AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Completely corrupt company. First, Buchbinder refuses to accept American…read moredriver's licenses in Germany. I presented my valid Virginia Driver's license (which complies with the U.S. REAL ID Act, BTW) and Buchbinder refused to accept it. The woman at the counter made the ridiculous demand for an "international driver's permit" - which is specifically NOT required in Germany. We raised complaints both at the time of rental AND on return, but they were completely unreasonable on this point. This happened in August 2016 and is their current policy apparently.
Because my valid, up-to-date U.S. driver's license was refused, they decided to charge two extra fees: one to add my spouse as a second driver and another 90 Euros because she wasn't the card-holder who rented the car. Worse still, we booked through "EuroCar" - who processed the charges to my credit card. But because they were a 3rd party, Buchbinder claimed there was nothing they could do about the charges and the reservation couldn't be cancelled.
If I could give this company a negative number, I would. If you have any doubts, please look at the Buchbinder reviews for other German locations - they are virtually all horrible. This company specializes in ripping off customers.
