I thought I'd stop by to get a pizza to take back to the hotel room (as I'd read all the nightmare reviews of this place's delivery service). I would give this place one star, but I'm giving it two because it actually knocked some sense into me, as I'll explain below. First off, though, the place is really run down. It does not look or feel clean. There are old health certificates and "awards" covering an entire section of the wall up toward the counter, but I can't say I trust them. Or, at least, is there a reason they are all out of date? Second, the medium pizza with two toppings was just under $20. What sort of planet are we living on? Well, I paid because we were tired and desperate and, as I'll explain below, weren't thinking clearly. Third, I stood there near the counter waiting until the pizza was made. When it came time to pay, these people had the nerve/gall to ask for a tip! It's one of my perennial complaints on the current state of "tipping" in the US. Every business out there seems to think it's a good idea to have a tip screen. Well, no it isn't. So eff you. I'm not tipping in a fast-food restaurant where I'm literally standing there at the counter waiting to get take-away. Who the eff do you think you are for even asking, or having your mechanical proxy ask? Shame on you! [End of rant.] Well, here's the reason it's two stars and not one: this experience made me realize that, when we next have to break a journey on the road and need some food, we should just go to a supermarket, preferably one with a deli. Think about it! Oh, you have already thought about it and that's what you yourself already do? Then you're smarter than I am, or at least was before my encounter with this deeply tragic Pizza Hut.

Their stores vary from standalone restaurants to express locations, which are typically attached to gas stations. I visited an express one in Iraan, Texas that was with a gas station, and I liked that it at least had its own kitchen and dining area. While being a Godfather's Pizza Express, I will say that it had a decent amount of seating inside, and I was impressed that they even offer a lunchtime buffet. Godfather's offers a thin crust, but their traditional crust is a thicker, pan-style one. Nothing stood out on our pizzas from Godfather's as incredible, but I would say it was slightly better than expected for being a pizza place tied to a gas station in the small West Texas town of Iraan. I don't think I'd actively seek out Godfather's Pizza or go out of my way for it in the future. However, I'd certainly have it again if in Iraan as it is the town's only pizza option.

The pizza sauce was delicious and liked the tiny acidity of the tomatoes which made it taste fresh and homemade. The cheese was delicious as well and had a nice stretch to it.
