They are very good with all of the animals and do a fantastic job. My Buffy comes out perfectly groomed, smells terrific and her fur is so soft. Pricing is very reasonable. Regular customers get first dibs on scheduling for the next calendar year so I have a regular day and time slot every six weeks for the entire year. They are booked several weeks out, so first time customers might have to wait. It is worth it though.

Our first visit with our dog was excellent. After the reopening following the quarantine we had a…read moredifferent outcome. First we had a 1:00 PM appointment so we dropped the dog off at 5 minutes to 1 and we were told it might be a bit longer than usual so we figured she would be done by 2:30 PM. We returned a little after 2 and one of the groomers came out and didn't remember us from when we dropped the dog off. He wanted to know if we were there to pick up a pizza next door. I said no we were there to pick up our dog. He told us she wasn't done yet and would be another hour, this was at 2:30 PM. When we took the dog in February, they told us it would be a little over an hour and it was just over an hour and they did a wonderful job. When he told us at 2:30 it would be another hour she had already been there for 1 1/2 hours. He also said we should figure on three hours for a grooming, over twice as long as her previous visit. At 4:20 PM we finally got the dog back. The grooming job didn't seem to be as well done as her previous visit, probably because of so many grooming jobs done today. This was not acceptable to us as we had to wait in the parking lot for most of this time. If they were going to be overbooked, as they seemed to be, we should have been told so we could have made an appointment later. The owners texted us explaining that many of the dogs and cats were way over due and that's just the way it is. We wouldn't have been so upset if they had explained to us up front, so we could have scheduled when they were not so busy.

BUT, the last 5-6 years have been questionable on the care my animals have received. Have even debated on finding another Veterinary Clinic AND NOW I WILL!. MY 6 MONTH OLD ENGLISH BULLDOG WILL HAVE PERMANENT EYE DAMAGE BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF CARE AND COMMUNICATION WE RECEIVED THERE. Long story short, I left messages on a failed surgery that was performed there and never received a follow up call until after I was at an emergency vet in Cornell fighting to try and save his eye. Thankfully they saved his eye after a 4 hour surgery but he will have permanent eye damage and sight loss at 6 MONTHS OLD. GOOD LUCK IF YOU DECIDE YO TAKE YOUR FUR BABIES TO THIS VET CLINIC.

I came here at the recommendation of a friend and fellow Yelper. She is from the area and had taken…read moreher dogs here for a dental extraction similar to what I was in need of. The reason I was looking for an alternative to my primary veterinarian was their intial quote was over $1,000.00 and although I love my pooch that is a lot out of my wallet. I was able to email them for the a quote and already received good news when they quoted less than my primary vet, scheduling and communication was easy enough as well all done through email and one final call the day before the appointment. They were able to get a rabies certificate from my vet without my intervention. The extraction took longer than I had expected. My pug could not eat after 8pm the night before and combined with the 2hr drive there we were both at wits end. Once dropped off he was left there for the whole day, when I called for a midday question he hadn't been taken in yet, when I called later for an estimated pickup time after spending a full day in downtown Penn Yan I was ready to go (!), he still wasnt back. In the end however he was ready to go home less the 15 teeth taken. They, the staff seemed a bit rushed by me however they close at 7pm, he was ready to go at 6:30pm and I live 2hrs from their office so after spending a full day in a small town and a two hour drive ahead of me I was ready to go too. Overall it was a good experience, he had the extraction on a Thurs and by Sat he was fully back to normal. A week later he acts like nothing happen. In the end I saved over $500 compared to our regular vet including the antibiotics and calcium supplements they sent us home with and they called a few days after to check in on him. My number one recommendation is to check around for prices before jumping into treatment for your vet. Who knows you may just end up in a small town discovering a few things.

Truthfully, people usually only write reviews when they're upset but I like to give credit where credit is due. We expect alot these days because we feel we're paying a premium price but we also forget that the $$ we pay goes towards staff, medical supplies, prescription foods and medications, etc. I have been blessed to have had 2 different veterinary offices I have dealt with "long term". The only thing I wish we had here in the Canandaigua area is an Urgent Care Hospital for week end emergencies. I feel it would be a HUGE SUCCESS because many times THATS WHEN EMERGENCY VISITS ARE NEEDED! when I have visited in Florida, they have multiple. In conclusion, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !! Ernie and I love you.

The volunteers at Hearthside are some of the most caring individuals we've ever met. The litter was born several feet under a barn and the volunteers spent hours rescuing them. We worked mostly with Bonnie, and I can't rave about her enough. She is the most kind, gentle caring person who fights so hard for animals. Not only did she let us visit the kittens every week until they were ready for adoption, she is still always available, months later, for any questions we may have. I even found an abandoned baby bunny in danger and after asking her for advice, she adopted him, nursed him back to health and now they're best buds! We were originally considering adopting from a breeder but can't even express how much happier we are that we found a local shelter and saved two beautiful babies with the help of amazing volunteers. Most people start their search at Lollypop (which is also great) but you'll never regret supporting local, smaller shelters. Thank you for everything Hearthside!
