The atmosphere was incredibly comfortable and all the artists and clientele were also very approachable. For my first tattoo, Krystal worked with me to solidify my design and I'm glad I listened. She was incredibly kind and very detail oriented, as well as fair on pricing. She also squeezed in my girlfriend before her next app and helped designed her tattoo as well! Overall I had a great experience and would highly recommend Krystal for any work, and based off the conversations with other artists and seeing their work I bet you can't really go wrong with anyone here.

This was not a one time appointment. It was an ongoing piece that required multiple sessions to complete. The shop's public response claimed there were repeated issues with cancellations and deposits over "5 years," but after recovering the full timestamped message history, that claim simply does not match the record. The messages show: * Multiple confirmed appointments and continued sessions * Only two cancellations on my end, both with notice and accepted at the time * A cancellation by Cole in 2020 one week before a scheduled appointment * Repeated attempts from me between 2018 and 2021 to finish the tattoo At no point did I abandon the project. I repeatedly reached out to continue and complete the work, including coordinating while living in St. George and willing to drive 4 hours for appointments. The tattoo remains unfinished, and I've now been told no resolution or compensation will be offered. I have since consulted another artist and will have to pay approximately $1200 to complete and correct the work. This review is not about being denied future service. It's about being left with an unfinished multi session tattoo after years of documented attempts to complete it. All of this is supported by timestamped messages and direct communication with the shop owner.

- [ ] I had my very first tattoo ever at age 78 at the Hive October 2024, starting with a tattoo of…read moremy dog who had recently passed away in May but It took me months later to get up enough courage to actually make an appointment with an artist who was at the front desk when I went in. At my first appointment, I found out my artist was an apprentice. I made it known that I was interested in color tattoos but my artist only worked with black but was willing to do color. It's my opinion, I should have been referred to a more experienced artist specializing in color especially because of my age and my more fragile skin. It also would have been helpful to have been given a heads up on the tattoo process particularly since it was my first experience and my advanced age. - [ ] My artist completed 5 tattoos for me this past year 3 color and 2 black. All the color tattoos needed to be retouched. I'm unsure if that was because of lack of colored ink experience or if that's a normal occurrence. Uncomfortable for me though! My tattoo sessions began with a 1 1/2 to 2 hour wait while she set up. It seemed the long wait was a lack of preparedness since I never made any last minute changes. Needless to say the long waits were uncomfortable physically and mentally. The most prominent example and increased frustration was my last completed tattoo. My appointment was at 11 but didn't start until almost 2 pm...I waited 3 hours! My artist completed an outline in black of my design then announced at 3:30 she had to leave, so there I sat with an unfinished tattoo after already being there 4 1/2 hrs. I appreciate very much her mentor finishing my tattoo and filling in all the color. The tattoo turned out beautifully and never had to be retouched. - [ ] My recent appt was scheduled almost two months ahead. We went back and forth on design several times before I finally asked my artist to design something for me. She was to give me the final drawing the day before my appt but I didn't hear back from her until about 7 pm the night before only to have her reschedule my appointment for two days later. She would only complete an outline not the full tattoo. I guess maybe all the cumulative wait times and rescheduling was the last straw. I sort of felt disrespected and taken advantage of. Over the course of my tattoos she had rescheduled half my appts and made me wait 1 1/2 to up to 3 hrs before even starting my tattoos. When my artist stated I needed to make an agreement with her, under the stress of our back and forth I said some things that were inappropriate...I'm so sorry. After that I canceled my appointment and asked for my money back...she was kind enough to do that. Aside from my long waits, my artist and I had a good rapport. She is a sweet young woman with exceptional artistic abilities...just feel she could work on being better prepared. - [ ] I had written communication with the owner requesting him to do my tattoo because I had cancelled my appointment with my artist. He probed me for info but I told him I didn't want to get my artist in trouble. He gave me the Impression that in order to proceed with the chance of him doing my tattoo we had to discuss what had transpired between my artist and I so I agreed to a meeting at The Hive. In our meeting, the owner didn't even mention my request for him doing my tattoo. Instead he said he would not trust me to have a tattoo with anyone else there at the hive. In other words, he was not willing to give me a second chance. He said he would give me some other tattoo recommendations elsewhere. I felt he was very supportive of his employees more so than me as a customer. I felt he conned me into meeting with him thinking he would do my tattoo. I probably will never get the tattoo I wanted because it took me a lot of courage just to get the first one. It's uncomfortable for me to try a different place I don't know. I have balance issues making it difficult to travel too far from home. - [ ] Lastly I would say I loved the atmosphere at The Hive and seems to have a lot of nice artists. I would not recommend the Hive since it seems they don't value their customers. I don't believe I got the service I paid for and at the high cost of tattoos there's no customer service. Without happy customers there's no Hive! - [ ] When I was growing up the mantra was the customer is always right. The Hive cares more about their employees than their customers. Therefore, I am giving The Hive a rating of 3.5 because of my experience.
