Very inconsistent with what they told my husband compared to myself and pricing was way off. Would not recommend.

Mis-diagnosed a cancerous tumor on my cat. Now he's dead. Wish he at least said sorry.

Charlie's mass had previously been evaluated through Seattle Veterinary Specialists when it was small, and I was told it was benign. After it grew, repeat testing identified it as a malignant sarcoma. Dr. Stockdale subsequently recommended a biopsy to determine the tumor grade and whether Charlie should undergo aggressive surgery. His own report documents that the tumor was already extensively invasive. I trusted his medical judgment and authorized the biopsy. I NEVER would have done so had I known what I learned immediately afterward. I took Charlie to a senior surgeon specializing in soft-tissue sarcomas who examined him and told me that, based on the sheer size of the tumor, surgical removal was medically impossible and Charlie would bleed out. He also told me that reconstruction of the abdominal wall on the scale being contemplated was not medically feasible. Had I received that experienced surgical opinion first, there would have been absolutely no reason for me to put my already suffering 16-year-old dog through an invasive biopsy. Dr. Stockdale's written report also describes potential surgery involving a hemipelvectomy and right hind-limb amputation. I do not recall him ever disclosing possible limb amputation to me before I consented to the biopsy. Charlie suffered significant additional pain, and then I received an enormous bill--after this same veterinary system had previously evaluated his mass when it was small and I had been told it was benign. The biopsy was performed on June 7. Charlie died just 54 days later, on July 31. I consulted an attorney at the time regarding veterinary malpractice and was encouraged to file a complaint and report what happened. My overwhelming grief after Charlie's death prevented me from pursuing it then. I now intend to file a formal complaint with the Washington Veterinary Board so that what happened to Charlie can finally be reviewed. This experience permanently changed my view of financially incentivized veterinary and medical care. When the institution recommending procedures also profits from performing them, patients and families are extraordinarily dependent upon the honesty, integrity, experience, and sound judgment of the professionals advising them. I would never entrust another animal to Stephen Stockdale's care. I strongly encourage anyone facing a serious diagnosis to obtain an independent opinion before agreeing to invasive procedures--even when, as I did, you reasonably believe that a licensed, board-certified surgeon should be someone you can trust to provide competent surgical guidance based solely on the best interests of the animal rather than the financial interests of the institution providing the care. I will always regret trusting the surgical guidance Stephen Stockdale gave me--guidance that a senior soft-tissue sarcoma surgeon subsequently told me was medically wrong. Had I been given an accurate assessment of Charlie's surgical options from the beginning, I NEVER would have subjected him to that invasive biopsy.

Our son and his family went through the same thing and the only thing they got out was their dog, Abby. We both chose Riverside Animal Hospital and were glad we did. Though Abby has passed away from cancer, the care she got was second to none. I brought Trudy today for a follow up, from a urinary tract infection and possible mass on her bladder. To say I was scared was an understatement. As I walked in the office, I was greeted professionally and more important a reassuring welcome. This made me feel, so much more comfortable and I knew, It was so sincere. Each person had a caring smile on their face. I was immediately brought back to the station, for the examination. Again, I was treated with much kindness and in a real professional manner. She asked about how Trudy was doing and did an initial exam. She could tell I was scared and gave me much reassurance. After this examination, Trudy was taken to a different room and an ultrasound took place. I was so scared. Thinking the worst, and hoping that my prayers would be answered, in a positive way. After a few minutes, the veterinary staff doctor and assistant returned. They gave me positive information and I was so relieved and so thankful for Riverside Animal Hospital, for the amazing job, that they all did, from the time I walked in to the time that I left. We will go back in about a month for a recheck up and hope and pray that everything will be OK. The professionalism, knowledge, work ethic and sensitivity from the Riverside Animal Hospital team, is second to none. Thank you for letting me share my story.

My…read morefriend in town recommended this clinic to us, and when they heard what was happening, they were able to squeeze us into their busy day. They called us the next day to check in us, and Bailey was improving. When she went back to her original kibble a week later, though, she started vomiting, so I called the clinic again, and we made a plan to put her back on the special diet and bring her back in if she hadn't improved. She did improve so we canceled the second visit. A month later and after just finishing the cans of special diet, we think she is on the mend. We have a follow up at home in two days, but we are so appreciative of the vets and staff here who helped us.

This clinic completely neglected my dog's health and tried to gaslight me about his medical history, even though it is explicitly documented in their own records. Ignored Symptoms & Documentation: On 08/17/2026, I called the clinic specifically reporting that my dog's ears were getting worse and that his eye was now affected as well. Their own task notes confirm this exact phone call. Contradictory Treatments: After an initial visit where he was given steroids without antibiotics (which caused his issues to flare), subsequent visits failed to properly address the secondary infection spreading to his eye. Denying Their Own Notes: When I called back regarding ongoing discharge, the clinic claimed on 09/09/2026 that I had never mentioned his eye previously and that it must have "just happened" to force another paid visit. However, their SOAP notes from 08/26/2026 also clearly document my reports regarding his left eye discharge starting right after the steroids. They repeatedly dismissed clear symptoms, failed to provide appropriate ongoing care, and tried to deny what is plainly written in their own patient files. I would never trust them with an animal again.
