer. When I told Mr. Flynt that I prefer brown mulch and the price was too high for me to do it at the time, he responded with "$400 is really cheap." Doing the math, Mr. Flynt's price is $20 per bag. I've laid my own mulch before and I would never give someone a $20 bill every time they ripped open 1 bag of mulch, dump it out and rake it. To Mr. Flynt: Oh yeah it's "really cheap" when it's someone else's money. Please don't use these people or you will be sorry. Feel free to private message me or comment here if you have any questions. I have nothing to hide but believe me GrassWorks Landscaping sure does.
