Zaksee Florida Bird Sanctuary - Fred and Magic

    Zaksee Florida Bird Sanctuary

Magic is dedicated to the birds in his care and loves all of them…read more It is very sad when people buy birds thinking that this pretty bird will look good in their living room but after a very short time find out that this bird needs lots of attention, is loud, destructive, and messy. So after this short time this person looks for some place to place their bird but does not believe they should support it. Hence they bring their bird to a sanctuary thinking that it is up to them to take care and feed it. Non for profit sanctuaries depend on volunteers and donations to help feed, water and give attention to these birds. If there are no donations or volunteers it is left up to the person owning the sanctuary to feed and house along with giving them their needed attention. Some of the birds (a small amount) are given up because the person can no longer take care of them because of health reasons. These birds can live anywhere from 30 years to over 100 years which is more than some of our lifetime. Magic spends 24-7 taking care of these birds and only asks that if anyone can afford to give to help take care of these birds along with dedicated volunteer work for a few hours per week it would be greatly appreciated. I can't say enough about Magic's dedication and love for these birds and their genuine love for him. I have had to place 3 of my birds with him because of my health and I feel they are getting the best of his care.

It's a beautiful place for a beautiful cause and I truly enjoyed meeting Magic and his cast of characters! He is so passionate about what he does and all donations go to ensuring these lovely birds have the best home possible!

Located in the "beer can" building, otherwise known as Rivergate Tower, in downtown Tampa just off Curtis Hixon Park, the WaVe site is home to a startup accelerator program as well as a large coworking space, private offices, and event meeting space. I've been to the WaVe offices for work and to visit for a event, and it's always a great experience. Just walking in the modern lobby past Kahwa coffee is pleasant. Deborah, the Director of Operations, goes above and beyond to make sure that coworkers and entrepreneurs working in the space get the most out of their experience, as I'm sure the whole staff does. I'm a big fan of the coworking movement in general, and the space at WaVeis large, with high ceilings and lots of windows, along with long wooden tables where you can set up shop next to a coworker or at a separate table if you want to work more removed. Coworking rates can be found on the website. For events, there is a large area where chairs can be arranged for a presentation and high-top bar tables for mingling. To unwind, they "just" feature a foosball table and video game section, NBD. If you work from home in the tech field, need a quiet place to collaborate, or just want to check the space out one night for a special meetup or tech event, I recommend it. If you have the next great tech venture under your wing, then I *definitely* recommend it.
