I have a city-wide YMCA membership. I used to only visit the Beaumont location to do water aerobics with my friends, but recently I decided to check out the other two YMCA's and have started to come here instead of Beaumont. This is an older location, and a lot less crowded than the Beaumont Y (but not as empty as Northside). I usually run on the track, which is above the gym. You have to climb an old iron spiral staircase to get to the track and it isn't air conditioned, so it is oftentimes empty (which is exactly what I am looking for). The track rattles in some spots, so that may bother some people. Also, if you have a fear of heights, I wouldn't recommend using this track. There are a good number of classes that you can attend at this Y. I have gone to the Zumba class and enjoyed it. One of my friends does pilates here and really likes it. A big plus is that they have towel service at this location and not the others. I also want to note that at this Y people are a lot less shy about walking around without towels on than the other two!

The High Street Y may not be the newest, shiniest gym in Lexington, but it shouldn't be discounted! The staff are helpful and friendly, there are always machines open, and for $30 a month it is definitely budget-friendly. Great pilates and yoga classes for all levels of experience.

This is number two on my favorite all time gyms i have been to, topped only by the Claremont Club in California. Hard to beat. 5 big stars for you!

My husband had a membership at LAC, and when we moved in December, he went online to cancel. The cancellation tab was not working (website issue) so he called LAC to figure out how to proceed. The employee told him to email a specific address and request cancellation. After doing so, he called back to ask if there was anything else he needed to do. Another employee told him there was nothing else for him to do and that his membership would be canceled. In January, we received a charge for him membership. He called LAC and inquired about the charge. They told him that his account was still open and that they would close it and cancel the charge. The charge was never canceled. In February, we did not receive a charge. On march 6th, he received a call from an employee named Lizzie, who told him that they made a mistake and didn't charge him for February, but that his account was still open and they would be charging him for February and March. Over the span of several calls with Isaac and Jordan later that day to dispute this, we were told that "the best way to cancel is to come in person". We had been moved out of Lexington for months at this point and it would have been extremely inconvenient for us to make a trip solely to cancel his membership. We explained this to them and they said they would cancel it. We asked for a refund for January- March and they said they would get back to us. On March 10th, I called to check in as I had not heard back. I was told that the health department was there that day so they were unable to help me? Isaac told me to forward the emails that we had sent back in December to his email. When I sent them over he replied "oh yeah, it makes sense why this was never seen. That guy left shortly after this was sent." Poor management on their end for this to be the answer we were given. Isaac told me that he would talk to Jordan since he dealt with issues as such and that I'd be receiving a call from him. I was never called, so I reached out again on March 22nd and was told Jordan was not in office. I reached out again the next day and was told by Jordan that he would report the issue to corporate. And when he looked at our account, he said it was still open?? After several conversations about getting out account closed it was still open?? He said he would escalate the closing of the account, whatever that means? Anyways, we were told we would be hearing from corporate soon. Fast forward to today, I still haven't heard back, so I called and was told by Isaac "great news! Your account is finally closed!" This was frustrating to hear as it should have been closed months ago. I told him that I was actually calling to inquire about my refund and see if corporate had gotten back to them. He acted like he didn't know what I was talking about and said that would have to be managed by them. He told me he would talk to Jordan and get back to me. I'm sure I won't hear back from them as they have not initiated a single call that they have promised. Aside from management, the facility was not wonderful. My husband had also signed up for swimming lessons through one of their instructors. The communication leading up to the lesson was horrible, and then the instructor never showed up? He called and no answer. She called back several days later with no apology or explanation for her no show, and rescheduled. My husband said she was extremely passive aggressive during the lesson. My husband and I are not the type to complain- we try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and find the good in each situation. However, I am so frustrated with this facility. The monthly membership is far too expensive to be treated like this.

There is plenty of parking, the staff are attentive when you need them, and it is not a bad gym at all. The machines are hardly ever out of order, they recently added new equipment, and it's not dirty at all compared to other places I have been to. The price is great, their in-store items are reasonably priced, they're open 24 hrs... just great honestly. It is nice to see all ages and athletic levels coming in to workout; it is also a very diverse spot. Yes, it gets busy, but I never had to wait more than 2 min for a machine. Lastly, you can cancel online if needed now... that alone is a great perk nowadays. Overall, I'd give this PF location a 9/10.

Not sure I even saw everything as it's a 2 story building. All the equipment I used was clean and in good working condition. I only had minor wait times and it was a peak time I went in (5:30 PM). The staff was friendly and helpful as a newcomer I didn't know where things were. I would highly recommend checking it out and I will be going the rest of my week I'm here in Lexington and most likely during my future trips.

A friend dragged me into StrongerLife 3 yrs ago and my life hasn't been the same since. I discovered things about myself that I wouldn't have dreamed were true: StrongerLife taught me that I'm (and, helped me become) strong, more flexible, capable of lowering blood pressure and blood sugar, more energetic, walk 2-4 miles a day with ease, improve bone density and mental acuity. There are options for every movement or exercise in the event you have an injury, or are post-surgery. StrongerLife is way, way more than a gym. It's a community with classes, events, individual coaching, challenges, workshops....and, a slew of professional, accredited coaches (the founders are both Doctors of Physical Therapy) who help us to be the best "old people" we can be. Turns out: StrongerLifers don't think of themselves as old anymore. Many of us (including me) feel we're living our best lives Right Now! We're vibrant, motivated, gain so much social interaction with good friends we've come to love so much. ALL of these things are making my "golden years" gloriously enjoyable. I hope you'll give StrongerLife a try! By the way: A group of us walk every Wednesday morning at 9am throughout the Kenwick neighborhood. You don't have to be a member of Strongerlife to join us, so....JOIN US!! We walk two miles, then retire to Kenwick Table for tea, coffee, croissants, muffins and excellent camaraderie. The entrance to Create is a toy store and it looked like they had a lot of fun items- I will definitely be back when looking for kids gifts. We were welcomed by the owners through the lego rainbow to join the party. My son was immediately so excited about all the fun activities that were set up! There were 3 sensory/play bins, a play dough station, and an art station arranged with tons of supplies for the party-goers to paint a doughnut. My son is a year and a half so he was mainly into the sensory bins. There was also a giant "cake" set up with colored shaving cream "paint" so the attendees could decorate the cake. I was a little worried that my son was making such a mess being pretty young, but the owners were really chill about it and encouraged him to participate! We had a great experience and I would love to go back to Create!
