They disavowed ever having worked with us. Take it for whatever it is worth. This wasn't an effort to rate them low, but then they disavowed us as clients. The review is real. The work was not nearly as high-quality as we would have hoped for with the cost. As far as we could tell, they did not do more than a primer on the walls. There were many detail-related issues that fell short. The contractor was really never on site. It was very rarely that he came to check on the work of his team. Mostly he just was not there to see if his crew was doing quality work. He would come after they left and then say he would tell them later. He was never there at the same time as him as far as we know. We had a bathroom remodeled and the paint they used was not suited to be used over a shower, as the ceiling above the shower immediately began peeling upon use. It looks awful and started looking awful right away. There are multiple areas where we had to fix them on our own. They touched up areas of the paint with a different paint than the first paint, so you can see patches. The crawlspace door, for example, was so poorly re-attached after painting it, that it fell off almost immediately. The wet bar was installed such that when they reconnected the pipes, it leaked and flooded part of the basement and ruined some of the brand new floors they had just put in. We needed to replace the kickplate on the cabinet under the sink due to the water damage. Every time we pointed something out that had not been done, they said it was supposedly not what we initially said we wanted. Be VERY specific about what you want, down to the small details. Document it. In addition, they told us they might fix stuff, but they had no time to come back later due to other pending jobs. And it took FOREVER to finish. The price would have been fine overall, but considering how much we had to address on our own, we are not at all satisfied with what we got for the money. It is not ok to have to follow up on a full remodel and have to fix stuff on our own after the fact. To summarize, the basement is better than it was before, but not nearly as good quality of the work we thought we would get. Would not recommend. This job cost us $23k. We felt like we were just a space-filler job between other more important and profitable jobs to them, and the end result was an obvious testament to their "quality" and "flawless" work. We would have persisted about the inadequacy in the work, but by the time it was done, we were over it.

HHS came to our home and worked diligently for a few weeks and fixed everything we needed fixed and then did more. He installed a new garage door opener, did all our exterior lights (beautiful), installed our overhead garage storage racks, replaced deck planks, painted a wall, rewired in wall speakers, replaced bad LED can lights, fixed wall imperfections due to bad drywall, and fixed our seal on our front door. Doug at HHS is professional, very price competitive when he doesn't have to be because he's awesome, and knows just about everything about anything. If you're thinking of any home project, he is someone you should call. I wish I had known about him before we remodeled our home.

It then progressed into being called repeatedly to the point of harassment from the owner. We hired VHS to replace our downstairs flooring and tile a small bathroom floor to ceiling. It was…read moresuppose to take about 3 days and it took about 2 weeks. The overall job was good but we had some issues. After they laid the floor my two front doors would not open because the floor was too high. They had to end up taking the doors out and redo the trim and then put them back in. The guys dented my frig when they used a furniture mover to pull it out and scratched the floor. The piece that they glued to the step and transition strip had to be reglued. The supervisor that came out was great and fixed everything. The end project was ok but it was really stressful. I think the guys were all subcontractors. I would probable not use them except for carpet.

Several years ago we used Carriage House Carpet One Floor & Home for a Kitchen remodel. We were…read morevery happy with the products we purchased but customer service with installation was poor. When we asked to have a couple of tiles switched out before grouting, an owner reached us by phone and told us there not enough tiles to do so and that she thought we "would get used to" the current placement with time. (Eventually sample tiles were used to replace.) Part of the backsplash tile was placed unevenly and when that installer returned a few months later, he advised against trying to remedy as he said the same grout might now dry to a different shade. We were also told by a store owner that all issues with installers had to be dealt with directly by the customer. 2 years later, a different installer from this store came to replace some of the floor tile that had cracked and was able to remedy our issues to our satisfaction. We are grateful for this but disappointed with the lack of support earlier.
