She is very professional and understands that most viewers are literate and can read the numbers quite easily, unless they are not visible due to them being blocked by the announcer. They don't have to point, we can see that which they are speaking of. I find it frustrating when this happens. Can they be encouraged to stand aside and refrain from unnecessary pointing? Thank you. I watch NBC 7 News occasionally and I am always struck by Mark Mullen's inability to read the news…read morein a coherent manner. He frequently mispronounces words, mumbles through sentences and is generally a very poor communicator. His on air gaffes were especially noticeable last October when he was reporting on the wild fire in Lahaina. He frequently referred to Kahului, the seat of government on Maui as Kapalua and in one instance Kilauea. For those not familiar with Maui, Kapalua is in the northern end of Maui and Kilauea is a shield volcano on the Big Island. As a news anchor, Mark Mullins is always woefully unprepared and it is painful to watch him stumble through the news with his word salads and mispronunciations. NBC 7 needs to rethink having him as their lead anchor. You have a lot of talented people in your organization, sadly, Mark Mullen is not one of them.

The anchors at this news channel are the epitome of class and grace. Their journalistic integrity is impeccable. Aaron Dickens, specifically, is clearly a journalist who works tirelessly to bring to the public the information that we need in our community. Mr. dickens has always come across to me and those who I know, as a man of absolute journalistic virtue, decency, and sincerity. - I always look forward to hearing from Aaron Dickens as he is bright, well-spoken, engaged and interested- not just in the stories he reports on, but in the community with whom he engages and brings this invaluable information to. Reliable journalism is hard to come by nowadays, and when I see it, when I hear it, and when I am all the more informed by it... I know it. Anyone who puts themself into the public sphere knows that they are opening themselves up, all too often, to the petty, the immature and the ignorant. That is a courageous thing to do and it something, I would wager, that anyone who would make their career out of reporting news as their life passion, is dedicated to the work they present and the communities that they inform with the news that we need. I am saying this with regard to the entire news team who, some folks it seems, think simply because they see a face on television, that they have the right to spew unwarranted and baseless, uninformed and obviously petty insults upon. I applaud Mr. Dickens in his life's work, his commitment to journalistic principles, and his courage to get in *front* of the camera and say what he needs to say with his *face* behind his words. Trolls are gonna troll. Jealousy is an ugly thing. Objectivity may be impossible but fairness and truth, in the face of the useless bs of the *faceless*, is what news people walk into news station and handle with grace every day. Ps. ITV Channel 16: Quality, Diverse Programming…read more ITV is like one of those undiscovered gems on the TV. During the day you may catch educational shows aimed at children, but on the weekends and at nights they show Euro News and Planet X TV. One of their more notable shows is Academic League. The show pits high school academic teams against one-another and it is intense. Like Jeopardy times 10 with math... like calculus level math. It has been on for years, and if you are into Jeopardy you will love this. A good new show that they have is Math 2 Success. They teach high school level math geared towards the SAT and CaHSEE (the test now required of all high school students before graduation) tests. They have a little mini show on math applications... I saw the one with a skate-park designer, which was pretty interesting. The surf stuff that comes on at night is pretty cool when your in that mood to just kick back and watch surfing videos. The videos that they show are pretty good quality, although I have not seen 'The Endless Summer' on. School and Sports stars is a cool show which features all sorts of high school sports as well as in-depth interviews with the athletes. I haven't seen a new episode in a while and I hope that there are more. I watched the CIF Baseball World Series, live on ITV last year. It looked really good, like ESPN, although they didn't broadcast it this year. ITV Channel 16 is a great station that seems to do a perfect blend of news, good original educational programming, and surf and sports videos. A real decent undiscovered find if you usually just flip past it.
