An incredibly cute little pub which I had completely overlooked! If it wasn't for us celebrating a birthday here I probably wouldn't have ever gone in. Apparently, 't Voske has been a thing ever since its opening in 1931.
Upon entering 't Voske, you will feel at home immediately. It has this old fashioned tavern or grand living room feel to it. There's a fireplace with super comfy chairs around it, and a bar in the back where you can also sit and have a chat with the regulars or with the owner.
It's just such a nice, warm and quiet little pub, where it feels like you're staying inside on a cold winters evening.
The service is amazing! I arrived at the birthday party a bit late so I was a bit in the midst of introducing myself to people I'd never met before, and suddenly I found myself shaking hands with the owner who just greeted me with a warm smile and asked me what kind of drink I'd like. After asking him what he had to offer, I was welcomed behind the bar to check out their collection of whiskies. (where afterwards my friends and I ended up having a little whiskey stand-off to determine who picked the best one)
Other than that, I have to compliment the choice of music that was played. The 80s guilty pleasures inside of me were fulfilled greatly. Like I said, it feels like you're home or welcomed into someones living room! There's no formalities, just the feeling of warmth and feeling welcome. read more
