Oak Island light house

Our extended family came down to Ocean Isle Beach to celebrate my in-laws 50th anniversary. I or called High Tide Aviation to see if they could accommodate us, and they organized an incredible tour for everyone on two Cessna 172s and one Robinson R44 helicopter! As a commercial pilot myself, I got to fly my kids and in-laws on their first flights over beautiful Cape Fear and Bald Head Island. Dan, Richard, Brandon, and Jessica were the ultimate professionals and tour guides. Thank you for the memorable experience High Tide!

Thank you High Tide Aviation!

Everyone at High Tide Aviation was awesome! They were friendly and professional and made the experience so enjoyable for our son and his grandparents! We highly recommend them if you are in the Oak Island area!

My three sons and I took a helicopter tour this past weekend with high tide helicopters. The three boys went with Daniel and I went with Shelby. I cannot express in words how much fun it was, and how professional of a business this is. We took the short beach tour. Which at $50 a person was an incredible deal. They were super flexible with our arrival time. We were scheduled for 4 PM but because of our other activities in the afternoon, they allowed us to call them as we left our previous destination so that we could arrive a little bit late and on our own schedule. The staff were all very pleasant and cheerful. They even gave my husbands service dog a bowl of water! :-) We all highly recommend high tide helicopters!

I am highly disappointed with Brunswick Air and I will never recommend this flight school to…read moreanyone. My story with them started on Jan 23. 2020. During the old Management/Owner. During this time, I took my first flight with 1st CFI which was about 45min, I asked a ton of questions as to who would be my flight instructor, how long it would take and the cost. I was advised that the flight instructor will depend on a few factors, My schedule and compatibility. Great! On my second flight I was introduced to 2nd CFI, an older retired military pilot, we hit it off right away, during our first flight he introduced me to a few maneuvers, Slow flight and S-turns, he then asked if I have ever flown before, I advise just as a passenger. Things went well for the next 5 flights, Then Covid hit, for 3 months the school was closed. On 5/14 /2020 the school opened up and I was called, at that time I was advised the 2nd CFI would not be coming back so they paired me with a Younger CFI, I was concerned about this and because I began with 2nd CFI and already had time and money invested. It was explained to me that my log book will tell the story and not to worry because I would not have to start all over again that the new 3rd CFI will just continue where I left off with the 2nd CFI. I said OK and began working with 3rd CFI. We had flown from 05/14 /2020to 08/24/2021 fly approximately 3 to 4 times a month with some cancellations due to weather, maintenance and other life events. On 08/24/2021 we were scheduled to fly to Conway but I was advised that it would be my last flight with 3rd CFI as he was picked up by an airline which was great for him but my concerns grew once again, because I would have to work with yet another flight instructor. The next three flights were with 4th CFI, which was one of the worst instructors I had encountered in any profession. On the third flight I cut the flight short because he was too cavalier with safety and more concerned about building hours for himself rather than instructing. I had a conversation with him and provided him some feedback and explained that I cannot fly with him. At this point I was going to go elsewhere, the original owner at the time, apologized and got a new instructor and again my concern was time spent on training and money. She introduced me to my current instructor 5th, I was with him a few times and we also hit it off well. Here comes the hammer, the original owners decided to sell and retire, I was again concerned because I had accumulated 49 hours of flight training, 13.72 ground training and spent $10,785. Again, I was told not to worry that my logbook will tell the story and not much will change. Now 60.4hrs flight time, 21.64hrs ground a total of 82.32hrs and $13,720 spent, I was once gain mislead, the new owner has implemented a new process 6 months after he took over and without notice. According to this new process I am only now 30% completed and my instructor stated that unfortunately the time I spent with the school and instructor prior only will count as experience only. I didn't understand, experience comes from flying; I am paying them to teach. This feels to me as once the new owner took over everything prior is a wash. Now I am stuck, this is horrible.

I have found all the instructors to be extremely competent and professional. Also hardworking and willing to go out of their way and adjust schedules to meet their students needs. The aircraft are well maintained and availability hasn't been an issue. They have onsite maintenance if any issues arise which keep the planes flying and students progressing. The school itself is inside a well maintained facility with a fun lounge. Plenty of space to study before or after flights. They also do charter flights and helicopter rides so there's always lots of activity. The SC weather is also good for training with lots of VFR days and lots of good views of the coast. I'd highly recommend this school to anyone looking to start their career or fly for fun

Amazing!!! I just took my first discovery flight and I've never been so full of adrenaline! I had…read moreno idea something could feel so fun and freeing. My flight teacher was so nice, he let me fly almost the entire time-but he was obviously helping me out. I got to do everything but land. That's the hardest part he said. I've done a lot of crazy and adventurous things in my life but this has to be one of the most memorable. They gave me some financing options when I asked and answered all of my 500 questions and never seemed to mind me driving them nuts with all the questions. I'm just a very detailed person and I like to know all the info. No question, I am getting my license! And I'm doing it there. They have a beautiful new building that takes up an entire city block (no joke), packed with cool flight simulators and stuff and it just feels like a big, fun pilot playhouse-yet professional at the same time. I can't really describe the place other than to say FUN! There were a lot of kids (full time airline pilot cadets in training) that looked to be in their early 20's or maybe late teens buzzing around in the learning labs and hallways that made me feel 20 years younger just by the energy in the place. Everybody was talking about airplanes and helicopters and were kind of working together to help one another learn using all the cool 'toys' the school has. I've never been in a learning environment quite like this. So cool! These guys have totally changed the way school is run. If I could go back in time I would've easily chosen this route instead of wasting 7 years in college and post grad. Seriously rethinking my current career in the legal world now! I can't wait to take my son there next weekend.

This was an afternoon filled with tons of fun!…read more We were in the area for vacation and OIB has the usually beachy entertainment options. This one was a refreshing break from mini golf and arcades and fun for both kids and adults. We had a pretty large group and some did the zip line course and some braved the adventure park (aka ropes course). We had lots and lots of fun, overcame some anxiety, and had a few sore muscles to show off our achievements. I also owe a big shout out to George, who was amazingly patient with my crew and helped coordinate the outing so that we all started/finished around the same times. I also heard from the kids that their guides were fantastic. They were especially impressed that they remembered every single person's name for an event that lasts only a few hours.

For the Zipline tour, we had Jesse, Margaret, and Lacey as our guides and all of them were great! The zip lines were very fun, and all three guides took every measure to ensure our safety, creating a good sense of trust. We all felt like a group of friends by the end of our tour. They also take photos at the beginning, middle, and end of the tour with specific spots for photo ops which I truly appreciate! (You do have to pay for the photos.) I will absolutely recommend The Swamp Park to friends and family! We plan to come back and try the ATV tour next!
