They have a small tropical and coldwater fish department at the back of the store. The animals don't appear distressed in any way. It's great fun to go and see the hamsters, rats, guinea pigs and rabbits. My only complaint is about the trolleys - they charge for them, and I don't always have a £1 coin to put in the slot. I would appreciate not having to pay because it's very difficult to carry big bags of sawdust and trays of pet food around. I feel that a trolley is essential in stores like this!

I've always found the staff to be polite and friendly too - and if they don't know the answer to a question, they go and find someone who does. The staff here also suggested some remedies (non chemical) to help my dog with his fear of fireworks! They also have a lovely gift section with ideas for animal loving friends. It may not be the cheapest pet store in the city, but it is a good one.

Staff dont seem to have any knowledge of animals and the requirements and prefer talking among themselves rather than serving you. The hygine and general husbandry of the animals leaves a lot to be desired, and dont they know that rabbits and guinea pigs should NOT BE CAGED TOGETHER????? Apart from needing a different diet, guinea pigs, especially baby ones, can be very seriously injured by kicks from rabbits, possibly killed. I also must mention that a friend of mine bought a bag of well known dry dog food that was full of maggots. Firstly she was as good as accused of lying, then was given another bag and when she insisted it was checked this too had maggots. The shop seriously needs inspecting. 1 'star' is far too high a rating in my opinion.

This is my local fish shop and I wander up there every couple of weeks to admire their current…read morestock. They carry a large range of tropical and marine fish and they always seem active and well looked after. If any of the fish have been ill they stick a 'not for sale' on the front of the tank until the others have been quarantined, so you can trust that they're not selling you anything substandard. The staff are friendly and helpful, and are always keen to advise. The prices aren't the cheapest around, but the quality is excellent - I've bought many fish from this shop over the past 16 months and have only lost one, which suggests to me that they are of a very high quality. There are labels above each tank, showing a photograph of the fish and a short description of their preferences, which is very helpful. They also stock a small range of aquariums, and other fish keeping paraphenalia.
