Lots of represses, most are still sealed. Nice ambiance.

How pleased am I that this lil record store slash cafe showed up in my hood? Very very pleased. Collectors, aficionados, crate diggers and East Village ex-pats will feel right at home here - not least because the owner Javi is a genuine dude who digs all kinds of music and is interested in what you like, what you're looking for, and what you might be selling. I dropped by on a Saturday evening (they're open till 8 on Sats, which will hopefully lead to weekly live music/djs). The collection is compact, with a lot of new 180-gram represses for collectors. Some had no price tag, but all records were scannable and started at at around $20. The used bins were color-coded, $1 to $10, and here's where my interest was piqued - everything from film soundtracks to hair metal, both reasonably worn and priced. I dig that they're equipped with an espresso maker - perfect for sipping while digging! Javi got me a cup of plain joe, which was solid. Their opening party last week was a success, judging by the photos, and I left dreaming of upcoming musical events and all the fun records I was going to find there. Thanks for joining the neighborhood, HiFi! Stay as long as you like.

It's a cafe and the sign says coffee shop. It's apaerantly a coffee shop but they don't serve coffee? How strange.

Really odd pricing on used records. $8 for LPs you can find in most stores' dollar bins.

Worst customer service ever, extremely rude and abrasive and almost confrontational! Never going back again, don't support these pricks.

Super-cool staff, plenty of cool stacks to dig through. Felt a little like the old days going in there!

Come to Sunnyside Queens and go to Stray Vintage. I moved into Sunnyside a coupla years ago. As I was walkin around the neighborhood, checkin different locales out, I heard some insanely melodic and soulful music coming from this hole in the wall on the side of a large apartment complex. I walked in and I saw walls and boxes filled with vinyls, antique furniture, vintage 1950s movie posters, Surfboards???!!!! Just a plethora of unique, fun stuff. I immediately knew this was an amazing place that id be frequenting a lot As I wandered around in absolute awe of the amazingness of the place, a tallish cool lookin guy greeted me with a super warm, "Hey man, how can I help you?!" I immediately exclaimed, "This is the coolest freakin shop ever." And so began a quick friendship with the owner and one of the coolest guys in Sunnyside, Danny. Listen I know it sounds like im hyping this place up and guess freakin what...youre absolutely right! Since ive been going to Stray I found out thats its more than just a store. Its a gathering place for all sorts of unique characters and individuals. A meeting place for community where you can talk and just listen to great music. Its funny because now that Ive been goin to Stray for so long ive realized its even better than any makeshift movie dream. Its so freakin real. Go there! Tell Danny John sent ya!!!

Nice super small place, with a focus on records. Somewhat leans towards mid-century modern items. Seems to have reasonable turnover on items, so it's worth stopping in periodically to see what's new. Like the focus on Queens items and art, hope for even more in the future.
