This is a letter I wrote to the Dean, who was only at Herzing for a semester. My issues with this place were never resolved. "Dean Brown, you are the academic dean. Do you really think I would slander someone without just cause? I do not engage in arguments with my superiors, but I have seen an aggressive side to Mr. Cann that you do not have to see. You have many more years of experience, I assume this is beneath both of us. Do you think we should argue? I am honest and open with you and feel comfortable around you, have no wish to send emails back and forth as the real problems compound. I want to be president of HCOP. I was in a math club previously and really want to take leadership. My zeal is for education. My zeal is enough, but I had help from my friends. What is right for me is working towards my goal of programming in a community. The opportunity to be president of HCOP has been presented to me by my friend, the former president of HCOP, and it is an opportunity for me to contribute my unique gifts to Herzing University at no additional cost. If a bird is tied down by chains or strings it still can't fly. I am willing to compromise and my instructor is not. I sent you his email. What is all this "watch 300" about? What would make Mr. Cann a better teacher to me is if he didn't habitually give me the 3rd degree and explode like a ­Bomb. I don't condone Mr. Cann driving people by glorified scenes of violence and threats of failure and death, I do not fear Mr. Cann, but I allowed him to play his intimidation games with me. I am not even slightly amused with where it went. Now, this is not some sort of game to me, but thousands of dollars of my investment in the real world. I don't have enough money to play these games. This school is disrupting my livelihood. I want my money back. I would also be happy if this "300" nonsense is out of the classroom around me because it doesn't motivate me. He is a very intimidating guy. This is what worries me about Mr. Cann. I'm trying to study around this foolish crisis and it's ruining the university for me. I will have time to watch the movie "300" on my own time after I graduate from Herzing University and find a job that doesn't involve troubleshooting, which has become a byword for me. He instructed me to hack registry keys when I could just as easily ask my boss for a free version of Windows Professional. I feel cheated because other Universities have financial aid that isn't completely "used up until June." Why is the whatever-­Mr.Cann-­is making death threats? What is this movie, "300," anyways, is it like Gladiator except for idiots? Why does Jo instruct me on watching movies when it's not in his job description? I want to explore the options but I need to be frank. I need an education for my money. Once I can study in peace I will stop stirring trouble. Mr. Cann can relate the struggle of the African people to me and it doesn't fall on deaf ears, but he needs to help me in return. The first thing I noticed about Mr. Cann is that he thrives on dominating others and putting them down. He stands to become a greater teacher if he were less worried about dominating others. I will not tolerate racial hatred and I will abstain from the civil rights and 300 mindset. I will not get on board with his economic views because it is inappropriate a mockery, perversion, and unsound. I would not be opposed if Mr. Cann's classes are recorded for use as a supplemental teaching tool. Please find a solution that is not so invasive to Mr. Cann. Please grant me this request, Dean Brown, so that you can have peace, I can have peace, and Mr. Cann can grow as a professional." read more

I am writing a review due to Nicolay S review. I had Nicolay in one of my classes early on at Herzing so I am going to clear the air. #1 Joe Cann is an outstanding instructor who is very passionate and caring individual. Joe has opened doors to great careers for hundreds of IT, networking, and programming students. Joe Cann and other Herzing instructors are the reason why Herzing produces such successful IT/Networking/Programming students and Herzing is VERY lucky to have Joe Cann. #2 Nicolay, on the other hand, was not the easiest classmate to work with at Herzing University and let's just say Nicolay was a very unique/strange individual. He was also one of the worst classmates I have ever worked with. Nicolay and I teamed up for a final project in an IT class at Herzing and in a matter of minutes, after having a conversation with him, I quickly realized there was NO WAY this was going to work out because he was nuttier than squirrel turds. So I immediately kicked him out of my group and thank god I did. I have all the respect in the world for Joe Cann and I am very grateful for having him as my instructor. If you live in the Madison area and want to get an IT, networking, or programming degree I would highly recommend Herzing University because no one will train you better than this University, and BTW my classmates and I were getting hired to work in the IT/Networking career fields before we even graduated, and some of my classmates were even landing salary jobs before they even got their degree, and we can thank Herzing's instructors for that especially Joe Cann. read more
