Apparently, 't Voske has been a thing ever since its opening in 1931. Upon entering 't Voske, you will feel at home immediately. It has this old fashioned tavern or grand living room feel to it. There's a fireplace with super comfy chairs around it, and a bar in the back where you can also sit and have a chat with the regulars or with the owner. It's just such a nice, warm and quiet little pub, where it feels like you're staying inside on a cold winters evening. The service is amazing! I arrived at the birthday party a bit late so I was a bit in the midst of introducing myself to people I'd never met before, and suddenly I found myself shaking hands with the owner who just greeted me with a warm smile and asked me what kind of drink I'd like. After asking him what he had to offer, I was welcomed behind the bar to check out their collection of whiskies. (where afterwards my friends and I ended up having a little whiskey stand-off to determine who picked the best one) Other than that, I have to compliment the choice of music that was played. The 80s guilty pleasures inside of me were fulfilled greatly. Like I said, it feels like you're home or welcomed into someones living room! There's no formalities, just the feeling of warmth and feeling welcome.

The steak was tender and tasty and the shrimp was very fresh. Service was good. The easier made good recommendations. Eating outside under the awning was nice. Decor But more complicated than normal here since Zeezicht has a large indoor and outdoor sections. Outside you can while away the late-Spring to early-Autumn months in comfortable chairs, with a nice view of the people of Breda. Inside the warm wood vibe is a nice hole to sip at the beer menu all winter long. Atmosphere The staff and regular patrons are a good bunch (see my previous line about the sommelier) and they don't mind you practising your Dutch. Menu Food is varied during the day; soups, salads, uitsmijter, sandwiches and burgers at lunch and a more sedate Dutch fare at dinner. The beer menu (like the adjacent Sam Sam's) is broad and colourful. From Belgian saisons to hoppy IPAs, there's tonnes to chose from. Zeezicht is a great bar, try it and I'm sure you'll like it.

KoffieTentje is a very cute, small and stylish coffee bar. There's a very calm and laid back atmosphere making it perfect to sit in and unwind while enjoying your coffee (and perhaps a piece of brownie? Trust me, their brownies are amazing.) While ordering my coffee, I've chatted with the owner a few times and to simply put it, she's incredibly nice and welcoming. She doesn't mind having a little chat and seems genuinely interested. So if you're looking for great coffee, either for sitting in or taking it with you on your trip to work or university - KoffieTentje is the right choice!

Though I'd never say that Dutch coffee is bad, I'd maybe say that sometimes it can lack a full flavour. So to say that in the first month since opening I've darkened KoffieTenTje's door nearly a dozen times, I'm very impressed with their coffee. The interior is friendly, earthly and modern, and the music is always good (a mix of chilled electronica and folk). The vibe very much reminds me of a less busy Five Elephants (Berlin-based coffee heaven). Lastly I have to say something about the woman who owns it; basically she's lovely. Welcoming, happy, remembers you and your order. I've chatted with her a few times, sometimes in Dutch, more often in English and she's always chatty. In short; great coffee, great atmosphere, great owner.
