We stopped here for just one…read morenight on our way up to Door County. we weren't looking for anything spectacular just a place to sleep for the night. It was a little chilly and spitting rain, but we took a quick walk to take a look at the park. The area upfront seemed to have mostly long-term people in them and had full hook ups. It looked like quite a few people were here for the season as there were potted plants and such. We were able to get a pull through site, number 40 that had full hook ups. They do have trees so most of the sites were shaded in this particular area of the park. The backfield appears to be mostly back in spots and was just about empty. These sites look like they are sewer and water only so I'm assuming they are some sort of overflow for all the airshows and events that happened in Oshkosh. The front building is actually a bar. I'm not sure if they serve food, maybe, but you go there to check in. The bar looks like fun, but as it was raining, we did not visit that evening. I will say that the public buildings, while we did not use them as we are completely self-contained, honestly looked a little scary. There's literally insulation viewable from the outside, a bucket sitting outside the door, just didn't look like anything we would want to use. They did have some kids stuff, including a bounce pad and there seemed to be a few children enjoying the park. Everything worked fine at our site, we did pay $75 a night, which is quite pricey for what this park is. The manager was very nice, we did not have any issues at all as far as people being Kind.

Oshkosh has become synonymous with the largest aviation gathering in the world. You fly in, camp…read moreand enjoy the multitude of exhibits spread out over a huge campground. The event is a week long, but you can come for a day or a weekend (I came for a weekend). Airshows are on display every day and even twice a day. There is a night airshow on Saturday with a phenomenal fireworks display and everything from military airplanes to homebuilts. NASA had a great exhibit this year as well and had an engaging area that my wife and I really enjoyed visiting. The logistics were good and there were even showers for campers. The only thing was the food was still pretty crappy so if you're not bringing your own food - there are only one or two decent options (the smoked chicken wings were pretty good!), but otherwise be prepared to survive on overpriced and not so great meals. Even if you're not a pilot, AirVenture is a blast to come and see.

If you are fascinated by airplanes.. If you are a pilot…read more. If you enjoy getting up close and personal.. If you enjoy watching aerial stunt planes.. If you enjoy fighter jet fly-by's.. If you enjoy skydiving shows.. If you enjoy war planes being resurrected.. If you enjoy vendor shopping.. Etc.. This show is for you! Kid friendly. Ear muffs recommended for the little ears during show times. Alcohol not served until 5:00pm and must be kept in contained serving area. Outdoors, plenty of shaded areas but a chair or blanket and umbrella recommended for watching the show. Seamlessly planned out to the T, including traffic flow, spatially comfortable. Even when it's at full capacity there is plenty of breathing room. You can come for the day, night, or week. Drive in, get a hotel, tent camp or RV it. Although early reservations are highly recommended. Check out the website for all the details including dates, prices, vendors, parking, maps, camping etc. no details left out! Tennis shoes are a MUST! The entire airport is covered end to end with planes and vendors. The EAA AirVenture Airshow is a must do at least once in your life! Future EAA AirVenture Oshkosh dates: 2019 - July 22-28 2020 - July 20-26
